Hi everyone. Thank you so much for all your lovely welcomes!

Ladykath - I really appreciate your kind words.

Jean - thank you SO SO much for doing the update! And thanks to everyone for their totals!

I still haven't had time to read back through the thread for the days I was away but will treat myself to that later on today! I've been up to my eyes in the inevitable washing; the rain hasn't helped because I have to dry it all indoors, so the utility room looks like a Chinese laundry at the moment! Still, it's all washed - just the dreaded ironing to do but I will save that until the weekend.

Chalky - your post made for sad reading. We've witnessed behaviour here that has made our toes curl with embarrassment because it's always the British. I know that most of us are courteous and respectable but the minority can really let us down, can't they? It's so sad. On the ferry once, there were two parties of school children, one French, one British - guess which group the teachers had lost control of - the British children were running all over the ship shouting and swearing and getting in everyone's way, while the French were looking on with horror.

Well, I started another Chalky square last night but I'm not happy with it so I'll be restarting it today. The squares are such a good way of using up odd scraps of wool so I will definitely be keeping them going in between other projects. I'm going to go through my wool stash again (now that I've bought a load more back from the UK!) and will keep one box full of oddments just for the squares, so I should have some interesting combinations of colours!

Keiss - your wool shop sounds lovely. I must admit I really enjoyed visiting my favourite shop in the UK; the wool section is so inviting and the ladies who run it so friendly - they've rearranged the way they display their buttons and I was so tempted to buy some but I have thousands here and couldn't justify it! Why are the British wool and haberdashery shops so tempting?! It must be lovely working in one!

Update on Louis - he has finally settled down now but I have never seen a cat so excited to be home! Last night he had resumed his rightful place on his blanket on the sofa - lying flat on his back with his legs stretched out and his head dangling over the edge! I have to confess that he has made saying goodbye to the family back home a little less painful - a cat or dog really does make a place feel like home, doesn't it?

Well, the kettle is calling so I'm off for another cuppa.

  • Kathy: Welcome back. Glad you had such a lovely time, but we missed you. You are so right about animals making a home, don't know what I would do without my Meg.

Hope everyone else is well, and good luck with all the Aldi shopping.

Well, February seems to be carrying on where January left off. Sister (Edith) phoned for a lift from A&E Tuesday - quite a surprise because she'd only gone to hospital for weekly treatment on her feet . She had been feeling unwell whilst she was there and they had sent her down to A&E... Turns out she has angina. They gave her 4 aspirin and a spray, and she has to go back for further tests.

Alfie's front tooth seems to be straightening itself a little, so fingers crossed. He goes back to dentist on 25th.

I have just discovered the joys of free on line bingo. Only been doing it 3 days and I have won £1.01 :T:rotfl:. Well, it should mount up to something by Christmas. Mind you it's very addictive so just as well it's free. And at least I can still knit/crochet at the same time as it marks the cards for me.

Great nephew (Zaki) is 5 today so having a tea at my house for him. His main party is Saturday at a country park so hoping the white stuff stays away and they can all feed the deer. Niece's (Sarah) tomorrow too, so not much knitting done those 3 days I fear.

    Take care everyone.

‘he has resumed his rightful place on his blanket on the sofa - lying flat on his back with his legs stretched out and his head dangling over the edge!’
2 of my dogs do that, but the Cava doodle is the real expert, especially when he’s ‘looking after me’ on the bed or sofa, we always say we gave him the right name calling him Zen, he is so chilled out!:rotfl:

    I’ll bet
    Louis is celebrating! :rotfl:

& Kathy ‘witnessed behaviour here that has made our toes curl with embarrassment because it's always the British’

I totally agree ... ‘They may be in the minority but they certainly don’t go unnoticed, and British tourists were recently named the worst behaved in Europe in a survey by Expedia, the holiday bookings company, of more than 4,500 hoteliers.... ‘

    Good morning everyone.

I was absent yesterday due to having an awful tummy bug :( and spending the day between bed & the bathroom but I'm feeling much better today :T

Kathy Welcome back & I'm so glad that you enjoyed yourself even though it must have been hard to say goodbye.

No crochet or knitting done yesterday at all as I read the book 2012 The Crystal Skull that the boys had got me for Christmas. I could pick it up & put it down quickly between bathroom visits :rotfl: Not my usual sort of book and nothing at all like the film but intersting nonetheless.

Making rice crispie marshmallow squares and chocolate squares this morning with DS3 then we're going to see the Fusiliers Museum which was opened by the Duke of Kent late last year. It's very rerasonable to get in at £1 for children and £2 for adults - just as well as we're pretty skint this week with it being half term.

I shall try to get to Aldi later in the week and get some wool :o as it's a good price & looks lovely.

Have a good day everyone & love to you all.

Morning all, just having 10 minutes sit down with a cuppa before cracking on. Have to get going with wallpaper stripping and painting. At last the young `uns have realised that time is marching on and we need to get the rooms swapped over and as DD doesn`t want dark & light blue paint and DS certainly doesn`t want lilac, guess who will be very busy for the next couple of weeks !!

Managed to nip to Aldi after dropping DD at work but didn`t get what I wanted. I was after some of the 5x100g packs in the bright colours but they didn`t have any, just the scarf packs, pastel baby wool and chunky. Might have to pop back another day and see if it comes in later.

Managed to do a bit more of the crochet blanket as requested by DD - big granny square in blue and white for car seat cover - already have one in pink and white. Can you tell I was in the Brownies/guides, be prepared and all that ??? :D

Oh well, cup is empty so no excuse to sit here. Must go and do something as Mary Poppins with her magical snapping fingers has deserted me, and clicking my fingers doesn`t seem to work..........pity.

    Bye for now.

Hi everyone -- Love to all.
Well I have given up with the weather -- It actually brightened a bit yesterday so we went out and made the most of it of course but today --- Dreadful!!!!

So DDIL is still working at the Babette in the Spanish sweatshop. Well we have really enjoyed doing it together but you soon learn you need to be very measured -- in every sense of the word.
I think you need to use the same brand of wool and just one person working on one project as tension is of course different. However, it is bright and cheery and I am sure it will be appreciated by someone needing a cuddle.

My stash is definitely getting smaller--- hope it lasts til April !!! Otherwise I may have to find some different activities !!

PSSO-- Good Luck with the decorating -- I hate decorating !
May-- Thanks for all the lovely links
KathySounds like we have got similar weather !!
Sunnygirl Sorry about tum ! I hate tummy bugs. Hope you get better soon
LCWILSON -- Hope sister soon feels better

Thanks for all the kind comments re. Wedding Video x

To anyone having a little lurk or MIA lots of gentle thoughts.

Right got to go and do my share on the Babette -- Will post a wonky picture later
ISOM So glad Isoke is bringing you joy!!!
Try and do a good deed every day.
