Welcome also to Babyblooz! Lovely name but I hope the blues have gone

Sorry to give the wrong impression with my user name, its nothing to do with postnatal depression thank goodness. Its because of my baby blue eyes! (I have had many compliments on them!)

Thanks for the welcome, just dont go expecting me to be one of your more prolific members. Sadly I just dont have lots of spare time, but I do find crocheting relaxing. I hope to get lots of inspiration from all you on here though!:T:T:T
:hello:  please play nicely children !

    Hi Everyone
Hello and welcome to chriskim, blackcrow, jennyjelly and babyblooz
Kinsey thank you for the link. It looks great and I’ve bookmarked it for later so I can have a proper look.
Have just finished my first Chalky square which I wanted to do in a particular crochet pattern so I had to fudge it a bit to get the measurements right but I’m pleased with it.
I also know the pain that is the 2 minute job. In this house we end up with stuff left unfinished because it’s “only a 2 minute job”. Well, they never are!
Will do my update in a bit. Like Jaqui, some of mine is from last year but I feel like I’m doing some good stash busting at the mo which is great and I’m enjoying moving things from the stash/WIP pile to the finished pile.
Pippa, I recently used a beanie hat pattern for aran and it came out great but it might be a bit blokey. Made myself one and it was quick and now my ears are warm! I used circular needles 5mm and aran and used the medium measurements for me but may have been better in the smaller size.

Might try a Nintendo cover next amongst the baby stuff. It's on a chart though . 'Bout time I learnt!

jennyjelly - please could you post the pattern for the baby vests? - be interested to see the pattern - welcome to the thread xxx

    [

Thanks for the welcome! Here's the pattern - if anything is unclear please feel free to ask me. It's a lovely little vest that I'm sure would be useful for other charities as well.

BABY VEST - Please use soft wool suitable for very delicate skin!

Knit in DK – I use No 8 needles (4mm). Tension isn’t too important – the vests will turn out in different sizes according to tension, but as babies come in different sizes that doesn’t really matter. Also because they are in rib they are very stretchy anyway.

Cast on 50 sts and work K2P2 rib for 54 rows.

Work 12 sts, cast off 26 sts, work remaining 12 sts to end of row. Work on these 12 sts for 14 rows (leave the other 12 sts on the needle) then transfer to holder or spare needle. Break yarn leaving long tail.

Join yarn and work 14 rows on the other 12 sts.

Slide the held stitches back onto the same needle.

Work the first 12 sts, cast on 26 sts, work the remaining 12 sts.

Continue in rib for 50 rows. Cast off loosely.

    SLEEVES

Fold piece in half so that the cast on and cast off edges line up. Pinch together at the shoulder and count 12 sts down, and mark with a pin – this is the armhole. Pick up 24 sts evenly around the armhole, and rib 14 rows. Cast off loosely.

    NECK

Crochet loops around the neck with about 3 chains and half an inch between slip stitches into the knitting. Make a long chain, tie the ends off and thread through the crochet loops so that it will tie at the front.

Sew up each side and along the underside of each sleeve.
Oh dear, here we go again.

    Updates:

    Ventilator Hats - 2
    Cardigans - 1
    8" Squares - 2

    Good evening everyone.

I hope I've done the update bit correctly :D I have had a strange day as DH got a call from the care home at 9am to say come now. He's been there on & off all day and a doctor has now been out & prescribed paracetamol suppositries for a high temperature  We don't understand it as the nurses are saying that MIL's time is near and yet the doctor is prescribing stuff? I'm just praying that she's not in pain.

My DS2 & DS3 cleared out a big cupboard/airing cupboard in their room this afternoon - they must have been bored ;) - and they have found my wool stash :T:j:D I have a lot of random bits of DK which will be ideal for the 8" squares & baby knits, 11 x 50g balls of Sirdar Click chunky in a lovely heather colour, 9 x 100g balls of Sirdar Denim chunky, 3 balls of Sirdar Illusion which is a ladder type yarn and 6 balls of eyelash wool :o:o I also gave DS2's school a black bag full of wool last year that I didn't think I'd use so I must have had tons!

Has anyone got any nice patterns in a plus size for the chunky at all? I had a quick scan of knitting pattern central but wasn't keen on the styles.

I did another square this afternoon too and sewed the crochet ties & buttons onto the ventilator bonnets.

I hope that everyone is ok. We seem to be thawing slightly here with no more snow so far :T

Pam I am remembering you in my prayers xx

I am doing a set of three - one each in RWB but don't know how many sets I'll make as I'm not enjoying them very much.
Thinking of you Pam and Sunnygirl.
How is your DD now Elaine?
Forgot to say, most of us feel ashamed when our stashes get "found" because we've got so much :o. I take it yours was actually lost Sunnygirl?:rotfl:

SunnyGirl I agree it does seem strange treatment for your MIL, perhaps to make her more comfortable?
