  • may your post made me laugh out loud...much needed today so thank you!! I've had "a bit of a day" so feeling a tad battered but am thankful for friends, my lovely lodger and a pucc cats who is snuggling and most of all being able to cling onto the fact that God has a cunning plan...
Nothing crafty done yesterday as just chilled, farmed and played scrabble...knitting group tonight. Saw the LH challenges and a few bits that may be of use...like the thought of a baby teddy for them to choose whether to bury them or keep as a momento...

    Hello Everyone
What super squares everyone has done for Granny Do! I am sure they will be so appreciated.

Well we had such a shock this morning. Yesterday some lovely neighbours who have been very kind to us for the six years since we have been in Spain came to lunch. We had a lovely lunch and they love a game of cards and them home they went merrily.
Sadly there was so much activity outside their house this morning ( very, very unusual ) that we became very concerned. Anyway Bless him.he had so peacefully passed away in his sleep. Of course what a shock for his wife. He had been poorly but you never expect that do you. To be fair I am only sharing this news as we have had a bit of a sda day but what it does is really make you realise you must make the most of every moment and NEVER go bed cross!!Luckily they were very devoted.

So have been quietly occupied with all things doggy but will call back tomorrow when feeling a bit brighter

    Love to all
Try and do a good deed every day.

  • Chalky So sorry to hear about the loss of your friend. No matter how poorly they have been it still comes as an awful shock.

Just been to Rosie's funeral today. Dear SIL had liked the memorial leaflets I made for mam so my nephew did one for Rosie. Whilst Valerie was going through papers she saw this poem which her mother had obviously clipped from somewhere and kept, so they included it.

    Fairest Flower

The fairest flower is not the one which bears the largest bloom,
Nor yet the flower whose brightest hour is wasted in the gloom,
The fairest flower is that which leaves its loveliness behind,
Which leaves its perfume in our hearts,
    Its beauty in our minds.

Shelly Just posted you a parcel today.

Also sent my two squares for Do. Unfortunately forgot to take pics first, but they were all baby colours because that's all I have.

Hope everyone has had a good day, or if they haven't - hope they have a better one tomorrow.

Sorry to hear your sad news, chalky: oddly enough, we had a gentleman suddenly pass away at lunchtime today - never REALLY unexpected when you work in a nursing home, but nevertheless still quite a shock and upsetting to the care staff, who were very fond of him.

You are so right about not going to bed cross - I can remember the priest at our wedding saying "never let the sun go down on your anger" - my DH still says that (in an even broader Irish accent than the original priest) whenever I tell him off about anything. Which is pretty rich as I'm so laid back I'm almost horizontal, whereas he is very Italian and inclined to get a bit Mafioso whenever he's cross about anything...

Sorry to change the subject completely, but what are the squares for Do? I thought I'd read back all the posts going back to about 1957 to catch up for being away, but I seem to have missed this??
