Hi all, hope you are all well and hugs to those under the weather or feeling low. I read earlier on another thread a kind of motto that I guess we can all make use of from time to time, it was 'Keep calm and carry on'. My sympathy was with the recipient of the advice and it made me count my blessings.
It is cold and grey here today but still no sign of the snow that has been mentioned. I decided to make a food shopping trip this morning (just in case).
Chalky 75 - You asked about how I overcame the wavy edges on granny square borders. I found the solution on the Crochet Anyone thread by Pink_Numbers but I am putting a link to her tutorial here and maybe it will be of help to others who find the same problem. I have now re-done all my borders and am ready to go with a few rounds of a new colour. It was certainly worthwhile undoing the wavy ones.
Best wishes, Kath0 -

Afternoon all...look forward to the babette chalky!! Mine is coming on and I've found a box to keep the squares in. Spent the nornig sewing the rest of the quilt by hand and its now in the machine. Will have to hoover after a snooze as there are bits of cotton and "tacks" from the basting gun all over the room!! Chuffed with it though and worth the effort and year and a half that it took (with large gap in between!)...will post piccy when its dried!! Babette later and then knitting group on Sat - hope to see seakay/always poor there!!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Even in the darkest moments, love and hope are always possible.0

Hi all. Hope the day is going well for you. I thought mine was until DH came in. He had intended buying some materials for the house and went through the usual procedure to get cash out of the ATM - he asked for €300 and only got 20! The first note came out and the remainder stayed in the machine; he said he could just see the other notes but that they didn't come out far enough. Anyway, a message came up to contact the adjoining post office and, luckily for him, a chap in there spoke a little English. He phoned 'security' and they are coming out on Monday afternoon (just as well we're not desperate for the money!). Hopefully, the machine will have €280 too much in it - I just hope the next person to use it doesn't get it. I'm a bit worried but there's nothing I can do at the moment. I'll check with the bank tomorrow to see how much was registered on the transaction, and have a word with them, but it seems the machine has a fault. Anyway, having emptied my purse, DH has gone back out to buy some of the stuff he wanted, so I hope he doesn't get into any more bother. Bless him, he felt really bad but we'll just have to put it out of our minds until Monday.
I've just been reading over the days I missed on here and want to thank you all for your mentions while I was away. I only had access to unfamiliar laptops which is why I didn'nt post during that time. I just know that when I get my own laptop, it will definitely have a mouse! I just couldn't get on with the 'touchy-feely' thingies!
I've just been turning out a little chest of drawers that has been in storage and guess what I found? Yes, more wool! I also found the pattern for an alphabet blanket that I made for DS2 when he was a toddler (he's 28 now). It was a Family Circle pattern that was in monthly instalments and, for some reason, I am missing the Y and the Z. I'd love to finish it for Summer so will email Family Circle to see if they have it in their archives (from early 1980s so I'm not too hopeful!) I could always make up the last two letters, I suppose. The blanket itself is in a box somewhere in this house - DS2 loved it despite the missing letters, so it would be great to finally complete it.
We've had some strange weather today - pouring with rain first thing, brilliant sunshine by mid morning (so I made the mistake of putting the washing on the line), then it poured down with hailstones accompanied by a vicious wind, and now the sun is beaming again! Hope it's better where you are although the UK forecast doesn't look too good, and I see that even Chalky's corner of the world is suffering, too. Won't it be fantastic when spring is finally here?
Anyway, enough waffle - will catch up with you all later.
Maytaurus - by the way, thanks for all the links! Hope you're feeling better.

afternoon all,
awful weather here today very cold and it started snowing while we were out :snow_laug it seems as though this winter will never end.
May - thanks for the tip on the wool at Aldi :T
Kathy - welcome back we missed you.Hope you get things sorted with the cash machine.
chalky - it is so disapointing to see the behaviour of some Brits abroad, makes me wonder how they behave at home.
SunnyGirl - hope you feel better soon, there's a stomach bug doing the rounds down here my friend told me yesterday.
Went over to DS2,DIL's and DGS last night, they got back from holiday a couple of days ago, they had a great time. DIL's mum died last year and with her share of the money from the sale of the house she said she wanted to do something for all of them that they would always remember.
They had a week in Orlando and DGS loved it had his photo taken with all the Disney characters, went on all the rides and just ate anything that was put in front of him.
The second week they went on Oasis of the Seas down to the Caribbean DIL said he was as good as gold. He spent most of the time in the pool,
and playing in the nursery, DIL and DS2 were with him they were a bit nervous about leaving him I think.
It is a year next week since they first had him and 5 months since the adoption, it has gone so quickly, he has settled so well and we love him to bits.
He jumped all over us when we went in, I think he missed us:) we certainly missed him. But we are all going away in April for OH's birthday so that will be good.
I persuaded OH I REALLY NEEDED some more wool;) so we went up to Aldi, I bought a ball of Aran in a lovely raspberry'ish colour, a ball of pink and a ball of blue for baby stuff, and a scarf kit in red, all for £9.96, and a knitting book with LOADS of patterns in for £2.99.So I am well pleased.
off for a cuppa now

Pippa - I can't believe it's a year since your DGS joined his loving family. He sounds absolutely wonderful and I'm so glad he has found such joy and happiness with you all.

Hi everyone.
The Fusiliers Museum was excellent - we both enjoyed it immensely and spent an hour & a half happliy wandering around :T DS3 bought himself a Union Jack mug and a key ring made from a real bullet - he's very impressed! I came back and made tea and I'm shattered nowA bath soon then a night with the hook I think.
I'm so sorry to read about Do on LH. Is this the lady who lost her son/grandson recently? If anyone knows her please pass on my sympathy & love.0
