hi everyone, i am back!
i have spent the last 2 days catching up on posts (i have had to resort to skim reading as there was sooooooo much!)
it sounds like things are happening for everyone - its all so hectic.
welcome to all the newbies, i hope you love it here as much as i do.
hi there kathy, may, isom, jean and all the rest of you.
shez - be strong, i cannot believe how hard a time you are having and wish that i could come and offer some support for you (of course it would be in exchange for sock knitting lessons - only joking). you are a star, you are very special and you must not forget that.
oh well, i have been doing some knitting - i will update my signature to show this years total.
jean, i had a giggle at your comment about sending squares to south africa - i nearly fell over in the post office when they told me what it was going to cost me, so i asked for all the options (sending by sea etc, none of the options were any cheaper). i now have a really cheap way of sending them over, when family either comes here for a visit, i send them back with squares, or, when my brother in law goes to south africa, i send a bundle of 40 squares with him - otherwise i would be completely penniless.
have a wonderful day everyone, i have missed you all.

dpixie - your back, I hope your staying for a wee while? How goes the house in France? I didn't log in but saw your post saying that your signature was correct for the work you had done this year....so I scooted off sharpish and inserted your name on the spreadsheets as well as make a list of the items you'd made, comes back in and guess what - your signature has magically changed - ha ha caught me out...I take it that what I originally read was last years - what a klutz I am.
Well the secret project is still ongoing, but so far so good, I am jacking it in now as I want to go and sit in a comfy chair without my head banging (sums to work out the knitting). Back a bit later me thinks.
Jean

F1- Couple of years ago, my DS announced he was going to contact Oprah to complain that Santa never brought him the Scalectrix set he wanted - he got some cheapo version instead, he also said he would mention that I had gone to the States and left him in school...I hasten to add I was away on business, he never did get the hang of me NOT being in Disney Land! I bought him the proper all singing dancing Scalectrix set when he hit 30 - his gob was well and truely smacked! The Hooligan Wooligan – age 9¾

DPixie - so good to hear from you! Hope you are keeping well. As you can tell from Jean, we would love to know how the house in France is going! Hope all is well there.
F1Widow - good on you! Your poor son!
My DS2 (it's always my DS2, never DS1 who really was a little angel!) once ran away from home but came back after five minutes because, at six years old, he knew he wasn't allowed to cross the road on his own, and would I help him?!
Jean - you're not going to tell us what your secret is, are you? I hope you can get there in the end - I think we're all longing to know what it is and to see the results!
Well, I've not picked up my hook since last night so I'm going to have a shower now and sit down early while DH is busy finishing off the hall.
Have a great evening, everyone.

dpixie, i would give you sock knitting lessons any day, they are so easy once you get the hang of knitting in the round. the trick is to cast all the stitches onto one needle first, then spread them out over the others, make it so much easier
jean, would love to see what the secret knitting project is, hope it works out well, after all the hard work you have put into it
must go, i have a gp appointment this morning, i've had a swollen lump for a few weeks now, and been on 2 different lots of anti biotics that havent shifted it, last tiem they mentioned they might have to cut it:eek:, hope they dont i'm not good with pain
hugs all
shaz xxxenjoy life, we only get one chance at it:)0 -
Good luck, Shaz - that lump is being really persistent, isn't it? Hopefully, they can try something else before resorting to surgery.
Lovely and sunny here this morning. I had loads planned but friends have just phoned to say they will be calling in, so we've invited them for lunch. We have so much dust here from the renovating that I will just have to spend the morning getting rid of it now - a great way to spend a lovely spring morning - not!
Hope everyone has a good day and great weather.

God Morning to one and all -- Just a quick pop in now as off on gardening duties and lunch!!
PUPPY UPDATE
The veterinary nurse from the local practice was persuaded to come and have a look at them . It turns out it was a mum and son. The Mum was pregnant again!!!!
Anyway the vet nurse persuaded "paws" the local charity to take them on even though they are full to bursting. And apparently they are being to taken to Holland as they love little dogs there. Well that seems a bit strange to me but I am just goung with the premise it has to be good news and a better situation than they were in. So big sighs of relief here
Got to go but will pop back later and catch up with posts and news
Love to everyoneTry and do a good deed every day.0 -
Hi
Rottie home and well. Wound healing up nicely. We have put a collar on him for the time being, as he's rather clever at removing stiches from his being !!!! For him, he was fairly well behaved, he only growled and barked at the vet once, and tried to imtimidate a dog, even though he was half doped. I stayed up with him last night, so I'm feeling quite tired today.
No knitting or crochet done yesterday.
I had a nice treat last night, my 12yr old cooked dinner. helped by my 22yr old. She cooked tagliatelle with somed salmon, accompanied with a Portuguese salad, which is my 22yr old's speciality, mainly due to the fact her boyfrined is Portuguese !! It was great to have a night off cooking :-)
Have a blessed and proserous day. Hugs to all in need ((((hugs)))) Love you all.

morning all
jean, sorry about that - you are right, they were last years totals. i do have a few half completed items in france which i will finish when we go there at easter.
the house is almost finished - although we still have some leaks (in a new house???) which are in the process of being sorted. other than that we have moved our furniture in and have unpacked about 3 out of all the boxes - it was just too cold to go into the basement and root through them to find the things that were needed. i have managed quite well with very few of the things that i had around me previously. my next jobs are sorting out health insurance, internet provision and most importantly canal+. (Kathy any tips on any of these as i am struggling with finding out much as it all seems to be in french.) i have been told that we have to have canal+ in working order before the middle of june - hubby is taking some time off work in order to watch the world cup. i suppose i should be happy that he can be entertained by something so simple!
other than that we have been settling into our new flat (which is completely bare other than the few bits of furniture that came with the flat and the "starter pack" that i bought from ikea). the view from the flat is brilliant as it is facing the thames and the barnes (i think) wetlands, which are brilliant to look at. on top of that i get a good view of those poor people who are taking rowing/sailing lessons and also those who clash paddles and then capsize their vessels, it is very funny, but i am sure, very cold.
wishing everyone a great day - i am off to mop the floors and do the dusting, the ironing has already been done for the day! then its a bit of crochet and knitting for the rest of the day.

well the gp had a look at my lump, and decided not to resort to surgery just yet, and prescribed another weeks worth of different anti biotics, fingers crossed these ones will do the trick
