    hi

can anyone help me with this query? I just bought some wool off ebay to make my cat blankets with and on the item description it said Sirdar but when it arrived today the label says Hayfield. Does anyone know if Sirdar have changed their name or whether Hayfield is a branch of Sirdar before I let the seller know?

    Thanks
Hi kiraroo Found this on a wool site - sounds like they may have rebranded but it is Sirdar
    20% Wool, 80% Acrylic
Sirdar have now re-labelled this yarn with the Hayfield Company Label. A good quality but economical wool mix. 1 ball is usually enough for a child's sweater, 2 balls for an adult sweater or three for a large cabled man's sweater

    Hi kiraroo
Sirdar & hayfield are one & the same, some shop lists have both names e.g.

Re grit in short supply - definitely must be. Once the gritter was `released` from the hole it made, it went along the road.............and disappeared. Didn`t clear the road at all and no grit/salt scattered. Obviously just a `token appearance`so the road is as bad as ever.

Almost finished another square, at this rate Chalky will be sewing up for weeks !! All in a good cause though.

Orkneystar - think you`ll have to wait a wee while for the new LH challenges to be posted, think it`s the 16th it finishes, but I might be wrong. Haven`t been on that forum for a while what with one thing and another, bad enough trying to keep up here.

Off to see if there`s anything good on the telly, probably not, so I`ll get on with the knitting with no distractions.

    See you later.

    Elaine.x

Crossed posts Shaz - I wouldn`t worry too much about exact sizes, i`m sure Chalky said she`ll tweak any `odd` ones until they fit. (She`ll have to with someof mine)

    Hello to one and all
Well am I glad we travelled back from up North yesterday as I think we may have got seriously stuck today!!!!

Thanks to you all, it is lovely to read about all your effoerts with the squares AGAIN can I reiterate don't worry too much about exact size I WILL sew them into submission I promise !!!

It has been a definite drawbridge up here today -- absolutely freezing!! So its a bit of a tah dah moment as I knitted and crocheted so much whilst we were travelling and away,

So here is the first lapacuddlyghan finished. I mixed crochet and knitted and as yet have not added any applique bits but finished it off with rows of trebles and half trebles on the outside. It kept me lovely and warm as I was doing it !!

So I hope this inspires everybody as I am sure it will be a wonderfully cosy addition to someones life. Thanks again for joining in so enthusiastically with this little project Think a selection of things to applique might be nice hearts, flowers etc

I hope all the poorlies soon feel much better and lots of gentle thoughts to all thsoe with worries big and small especially Sunnygirl So sorry you are having such a sad start to 2010. Kinsey hope you feel better soon. Keep warm everybody

We’ve got more snow here than ever here & they’ve forecast at least another 10 cms!
    Hope you’re all ok !

Your right about the being in short supply this is from our local newspaper today
‘’ HEAVY snowfall caused deep drifts of chaos throughout mid Cheshire
The eyes of the nation have been on Winsford Salt Mine, townsfolk were trapped when the town was gridlocked by lorries from as far afield as Essex and Cumbria were replenishing their stocks of salt
The mine, currently extracting 30,000 tonnes of salt a week, is Britain’s largest rock salt producer’’

    Hi everyone
My nephew is getting married in May and his wife to be is wondering if I could knit or crochet ( but i am not that good at following crochet patterns ) but it is quicker !! 11 dogs for all the little ones coming to the wedding EEEEKKKK !!!! I offered and would love to be involved as they are both special and my nephew is the youngest son of my brother who died.
So has anyone any failsafe, foolproof patterns of dogs -- not too big as weddings are kind of busy places aren't they !!

    Thanks in anticipation . Linda

Linda I've just had a look at your Blog it's awesome :j I love the sock monkeys & DS2, DS3 & DD have all requested one as soon as possible ;) I'm thinking of buying some red heart socks in Primark or similar & making them all one for Valentines Day. Where are the instructions on how to make them please?? I shall search the thread in the morning too.

My knitted square for tonight is in stripes of 5 rows each of sunshine yellow, jade green, blue & orange repeated throughout - it looks so cheery and bright it's a joy to knit.

I was getting tired so didn't want to keep crocheting as I would have ended up making mistakes :rotfl:
