Love to all - I am trying to keep up with you all but my Internet access is intermittent at best for the next few weeks, and downloading etc is so slow when it is available that it's hard to read and then post.

  • Hello Ladies (are there any Gentlemen on this thread?)

I started knitting again yesterday as an alternative to reading my mountain of books and have just finished a red cat blanket - I'm a volunteer with Cats Protection and, as I enjoy big blocks of plain knitting, I knit blankies for the cats. As we often have nursing mums or elderly, not very continent, cats we go through rather a lot of bedding.

One of these days I'll have a go at something with a pattern!

    Best wishes

welcome not just laura! great username btw! I also collate squares into blankets for cats protection...slowly! Have you been enjoying the racing F1? Hellow covert seakay! Allotment is coming on-we now have a proper path as a back entrance and the pond is in along with pretty things (flowers) much to the disgust of "proper" allotmenteers who just grow veg!! Mum and I hope to go for a bit tomorrow...its definately a case of slowly slowly...
Hope people have had a nice day...lovely calm one here..quilting, making chutney, babetting and snoozing! Also discovered that best mate off to live in italy for 3 years so delighted for them but will miss them all...although they will pay for me to visit and we'll skype...

Hi all, I`m still here in the land of paint and wallpaper although I am able to report that the end is in sight, finally............well maybe :D.

Was interrupted this am as DD decided she REALLY needs new slippers for going into hospital, so off we toddled -well drove- to the shops. Tried a few but obviously you aren`t supposed to need slippys at this time of year. Came home and preparing to climb into painty trousers and t shirt again, and the door goes, DD1 and family `get the kettle on Mum, we`ve brought cake`. Well, how could I refuse. Lovely cake AND a card and lovely wee gift as well. DD & DS had given me card and pressies in the morning so feel thoroughly spoiled.

Off to sit down with some food and Dancing on Ice, and maybe some knitting while seated.

    Have a good evening all.

I have a heap of Admiralty charts (ship stuff -and DH can always get me more if I hurry up and ask him) as well as tons of Tea Towels and it has crossed my mind that I could use both those ...the wall alongside the machines is already all scribbled on, it will have to be covered up at some time even if its only with paint!
When I was in the UK, we had his & her's rooms for watching television as we don't like the same programmes!! & in OH room we had Admiralty charts on the ceiling, they were a great conversational piece when we had visitors. Could you frame the tea towels in 'clip frames' & use as pictures on the wall or even make into cushion covers?

Not alot of knitting going on here at the moment!!

Hugs to all in need xx

evenin all, hope everybody has had a lovely day. decided last night, that today i was taking the kids to the coast. i told them, and they moaned, oh it wont be same without ian. i told them to get used to it, and if they behaved, then indeed it would be more fun, as there would be more treats. so today was spent in scarboro, and both lads were :Aangels, well almost lol. so they had extra spending money to go on the fair rides, and buy them some treats.
not much charity knitting done, this week
    update
    1 preemie cardigan
busy making socks for daniel, and now joshua has decided to wear home made socks too, so gotta make him some. as there feet are so big, it takes me a whole week to knit just one sock for them.
bought myself some more bamboo sock wool in a wool shop today, one day i'll find time to knit mine lol
    hugs all

    Hi everyone.

Shaz - I'm so pleased you had a good time at the coast with the boys. You sound very determined to get on with your life; well done.

Welcome to Notjustlaurua - I hope you like it here! If you have any questions please feel free to ask; there will always be someone here who can help!

Elaine - I'm so glad that the end is almost in sight for you all; hopefully, you'll be ready in time for the little one's appearance! Good luck to you all; hope DD is bearing up in these last few weeks!

SGT - the Admiralty charts must have looked great!

Jean - your workroom would look great with charts and tea towels on them, I think!

Well, a little more done to a crochet bunny last night but I will have to get a wiggle on because I need to get all three done by the end of the month so that they can be posted. The time, as usual, runs away with me here because there is so much to do!

Anyway, will catch up with you all later. Hope everyone has a good day.

    morning all
i hope everyone had a lovely day yesterday hwever they spent it
special hugs for those who werent able to have their mums with them.

shaz im really glad you had a good day out with the boys

eldest ds was involved with something called the young americans all weekend so he was only home to sleep. we whatched the show last night it was fantasic. all the local kids did pieces in the second half of the show to let us see what theyd been working on all weekend. i was blubbing when DS read out a poem and started singing a solo. the poem was all about how important family is. He absolutely loved the weekend he had to drag him away at the end. Hes already left for show as they are in today for a leaving assembly before moving on to another school.
with that and youngest DS doing choir for the morning church service didnt see much of the lads.
middle DD came home for the day with her BF youngest DD was so busy organising the boys and making cakes she must have been worn out, then my sister came over with my mum so a really busy day all round.

didnt get a chance to do any knitting:o

hope everyone has a good day
