Knit Your Square To Give Your Share - Part 3

Well I have given up on the Babette squares (even though its the name of my nearest farmers wife). Then decided I would clean and try out the knitting machine that my tutor gave me, she is having a clear out - thought I would appreciate it-I did tell her I only have one pair of hands but she wouldn't listen. Well I cleaned it all and set it all up and oiled it but it doesn't want to play, so I shall leave that steeping in oil for a day or two then try it again. As the whole world was against me I then decided I would spend my time with the two boxes of material that Lou at LH sent via my sister just before Christmas - remember that far back? I also managed to find the holiday sarongs that Chalky very kindly sent (again via my sis). I have sorted it into towels, flannel, cotton etc and made a start at the cutting out for the Algerian Action women's products, which I volunteered for and Lou very kindly supplied a load of stuff, obviously sent in from various LH folk, so I intend to get started in the sweatshop tomorrow. I've also hunted out some material to make some "bags of love", not sure yet what I will be putting into them but at least I can make a start. Being Scottish and a wee bit frugal, I shall use up the little bits left over for some "wiggly bags" too. So no knitting or crochet for a wee change. I did find the old gas bottle fire and I have tons of ski underwear so I won't be cold at all - says she with tongue in cheek! Will keep you all posted how it goes. Heaven for me on the sewing machines for the next few days.

Hi
That blanket is amazing :-)
Haven't been on for a few days, so will catch up with posts later. Life has been pretty hectic the last few days, so I haven't got to my comp as much as I'd like to.
Hugs to all who need them. Love you all. ((((((hugs))))))A work in progress0 -
Chalky and DIL, that blanket is wonderful, lucky person whoever receives it.
Pippa, that was a quick year, I bet the little love thinks he's always been with your family.
Jean I haven't heard the word 'steaping' since my MIL died 20 years ago, brought back memories as we were best of friends.
Very sad news from LH, I don't know anyone over there but it doesn't stop me feeling sad for the poor lady.
Love to everyone, and I wish I could find a chest full of wool as well Kathy.0 -
Good morning everyone. Up early this morning and on my second cuppa already!
Salome - I hope life calms down for you soon!
Jean - you sound very busy! Hope you're keeping warm enough!
Chalky - what lovely photos. The blanket looks great and seeing you and your lovely DIL working together is inspirational. Great that you share the same love of crochet!
Well, I started another Chalky square last night but fell asleep on the sofa before I could finish it. I've been really tired since we got back from the UK (although I had a lazy ten days while we were there!) and I just hope I have the necessary energy this morning to get the ironing done - we'll be going round naked otherwise!
My very dear friend (the one who looked after Louis while we were away) has a birthday on Sunday and another friend has arranged a dinner party (this time I don't have to do the starters - just supply the bread!). I have already bought a birthday pressie but it has been suggested that we all club together to get her a hairdressing voucher, which is a great idea. Anyway, it will be a lovely day in great company.
I was just thinking about posting photos of the Chalky squares I have made so far but most of them still need the ends sewing in, so I will try and get that done today. Chalky - I will try and remember to leave a sewing-in tail for you!
I've really enjoyed doing the squares so far and, as long as Chalky is happy to keep sewing them together, I'll carry on making them.
Anyway, as it's still early, I'm going to lounge on the sofa with my crochet for an hour. See you all later.

Hi
What a lovely baby :-) Welcome back Kathy :-)
May, glad to here you have a doc with a listening ear, and showing concern for you x
Things have clamed down now I think. You never know what's round the corner though do you lol.
Last Friday my 17yr old was at a childrens birthday party, and was jumping around with one of the little girls there, and hit her head hard on a low ceiling. She wasn't feeling too good that night, and in the morning was quite sick, so we got her out to a local hospital that dealt with minor injuries. They said she was mildy concussed, and if she was sick again to take her to the bigger hospital that has an A&E. She was due to babysit that night, so I did her baby sitting stint, while I was there she was sick again so OH took her to the hospital, and after a 3hr wait, a doc thought she had a tummy bug. The nurse who saw her thought she was concussed ?? Anyway. She wasn't too good for a further two days. She lost 1stone in weight, which she really doesn't need to lose because she's very thin as it is. She's a lot better now though. Thankfully.
I have got some knitting done though :-) Just about to finish the last sleeve on the hoodie, and got the 1st square done for the next baby blanket I'm making. I want to get the hoodie finished this week, because next Monday, I'm providing dinner for the new mum, whose baby I'm knitting the hoodie for, so I'd like to deliver it to her with the meal :-)
We do that at church when a mum has had a baby. A group of those of us who can provide dinners for two weeks after the new dad has gone back to work, or as soon as the mum in home with babe, depending on whether new dad has kitchen skills lol. I should have been doing my meal on Monday, but she has her mum there this week, so I'm down for next Monday instead :-)
An old family friend came in with her two children the other day, and I was knitting, and my 22yr old was crocheting the squares for a blanket she's making for the daughter of this friend. We taught her to crochet several years ago, and it wasn't long before she was asking for a crochet hook and some wool so she could do some as well :-) That's what I like, contagious knitting and crochet lol.
Having a coffee morning with a very dear friend this morning. Going to meet her at a local hotel Not so keen on their coffee as it tends to be luke warm, but it's one of those places where you an sit forever, and not feel you have to rush off :-) I'll probably have tea as that tends to come hot lol.
Have a blessed and proserous day. Hugs to everyone who needs one ((((hugs)))) Love you all

Morning peeps :hello:
Cold but lovely and sunny today, very snowy as well but it is thawing:T
Had a verrrry long conversation with DGD2 (4 in March) on the phone last night...she does make me laugh at some of the things she comes out with, I am sure most of it is imagination rather than fact
DGD1 was telling me all about a star fish they found on the beach in Dubai, she is a bit upset though as she has lost piggyit was a beany type pink pig about 8" long and she had it when she was born (she 6 in June) so I am on the lookout for another one, it wont be the same I know but may help a bit.
salome - I love reading your posts they are so interesting, and you sound like a lovely Mum and a kind and caring friend. I agree with the contagious knitting/crochet bugit's lovely to pass on these skills, especially to the young. Hope your DD is feeling better now

Hi Tracy - it's not a term I'm familiar with and I've been knitting for years (!), but it could be 'through back of stitch'. Hopefully, someone will be along shortly who will be able to help you. We have loads of really experienced knitters on here!KNIT YOUR SQUARE TOTALS:
