aww thanks Kathy! I got married in November last year but we held back on the honeymoon as it was the rainy season in Costa Rica in November and December. We're off for two weeks, i can't wait but I will miss my cats at home!

Congratulations to Kiraroo-- Hope you have a brilliant honeymoon and what a wonderful idea to take things for other people -- You sound exactly our sort of person and I am sure your gifts will be really appreciated especially by the furry contingent!!

Well we have just shared the most wonderful welcome back meal cooked for us by lovely friends nearby. Just delicious!!

Just before we left I managed to sew and finish the third lapacuddlyghan, with squares knitted by the knitting group here

    Evening all,

Jean that`ll have been the fur coat and nae kn....rs accent then eh?:rotfl:bit too cold for that sort of caper. Glad you`re well covered up when you go out, even though it sounds .....unusual??

Orkneystar - lovely wee gown, it for a preemie ?
Chalky - yet more pretty blankies. Between the Spanish contingent and us lot you`ll be getting blisters on your fingers with all the sewing up.
Flying scones and young men`s trousers  I think I would have remembered that tale, do enlighten us, we need cheering up in this cold weather.
Having said that, it looks as though the snow will be shifting soon. Quite mild yesterday - above freezing :p and tonight it`s raining - yay - so it might be all gone by morning. Just hope it doesn`t get frosty or we`ll be slip, sliding away in all directions.

Kathy - see the French docs are as good at diagnosing the dreaded virus as ours here :confused:but can`t do a bloomin` thing about it. You`d think all the cold weather would kill off the bugs.

Off to the sofa for a while before bed. Sleep well.

Ha Ha. I think that story is left best to your imagination but swing doors, trays laden, floury scones and a handsome young man was definitely the order that day!!!

Sounds like my idea of a perfect day :rotfl:
Chalky the blanket is lovely - your hook must be a blur :A
Onlygirl I know exactly what you mean about the accent. My Scottish accent is great - in my head . I once worked with a Scottish guy who I used to get to talk Sean Connery to me *sigh* it definitely made the working day more pleasant :rotfl:
    Enjoy the honeymoon kiraroo.
Hugs to poorlies and those who want one.

Hi all. Hope everyone is well.

Elaine - I had heard that the French are very good at giving you prescriptions for the sake of it so I was half expecting to come away with several things. My cough is getting better every day, though, so I was pretty sure it was a virus. I would rather avoid taking meds if I can.

Zippychick - of course you can post anything here - updates, photos, and so on. It doesn't have to be things you have made for charity. We are all nosey here and love to see what everyone else is making! I love the colours you've used and the buttons. Your work looks beautiful!

Chalky - how many pairs of hands do you actually have?! Or have you roped DH into helping? Your 'output' is amazing! That last blanket is beautiful.

SGT - you're not 'bad'. I expect we've all bought wool just because we liked it! Half my stash is wool that I couldn't resist and I usually find a reason for buying it. Sometimes the inspiration comes once you've bought the wool, I find. The only buy I can't find a use for yet is some very chunky pink and white - I'e tried using it several times but, once it's made up, it always looks horrid!

Anyway, I'm in a bit of a rush this morning. I woke up later than usual - my first good night's sleep for ages, so I'm not complaining. We've been invited out for lunch at our friend's house about an hour's drive away so we'll be leaving pretty early. I shall, of course, take my crochet with me for the journey.

Will catch up with you all later. Have a great day.

    Good morning everyone :D

DD, DS3 & I are full of porridge now so feeling all warm inside :T

I'm just having a few mins on here before getting ready to go for the weekly food shop.

I managed to get a square of dc crochet done last night - it finally seemed to 'click' with me. Is there a general rule of thumb for measurements like there is with knitting -i.e. 5 stitches = 1 inch? I am crocheting myself squares in chunky wool that I have to make a blanket as I have some lovely heather coloured stuff. I'll buy some cream I think to go with it too. Fancied doing 8" squares as they are a nice size and wondered if I just measure the foundation chain until it's the correct length  Hope all of this makes sense to you experienced crocheters :rotfl:

HShuggies.gif to anyone who needs one today & have a good one.

Sunny Girl - (((hugs))) to you and your family.

Yes, with crochet, just make the foundation chain as long as you want - if you make it 8" it'll make an 8" wide square. I'm glad the crochet has 'clicked' - there'll be no stopping you now!
