morning all
well after going so well yesterday and almost managing to clear my ironing pile i had a bit of a mishap down to the last 6 items (after going at it all day monday and most of tuesday afternoon then restarting in the evening - yes it was that big:eek::o) i noticed the water had run out so topped it up DD who was in the room with me asked what the beepng noise was i hadnt noticed the iron was sounding what seemed like an alarm an what i thought was steam coming out was actually smoke i pushing the steam button and water started trickling out of the bottom needless to say i unplugged it pretty quick when i put it flat on the ironing board it was so hot it burnt a hole in the cover. i got my spare iron out this morning to finish off and that wouldnt heat up so i think ill have to put a new iron on my shopping list:mad:
almost finished the back of a little baby cardi im doing for a neighbour of one of the ju jitsu students and did a few rows on a fishermans hat last night.
im off over to lh now to read up on the squares request - so sad to read the news on here, but thank you for making us aware of what had happened.
F1 i hope DS had a good day yesterday and i hope the school do something soon
sending hugs and kind thoughts to allSPC~12 ot 124

Hi everyone. My first visit here today. I woke up to an email for work that needed to be done within a couple of hours this morning so there was no time to spare; a quick breakfast and straight down to it!
I haven't caught up with the thread since yesterday evening, so I will go back and read up on all the posts, then I will visit LH. I'm ashamed to say I don't visit it very often and I forgot to check that my poppies had arrived way back in November. I'm sorry to hear that there has been sad news on there. It seems to be a sad time for a lot of people.
(((Hugs))) for all those who are sad at this time.
Having skimmed this page, I see that France is getting some sun after what seems like a long time without it. It started off pouring with rain here but now we have bright blue sky and brilliant sunshine, and to make the most of it, I have two machine-loads drying on the line. I've been told by the neighbours that there is usually a lot more sun in the winter and that this one has been unusual. They put it down to last year being the last of three years with thirteen moons - apparently, the weather is not so good in a thirteen-moon year, but that, as 2010 has just twelve moons, everywhere will get much better weather. Old French wives tale or not, I'm hoping that we all have a really good summer this year.
Anyway, I'd better go and do some housework so will catch up with you all later.

Afternoon everyone.
Such a lot of sadness at the moment - huge hugs and kind thoughts to all who need them.
I have stuck to my self-imposed target of finishing the WIPs in my basket and am nearly there. I have finished two blankets and a scarf, just another scarf to go. There is another blanket, but that definitely will remain a WIP as it is very small squares and I make 4 of them every time I finish an item (well if there's enough wool left to do so). But I have managed to sew up all the squares I had ready so I do feel as if I have achieved something. Hopefully by the time the 2nd scarf is done the new challenges will be on LH.
Take care all.

Hi everyone. F1widow - it was quiet on here yesterday, wasn't it? My day just didn't seem to have enough hours in it, although I'd planned on a quiet one! I didn't get any knitting or crochet done, either.
I hope everyone is well.
I visited LH and read the dreadful news on there. I just can't imagine anything worse and I really feel for the family. There really is a lot of sadness around at the moment and many people are going through bad times.
My mind is half on our trip back to the UK on 6th Feb - two weeks on Saturday. The other half is deciding what to do for starters for a dinner party for eight that we are going to on Sunday. I think I shall do chicken strips with two or three dips. I've seen recipes for lots of fancy things but need to keep it simple, plus it needs preparing here then transporting in the car for an hour. Everyone is doing their bit but the people doing the pudding have it easy - Christmas pudding and clotted cream which just needs empyting out of the packets!
Anway, I am really hoping to finish the outfit I am making for Summmer, then I shall carry on making Chalky squares. I will carry on with them while I am on the ferry to and from the UK because they will not need too much concentration. The last time we sailed, I was making IS hats and, on the way there, I had an audience of four little girls!
Anyway, it's early here. A dog has been barking all through the night and kept waking me up, which was annoying because I have only just caught up on the sleep I lost because of the cough I had. In the end, the call of the teapot got me out of bed!
Will catch up with you all later.
