Kathy A 6" and a 12" is what was suggested to me. The smaller one going for a blanket for Do and the bigger to a blanket for donation.

Sounds like you've had a busy day but the food sounds yummy so hopefully it'll all be worth it tomorrow - have a good time!

Thanks for that, Sunny Girl - I'll make a start this evening. I'd like to be able to do something that will help bring comfort and I think the blankets are such a lovely idea.

We've just had dinner and I'm all cooked out now!

    Have a great evening.

    Hello everyone
Just had a quick look through , so please forgive me if I have missed anything :)

Lorna - I am so sorry to hear you have had more sad news , it seems that you have had your share of sorrow already this year, my thoughts and prayers are with you xx :A
f1widow - I am shocked that the school has’nt yet done anything to help your DS, but I am so pleased he has had the courage to put his comments on the report sheet...give him a big hug from me for being brave and clever enough to think of doing it xx

    SunnyGirl - (((hugs)))
Jean - sorry you've been in the black hole but glad you are back here with us again:T Those cup cakes look good enough to eat.

WELCOME Mumof2 nice to see you we love to see new friends in here

Chalky – awww thanks for thinking of me, the birthday party was a huge success DS and DIL said a good time was had by all. There were so many people there and he had so many presents, goodness knows where they will put them all. They did take most of the baby toys to Social Services to distribute before Christmas. Love the name banner

Kathy – yes he does seem to have been with us all forever, we can’t imagine him not being there now. DS/ DIL had a cake made for him for the adoption party last September, they had it iced with the words....”You did’nt grow under my heart, but you will live in my heart forever” needless to say there were a good few of us in tears, they were so touching

I haven’t been around much in the last few days. I had my friend Jo staying with me. We took her home today as she has things to do next week, but not before she had been to see the 2 Mums. They were so pleased we took her as they had’nt seen her since her husband died. We also took her to see DGS the day after his birthday as he gets a bit overwhelmed sometimes.

Must go into L/H and see what’s been happening to Do and her family.

I will post my update tomorrow Kathy

Off for an hour or so with my knitting/crochet

Thanks for such kind comments about name banner. They are becoming a bit of a speciality hereabouts but very soon there will be an Alexandra or the like!!

Well I find it interesting that I find myself knitting cakes --- for the following reasons

    1. They are pretty, but really have no purpose whatsoever( Would be pleased if I can be corrected on that)

    2. They have no charitable value or worth ( Again please correct me on that too !!)

Then suddenly all becomes clear-- We are in Spain and of course loving it . But, my youngest bundle of joy dd2 -- is 23 on the 26th and (the 1 with the carrot fetish ) we are not there to give her a big cuddle.

Of course 2 years ago we postponed our journey back because it was her 21st but what a long January that seemed -- endless grey days, She hates her birthday being at the end of Jan too !!

Last year I burst into tears because one of her friends mother cooked her a cake and it was on Facebook !! However I had made her Sid the Squid !!

This year I shall probably burst into tears again -- I have left a beautiful cake but have not made the lobster I intended too !!

When all things Spanish was planned she had a very steady relationship but is now very single and keeps our house in the UK afloat or should that be the other way around
Try and do a good deed every day.

shezmit - I will try and do some mug cosies (not done them before though so they will probably fit a cake tin rofl...) - can you or anyone let me have the pattern as I cant find it ???????

kathy & chalky - oh how I love your tales of life - they brighten my day up (or is it that Im nosey??:D) - a Mum's hug is worth so much - when I went into hospital for my op thats all Mum kept saying "oh I wish I was there for a hug - they dont like driving in the winter so I waited a couple of months for my hug

roamin - sorry to hear you have been in a hole - am hoping your climbing out now - you should have shouted at us - "big hug" - the cakes are fantastic - I had a go at cakes last year (not knitted in the round) and my son played football with it - it was the oddest shape and I was not happy with it at all but yours are great

Am having a wool block at the moment - am still trying to get LH squares done - I started the year off full steam ahead now Im literally crawling - although dont laugh ive done a couple of Innocent Smoothie hats this week ready for later in the year - perhaps the new LH challenge will buck me up and I must work on some more of shelley's challenge (note to self - dont forget to send LH & shelley parcel this week!!!)

Been and looked at a house today - Im not sure - im not being a snob but its a bit tired and could do with a decorate and whilst Ive got no qualms with decorating I just think if someone wants to rent a house out a lick of Magnolia wouldnt go a miss (and the carpet well.... thats another story) BUT on the plus side its cheaper than here and DH will have a garage again - will be having a think on that one

Ive been sorting my cardmaking drawers out and have a pile of bits to go on ebay that Im not likely to use (but dont worry ladies Ive still got enough to make cards for Clintons:rotfl:)

Well had better stop whittering - love to you all Jaqui xxx for all those that are sad or poorly big hugs xxxxx

    Hi
Loved the cup cakes Roaming :-) and that wool looks delicious nunnygirl :-)
Chalky... Do you have a link for your blog? I started a blog last week, haven't put much on it yet, but hope to add to it later :-)
Getting on with the blanket. Need to get it done by the 16th of Feb. as we have the baby shower for the mum to be :-) then I have another one to do by April, because we have the last of our church mum's having her babe. That was three ladies one month after the other lol, First one to be born in Feb. This one is a boy, and will be the first baby for them. We had her shower last week. The second babe, who's mum is having the baby shower, is due on March, this will be the fourth, also a boy, then baby no. three, due in April is a girl, and also a first for the parents.
Hugs to all in need (((((hugs)))))
Just seen Chalkies banner . SO sweet :-) and the squares are lovely.

  • Hi all,

sorry for being absent for a while but didn't feel like i had anything much to say, although i did keep up with reading the threads.

Loving thoughts and virtual hugs to those who need them, january always seems to me to be the bleakest of months and a chore to get through without any of lifes other issues to deal with on top.

i have an update to add, my first! i have packed them all in a shoe box to be posted end of next week to Loving Hands (also joined the LH forum and told them you guys were responsible, lol) i am going to try to take a photo and post it on here tomorrow (if i can work out how?!) would love to know if i am "up to standard" as it were, and if not how i could improve:
    1 x 6" square
    1 x 8" teddy toy
    1 x RWB tea cosy
    1 x snuggle bunny blankie
    2 x babies hats
    1 x remembrance poppy

also made 2 other snuggle bunny blankies for babies of work colleagues over the last fortnight

    BC x

PS... loving the pics of items made by you guys over the past few weeks, very inspirational for me!
