Oh thanks Isom I hadn't thought of that, I've got piriton in the cupboard Ds1 has terrible skin like me and is always reacting to something.
It always makes me smile when I get the medicine box out, I could honestly open a chemist with all I got here. I remember when I was a little girl and all my mum had was plasters, a tube of germaline and a tub of andrews salts. How did she manage?
Hi Pol, thanks for the welcome. This is a lovely thread isn't it, everyone is so friendly.
I hope your mum feels better soon Isom, I don't know anyone who's had pleuracy but I've heard it's not nice. Hugs for you both.

Hi all. Did you miss me? I was gone for a couple of hours while my desk and PC were dismantled and I was shunted into the hall. I had to buy a longer internet cable and the arrangement now is well and truly temporary, but at least I'm back online - listening to the sound I've been dreading - that of the ceiling being ripped out! It's down to bare rafters now and the cross-members are being removed; it's exposed a lovely little window which we will renovate and keep in place. I will take photos but the batteries in my camera need recharging - I have lots of ready-charged ones but can I find them? It all looks a horrendous mess at the moment but will look really good when it's finished and I must admit, they have done a good quick job and cleared up as they went. I thought the cat had left home because the noise must have been pretty scary for him, but he's just come back and sneaked up on to the bed for some peace and quiet. Normally, he's fast asleep during the day but he's had a rude awakening today!

Purple Teddy Bear - good to hear from you. Sounds like life is keeping you busy; I hope you are getting to share some of those eggs! We'd love to see photos, please!

Hi Salome - good to hear from you.

Only Girl - hope DS2 doesn't suffer too much with the chicken pox. It's really good to have you back posting on here.

Chalky - your blanket is lovely; really delicious colours!

Hi SGT - how's life treating you in Spain? Hope everything is going well.

Pol - we're glad we've found you, too! I definitely think this is the friendliest thread on here!

ISOM - my Mum suffers with pleurisy, too; she had half of each lung taken away when she was five months pregnant with, due to TB, so it has left her vulnerable. Pleurisy is horrid, so I hope your Mum gets better soon.

Well, off to make another cuppa for the boys!

A huge welcome to Jayden James!
    I'm a virtual auntie!

Have just been catching up with the posts. Everyone has already said it better than I could, but I love seeing everyone's work. I love seeing the effort Chalky goes to taking pictures of her obsessions -it isn't showing off - they cheer me up and as people have already said, we are more than a knitting group

    WE ARE AUNTIES!

Here, here, K2tog! We all love the photos and I think it's great that we can actually see what everyone else is making; I think it's a real luxury that today's technology means that we can be in touch with each other - in words and pictures - wherever we are in the world. It's clever stuff and, amongst all the bad stories about the internet, it shows the good it can do, as well.

Well, I now have a dining room down to its bare bones, and a kitchen waiting to be attacked today - it's a good thing the dining room ceiling was taken down; the room was added to the house about 200 years ago, and one of the beams was cut too short so, instead of cutting one long enough, the original builders have just propped it up at one end with a small upright piece! I've taken a photo and will post it later - I'm just glad we found it before the ceiling caved in! Luckily, that bit is single story so it wasn't holding up another room! It will be made safe today, then the kitchen is being attacked - I've decided I shall go out while all that's going on!

Anyway, I can hear DH getting up, so I'll pop back later.

    Hiya... newbie here! :embarasse
I'm guessing I've come in at a late point to a big ongoing project: is this a crafting for charity project? I'd like to join in if it is but I can't quite fathom how it works: can someone point me to the right bit of the board that explains please?
