Beautiful squares pippa...they are for a lady at loving hands who has lost a loved one - one blanket being done for her and another as a memory blanket for charity - think I have that right?
Just back from knitting group which was good - lots of new people but a great atmosphere of people helping each other out...also had a 1-1 crochet lesson so going to have a bash when I get a mo...busy week this week and a fair amount going on so practically ots to do and lots of emotional processing...
F1 thinking of you and DS and hoping you are getting somewhere via LEA...hugs for you...and those that need them.Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Even in the darkest moments, love and hope are always possible.0 -
Pippa those are so pretty.Oh dear, here we go again.0

Hi Folks! Finally found my way to your new thread (thanks Roamin in the gloamin!) - let me wish you all a happy new year from all over at Loving Hands. We are getting more and more members from MSE all the time so have quite a wee community of 'Wooligans' in our midst :0) So far our new challenges seem to have been well received - for those who haven't looked yet we are continuing the red white and blue items for the Heroes tour which starts in June, making Wiggly Bags to hold central line tubes for kids with serious illnesses like cancer, filling 'Bags of Love' (like shoeboxes but in a swim bag sized bag), making prem baby clothes, special blankets, burial items and small toys for the hospitals who have been requesting them, and once again we need to top up our boobs stock - this year Tommee Tippee will be asking for donations to help BLISS in exchange for the boobs so we are helping in more than one way with this one :0)
Obviously we still need to carry on with all our normal items - every time I fill a box with Sands blankets I send them down - they tell me there are still 17 babies either stillborn or miscarried in the UK every day - so every blanket we get is a Godsend. The animal shelters are always delighted with the dog coats, pet beds and blankets we give them and our other charities are ever so grateful for all the boxes and bags of items we have managed to give to them in the last two and a half years.
The main charities we support all the time are - Algerian Action, Linda McDonald Foundation, Scotia Aid, Blythswood Care, Sands, Boobs for Breastfeeding Initiative, Hope & Aid Direct, Hope4Children, Apostleship of the Sea, several animal shelters and a growing number of SCBU's in the UK. Not bad for a charity group that just started less than 3 years ago.:T
We are now over 900 members (628 on our forum the others either members of groups or with no internet access) and growing all the time. This year our project is to see a new HQ built - we are planning on a large Garden Room in my back garden so I can finally get space to move about in my house again! Hubby has been ever so patient so far but he does hate being met by a pile of boxes that have either just arrived or are waiting to be picked up by the Couriers - and if I am sorting and opening parcels in our living room when he comes home and just wants to relax!
We have had some sad moments and members going through hard times this year as well but just like you lovely lot the LH members have been there in spades to offer words of comfort and support. I give no apologies for stealing your idea for Friendship and memory blankets to make them for our dear Grannydo who so tragically lost her son to scepticaemia just a couple of weeks after her husband suffered a massive heart attack quickly followed by a stroke. She knows we are doing it and is touched to think we all wanted to do something special for her. Thanks for the idea folks xxx
Right - I am off to get some sleep as I have more hospital and doctor visits this week and the end of the last challenge items to get off to the charities who need them.
Keep well and stay safe - all of you xxxx
God Bless xxx

Hi everyone.
Chalky - so sorry to hear about your friend. (((Hugs))) to the family.
Lou - great to hear from you. I shall have a good read of your post later - lots of info there! I have two DO squares which I will post to you while I am in the UK next week, and I promise I will try and keep up with LH more regularly.
Maytaurus - your post was wonderful. So many great pictures and links. I shall go back and read it again a bit later - your squares are brilliant, such a lovely colour.
Jean - great squares! These blankets are going to be really gorgeous.
Pippa - beautiful squares; I love the colours you've used.
Well, I had a bad night's sleep last night; too much going on in my mind, I think, and the list of things to do before going away is getting longer by the minute! I've only just realised I didn't post the update yesterday despite making sure it was ready (and cheking that my figures corresponded with Jean's!). I promise I will do it later on this morning; in fact, I have a big note right next to my keyboard to remind me!
Well, waking up later than usual hasn't helped this morning, so I'd better get the day going. I'll call in a bit later this morning and post the update.

Hi
Sorry about your friend Chalky :-(
Loved the crakcked egg bit on your friend poster May. lol. Describes me to a tee lol.
Lots of lovely work posted on here :-) All very inspiring :-)
Went down with a cold over the weekend. Better now, though I'm still sneezing lol.
My daughter arrived home from the US on Saturday (that means my camera came home as well lol ) Good to have her back :-)
I have started the baby hoodie, it's going to be so sweet. I'm on the last crochet square of the baby blanket. Was hoping to get it done by the weekend, but didn't manage it. Still should be done by this week. I would post pics, but have no idea how to do it lol.
Busy day today. Have visitors tonight, and homemade pizzas have been requested, so that's what I'll be up to this afternoon lol.
Have a blessed and prosperous day. Lots of hugs to any in need ((((hugs))))

Chalky: You just cheered me up no end! Bet you can just picture what she will look like as an oldie now :rotfl:. Hope she has a wonderful weekend away. I'm just starting to do a few 8" squares for you (only have baby coloured wool of course).
Snowing like mad at the moment, but hopefully it's not going to lay today. Not such a good forcast for tomorrow though, and I have appointments with the doc and optician.
Stay warm everyone.
