Chalky we all know your hook is just a blur, once you find the right pattern they're as good as done. Blanket is terrific!

morning all, chalky, loved the blanket, and will carry on making more squares, have done 4 so far.
in between suares i'm also doing buntings for shelly, as they are nice and easy too. my order from kemps came today :j, i forgot i had ordered a baby's first cuddly knit kit, it has a pattern for a lovely cute hat with ear flaps, mitts, and booties, wool, and needles, might give that a start too.
no other plans than knitting, and laying on sofa, feel so weak, and cold is worse. kids still off cos of bad weather, and more snow forcast.
daniel went out in snow yesterday, and bored of snowmen, built a snowbear lol.

All fixed now ... so you can work on your square stashes :rotfl: :j

DD just phoned me to say she's had to turn around & go back home, as the only main through road in Middlewich is totally blocked by trucks getting road salt,
so it has been closed to through traffic and she can't get through the back lanes because the snows too deep ... we had another 5/6 inches last night
What a mess ... I don't know how they expect us to get into/out of town :confused::confused:
Only a helicopter would do it at the moment

Take care, keep warm & CARRY ON KNITTING/CROCHETING

another couple of ideas for square motifs ........
    Star shape:
With any color, ch 2, 5 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Join with sl st to first sc.
[ (ch 2, dc, ch 2, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, dc, hdc, ch 1, sl st) in the same sc, sl st to the next sc], 5 times, making 5 points.
    starflower

Crochet 4 ch and form a ring with 1 sl st in first ch..
1st round: 10 dc in ring.
2nd round: * 4 ch. Then 1 sl st in the 2nd ch from hook, 1 dc in following ch, 1 tr in last ch, skip 1 dc from round under and make a sl st in following dc *, repeat *-* a total of 5 times. Cut thread and fasten.

    if your
looking for something else to make, that you don’t have to concentrate on too much?

  • Afternoon all.
Just a quick pop in (I'm at work - so not supposed to be on here!!!)
Really cold here today, monday's snow is now frozen and the town is like a skating rink!! We have had some sunshine this afternoon, but not quite long or strong enough to make much difference to the ice.
All my dance classes this week are cancelled - so every cloud has silver lining - more time for knitting. ...... I've already finished a sailor's hat, a kid's aran hat and started a baby bonnet last night. If only I didn't have to come to work....

Take care all and keep warm and safe.

    Ann xx

  • Hello,

Sorry to gatecrash but I was wondering if anyone could help me with a quick question (probably a daft one)?

I am currently crocheting a jacket for my cousins baby which is due in about 6 weeks. I wanted to add some sort of applique to the pocket....how do iron on motifs work with crocheted fabric?

I've tried searching for ready made crocheted appliques but have had no success and the nearest I can find is the iron on motifs. I was just wondering how these would work and wear with wool instead of ordinary fabric. If they don't work well then I'll have a go at crocheting/knitting my own (althought have had no luck with finding any applique patterns so may be pot-luck!).

    Thanks

    Seren
