Chalky - what a wonderful surprise; it's things like that that can restore a little hope in a sad harsh world, isn't it?

Maytaurus - yet again, you have found the right words. Thank you for your post and the comfort it will bring.

Hester - sorry to hear that you lost your Mum.

Sunny Girl - when doing squares, we usually work to 5sts = 1", so you're right - cast on 30sts for a 6" square then just knit until it reaches 6" in length. With knitting, the cast-on row never looks wide enough but, once you have knitted a few rows, it does. (((Hugs))) to you and your family.

Well, I am off for a cuppa.

Have been very lazy with my hook and needles :-( shame on me. Must get some done as I have another baby shower to go to next month, and I want to get the baby blanket done I'm making. Easily remedied though, I shall have to stop spending so much time on the computer lol.

lcwilson - im totally shocked at your news - Im so very sorry and will be thinking of you especially today warm thoughts and hugs xxx

mrs-m - thank you for your info - really helped - DS goes to secondary school when he is 11 so he has after this year another 2 years at the school (if we had stayed where we used to live we would have been on that system)

I cant really get over how supportive you lot are always a word or some info - i cant say how much it means xxxxxx Needless to say DS told us last night that since last friday it has happened 4 more times - teacher now says I think the time has come that you will have to learn to ignore it - Im so upset and annoyed by this - but not only that DS has started being argumentative to me over it all - but as this is not the first time this has happened I have learnt that this is how he deals with it - taking it out on me - thats what Im here for .......

shaz and seakay - hope you are feeling a bit better - big hugs xxx

chalky - what a lovely lady - there is good out there somewhere xxx

At the moment Im thinking life is very unfair - so many of you have had loved ones taken from you - so am feeling sad for all of you (not a good day today me thinks!!!)
Gentle thoughts and big hugs to all Jaqui xxxxx

Maytaurus once again you find just the right words

Chalky that was a lovely gesture to give you all that wool it will certainly help with all the knitting and crocheting you do

sunnygirl what a kind gesture to join in with the friendship/memory squares for Dos blankets on LH, Lou has requested that the squares are sent in pairs so you do one 6inch and one 12inch both in the same wool and stitch, the smaller squares will be made into a blanket for Do and the larger squares will be made into a blanket for a charity of Dos choosing in memory of her son. I hope that info helps you. pop over to the lh site and say hello everyone is friendly and i'm sure Lou would be delighted to have you on board

    update for the week
    1 fishermans hat
1 pair of squares for Do's memory/friendship blankets

jacqui, so sorry to hear that your son is still experiancing, bullying at school, its terrible, i think he comes home and takes his anger out on you, because he is so upset with what has happended at school, but dosent feel able to fight back to the bullies.
one of my sons has started to be bullied again, on wednesday, another lad got him in a headlock, whilst another punched him, and broke his glasses.
luckily the school he is at now has zero tolerance on bullies, and both were excluded for a week.
hope you and your son get this sorted soon, to tell him to ignore it is unacceptable, its giving the bullies, the impression they can carry on.
(((big hugs))) for both of you

F1 if you feel able let me know which local education area you come under and I'll hunt some stuff (info) out for you...the school have a legal obligaton to provide a safe environment for your son. Just telling him to get used to it is wholly unacceptable and I'm sitting here seething on his behalf....I would also be seriously thinking about movng school if thats their attitude as its simply not good enough...
Salome the lesson was postponed as didnt want to pass cold on...next week we hope!
Alas I rescued the wrong wool so will have to change it today so a brief trip to town and isoke of to see "uncle D" the vet to have 2nd jab and stitches out this afternoon then babysitting again tonight!
Got more of the cat basket done last night and am very happy with my john lewis jute bag which comfortably holds wool/scissors etc!
Chalky looked at blog but it wouldnt let me comment...love that recipe!!

F1Widow - what the teacher said is totally unacceptable. How on earth can your DS ignore it if it's happened four times in a few days? As ISOM has said, your son has a legal right to a safe school environment - if the school can't provide it then it is failing not just your son, but any others who are being bullied or will be in the future. The local education authority surely has an obligation to investigate this and, also, I wonder if you could get in touch with Ofsted in view of what your DS wrote when they visited the school?

I hope with all my heart that you can get a result - we're all told that our schooldays are some of the happiest in our lives, and your DS is being denied that basic right.
