Chalky there is a pattern somewhere for a sock puppy, as in sock monkey, would be much quicker seeing you've got so many to make

    edit; found one http://www.!!!!!!!!!.com/my/kaystarr98/pix/sockdog.html.

There's instructions for a sock dog on Martha Stewart's site:
    http://www.marthastewart.com/how-to/sock-dogs

Sorry I've not been around a lot lately - dentist, snow, a bit of a cough and general gloom have meant that I haven't felt like chatting, but I have been having a quick lurk every now and again to keep up with you all and would like to send

    (((big hugs))))

to all of you who are struggling with bereavement and illness. It can be such a grim time of the year one way and another, and the people on this thread have really helped me just by being their usual generous and thoughtful selves.

Ok, i want to also knit some squares for blankets . I have lookd at the link in the first post and just keep getting more clickies. Very overwhelmed. I can knit and purl and that's about it.

I wanted to knit for bonnie babies . Can anyone help with simple instructions? Colours of squares, what pattern or stitch etc? Thanks. Overwhelmed completely at all the links
I you go to the Bonnie Babies pages here and click on the contact part you can email directly and ask exactly what they need right now. They are a friendly bunch on there :). Or you can click 'on the how you can help' button (on the left hand side near the bottom)....if you scroll right down onto the new page that link opens (after all the totals) you will find a blanket pattern too.
Failing this you could simply a small blanket (a simple all plain, or patterned one) would be fine, in DK or 4ply. The other thing you might want to knit would be something like an angel pocket as these can also be done with simple stitches.

About sums up my day -the roads were soooo icy I would have not been out of place on Dancing on Ice (hang on - they actually stay up on the ice and do a little dancing; I on the other hand did 3 magnificent fall on the bum moves; straight down, no elegance just BANG!!)....and am feeling a wee bit sore. Took half an hour on the main roads in the car to get almost to work (usually 10 minutes) and then what would ordinarily be a 5 minute stroll along the road turned into another half an hour of Bambi-esque skating!!! :rotfl:

Have been good and started using some of my stash bitty bits up, and made 5 boobs but I've lost my sewing up needles in my mad "let's tidy this huge box of wool up" moment - that'll teach me I s'pose. Have also added some more hedgies to my increasing hedgie family (Mummy, daddy and 17 babies at the last count) but I can't finish them off either. So much for the "sew things up as you go along" theory and plan I had for the New Year.

AND to cap it all, DS has decided that his Thomas Tank Engine jumper is too small and he would really like a Scooby Doo one instead....I have the wool (as I would really) BUT no Scooby pattern (I have Mickey Mouse, Postman Pat etc etc, but not what I need). Have looked on ebay but the only Intarsia ones on there end in 8 days and I need to get it started....anyone have any ideas on where I can find one (or if anyone has one I could borrow, that would be really appreciated).

So, scooby and sewing up needles search is on.....

    Keep safe and warm,

    Dawn x
    :hello:

Seakay Big hugs to you xxx

I've finally found a knitting pattern book for dolls/premature babies clothes on Ebay :T:T It should be with me in 3-5 days. I had this booklet years ago & knitted DD loads of Tiny Tears doll clothes from it & I like the patterns. I've been on the lookout for a raglan sleeve preemie cardigan & I knew there were a few in this book which is why I'm so thrilled :D Some of the patterns online for Bonnie Babies/BBC Stoke etc are either in 4ply, are done on circular needles or 4 needles or are too lacy so I didn't want to do them. My Mum was saying the other day that she had heard on Radio4 that some hospitals want non lacy patterns now to stop the babies getting their little fingers caught up - bless them.

Sorry for all the excitement but I knew you would all understand the joy of knowing that a pattern is out there and then finally finding it :rotfl:

Off for a quick bath then sitting down to watch NCIS with my crochet hook in hand ;) I fancy doing a square of tc now as it looks so pretty!

Oooh Dawn, I can sympathise with you. After my fall in the snow the other day I slipped on the ice in the staff car park tonight. Luckily I`d just opened the car door and fell into the car banging my already sore hip on the sill at the bottom, rather than landing on the wet ice. They`ve been scattering sand on the car park but it`s been raining most of the day and the sand has been washed away, leaving the ice. Hope it`s all gone by tomorrow.

We`ll be having bruises on our bruises at this rate.

Not much knitting going on here at the mo, but still managing to do a few rows of a square now and again. Just as well I have teabreaks and lunch breaks. Having a big decluttering session in the bedrooms, prior to swapping over so that DD has the bigger room for when the new arrival appears - not much space for a cot in the room she`s in at the moment, (although we managed when she was small) and I suppose I`ll have to do some papering and painting before then as well. Keep telling them to get a wriggle on and they keep saying there`s plenty of time yet- no there`s not it`s 11 weeks and counting down ----already !!!!!

Think I`ll have to go wool shopping tomorrow for baby wool. Was going to go a while ago but with all the snow I kept putting it off, as I don`t know what the roads will be like. I prefer going to a small town about 12 miles away rather than going into the city 5miles away.....don`t like crowds of people getting in my way... and there`s a nice little cafe near the wool shop with lovely coffee so a double treat when I go there - wool and coffee and cake - heaven.

I`ll dream of fluffy stuff and frothy stuff tonight.
Sweet dreams all, and hope the poorlies feel a bit better tomorrow.
