Will hopefully get my needles clacking later :-) Might not be till tonight they speed I'm moving today lol.
A blessed and prosperous day to you all. Hugs to all who need them :-)

morning all, finally got round to taking the xmas tree down today, and packed it away with the decorations.
was looking forward to a bit of quiet time, expected both sons to be in school today, but one of schools rang to say roads too icy and dangerous, so just one son at home.
have started my 3rd square for chalky's challenge, and done a few burial gowns for shelly too. all nice and easy til both kids back in school.
hugs all

morning all and a very happy new year to everyone.
i hope you all had a good christmas and the weather is not causing to many problems
thank you maytaurus for the lovely christmas pm you sent it was a lovely picture:T.
well i have an achievement to share with you all after months of whittering on that i cant crochet coz of my lefthandedness i bit the bullet and bought the 99p 1st issue of the new crochet mag that includes 2 small balls of wool and a hook i spent saturday crocheting the beige wool and ripping it down again before mastering trebles and doubles i did make a rather acceptable looking square by the end of the day then ripped that down and attempted a bit of the ruffle pattern on a 15 chain it worked:T. so eager to run before i could walk i was down the shops looking for a 6.5mm hook (couldnt find one so got a 7mm one working on the theory that a scarf neednt be exact;)) ive transformed 2 100 grm balls of my stash into a ruffle scarf. i still wont call myself a crocheter but at least i can double and treble now. im 1/2 way through a ruffle on the 4mm hook tha came with the kit using normal dk wool instead of the chunker wool i did the completed one in it looks a lot narrower so i may use the idea from here and try a two colour one.
update
over the break i completed 10 poppies for the lh challenge
personal knitting
the ruffle scarf
a shrug (free pattern off net with a travelling leaf pattern, im really pleased with it and it only took 2 nights to complete)
completed the school jumper for DS (hes looking forward to wearing that tomorrow:rotfl:)

Good morning everyone, its a beautiful, if very cold, morning here.
I've spent a few hours browsing patterns for ideas re squares, there are hundreds out there, not sure if it helped, my heads now buzzing but I still don't know what to do :rotfl:, but I did find these :
http://www.crochettoday.com/crochet-patterns/mini-hearts
http://www.dreamweaveryarns.com/catalog/dream-weaver-knitting-hearts-free-pattern-p-2812.html
http://skamama.blogspot.com/2006/06/picot-flower.html
could be ideal for applique.
I have one scarf left to finish (thankfully) - then I'm going to play with squares. I find the plain knit square a little too boring, the diagonal a bit more interesting, I really enjoy the log cabin construction, it has a bit more challenge to it plus nice little break points as you finish the sides. I'm going to try a mitred square, both knit and crochet to see what they're like.
Happy stitching everyone, keep safe & warm.
luv

Hi everyone.
Well back to work for me today and what a shock to the system with such a cold start! Now having lunch and have been for a very quick look around the nearest craft shop and bought a couple more pairs of knitting needles. Feel much better for that(and I did resist all the pretty wool) I'm sure I wouldn't have thrown or given away my fairly large stash of needles and other bits but I've turned the house upside down and can't find them anywhere. They'll probably turn up when I've replaced them all!
My first charity knitting project is coming along nicely, almost half way through the blanket, and I want to start a bunting later so I have something that I can work on while I watch tv - I can't do that and work on the pattern in the blanket at the same time.
Keep warm and safe - I can't wait to get home and start knitting again :jIf swimming is good for your figure, can someone please explain whales?0 -
Sounds like you've got the bug already dally
Have lots to do today and haven't yet made a proper startso better get on.
Snap Pam! I've been checking out mitres and thank you for the lovely new year message. Also got given a crochet book for Christmas and have done a crochet square for RWB in alternating double/treble so they sit on top of each other IYSWIM and I'm really pleased with it. Off to do some laundry as house looks a complete mess and need to take the tree down as well.0 -
Mrs Moneypenny - good to hear from you. I hope you had a good Christmas. Well done on perservering with the crochet, especially being left-handed. It's so satisfying to do because it grows so quickly, plus, if you do make a mistake, it's easy to rip back and start again!
Dally - yes, you're definitely addicted now!
Pam - I love those hearts; thanks for posting them. I think they'll be ideal for adding to squares.
No woolly stuff done yet today. I don't know where the time has gone but I am determined to salvage some of the afternoon to sit down and crochet.
Absolutely freezing here today, and I see the UK is not faring any better. Keep warm and safe.

Hello ladies - well ironing done and put away (do I get a star ...???) last wash load in (its my own fault have not done any for a couple of weeks - naughty me)
Welcome back everyone who has been missing over xmas - DS goes back to school tomorrow - he said yippee earlier not sure how long that will last.
I am frozen since stopping running around about 1/2 hour ago - still cooking dinner will warm me up.
This weeks projects are to get the paperwork in order (new year's resolution :eek: - to get all paperwork and bills in order and start being good with money - I am afraid Im naughty and tend to do an impression of an ostrich at times DH hates dealing with finances and letters so gets left to me & I suppose the anxiety and black cloud kicks in and it gets left - I go to bed worrying about it when really I should deal with it and stop neglecting it - so there big breath of air and get stuck in .....)
Secondly if Im still breathing after the big paperwork clearup I want to get the parcels off to Shelley & Em (LH's R/W/B challenge)
Thirdly the thank you cards that I was so good in making need writing & posting
By this time it will be Friday & DH & DS will be home for the weekend from work & school aagghhhhhh & so it starts again - I dont know how you ladies with big families do it - you need medals .......
Anyway whittering on will get nothing done - love to you all
Hugs to all especially those struggling, ill or with loved ones that are ill xxxDebt Diary: Im not going to be an Ostrich anymore -LBM - 16/1/12 /0
