Had a lovely knitting club today - ISOM kindly gave me a lift, pressed cake upon me (ok I didn't struggle much) and took me shopping as well - had a nice chat and got some concentrated work done. Going to have a bit of a lie down and listen to David Tennant in a play on the radio now.
Hugs and good wishes to all.0 -
Hi everyone. I've had a busy day out buying materials with DH (didn't trust him on his own with the money - only joking!). We also bought some new smoke alarms so they are now up and working. I forgot to pick my coat up from the drycleaners, though, so I'll have to do that on Monday. It's a full length coat that I took with me back to the UK because it was so cold everywhere, but it got really creased being folded in the car for long periods. I was surprised that it only cost €6.45 to have it cleaned - I expected it to cost a lot more.
Shaz - welcome back. We've missed you. I'm glad you and the boys had a good time; you all deserve it.
Chalky - sorry you've had a sad start to the day. I know how it feels to say goodbye to one of your 'babies' (my eldest is 38 but he's still my 'baby'!). I'm sure they had a wonderful time with you and will soon be planning their next visit.
Well, I finished another Chalky square last night so that's two more to add to my sig; I'm hoping to get another one made this evening. I'm just running out of ideas - I'm trying to make them all different but there are only so many square patterns, aren't there?! I must say, it's very satisfying to see my bag of oddments being used up, and for a good cause.
Well, I think DH needs a cuppa - he's been busy fitting out a new cupboard he has made under the stairs, so I think he deserves one!
Hope you are all having a good day.

Hello everyone:hello:
Just got back from our usual Saturday round of the 2 Mums.
My Mum is still knitting scarves for some of the ladies where she lives, makes me laugh though she said "I am only doing this for Mary because she's old and can't knit any more" turns out Mary is 81 and Mum is 88, :rotfl:
Did MIL a hot meal lunch time as she doesnt cook any more , she shakes that badly she would scald herself, as it is when she does toast it usually ends up on the floor
May - I love your posts they cheer me up no end,:T All that lovely wool, I went to Aldi in the week but did'nt get as much as you. I wanted the petroly/turquoisey pack that you got but they had run out.We got there at 10am and half of the wool had gone, just shows how popular knitting/crochet is becoming now, I did buy a knitting book for £2.99 though lots of lovely new patterns to try now.
Welcome TracyP glad you decided to join us you will love it here we are all very friendly, and anything you want to know just ask
chalky - so glad the weather has changed over there (just in time for us by the look of it) :j My youngest is 39 and I still feel the same as you and Kathy. Its a Mum thing is'nt it a packet of tissues in every pocket;)
shaz - nice to see you back, glad the weather was'nt too bad for you, and you all had a good time just the break you needed
Seakay - dreadful is'nt it when you are forcefed cake, you'd think ISOM would know better;):rotfl: glad you both had a good time.
Shelley - my goodness where are you going to put it all??? BTW a small parcel on its way to you.... 3- buntings, 1-cardi and a handful of ties.
Kathy - I was getting a bit fed up of doing the normal type squares, so I treated myself to a book called '200 Crochet Blocks for Blankets, Throws and Afghans' by Jan Eaton, from a link posted on here ages ago. So many to choose from and very different to those I had been doing, and I am really enjoying trying them now.
Better go and make OH a :coffee: he is a lot better today.

Afternoon all...well the cake persuasion took seconds!! Mind you seakay was vey generous cos I was a bit tired and grumpy!! Couple of cups of tea helped though!! Busy day again with lots of cooking (more brownies, bread, pork loin wih white wine, apple and mushroom sauce to be served with mash and spinachand a chicken casserole!!) so am now pooped...tried to sleep but couldnt so had nice bath instead. Managed to sew up cat blanket with seakay but unlikely to get much done tonight with guests!!

Hi everyone. I'm just catching up with you all before we go off for our friend's birthday lunch. I shall be hooking all the way.
Chalky - glad that they arrived back home safely although I know you'll miss them. Just think about the next time they visit when the weather is bound to be better than last week!
Well, I finished another square last night so will add that to my sig. Chalky - since you mentioned it I will leave a long tail of the final colour for sewing up but I'm afraid the first 10 or so squares have no ends left on them because they've all been sewn in. I'll send you enough of the final colour of each one for you to sew up with, though.
Thanks for all your updates which will be added tomorrow.
Hope you are all having a great Sunday.
