A chilly good morning to you all :-)
Just heard this weather is to go on for another fortnight!!!! One of my daughter's off to America next week, she won't be too pleased if that is canceled. I'm still trying to get some dolls clothes done for her to take out to my grandaughters. Haven't got one item finished yet lol. Have nearly done a front to a sweater, but that's all !!!
Didn't get any knitting done yesterday. Also last night we had most of our house group here for a jacket potato meal. We usually meet up in a local hall, but OH thought the children would like to play out in the recreation ground just outside our front gate, which they did, including my nearly 21yr old son lol. Anyway, it was a nice evening :-) No knitting done though lol.
    Anyway. Keep warm everyone.
Have a blessed and prosperous day. Hugs to all who need one.

    Good morning everyone.

    Jarus HShello121_17949.gifWelcome to the thread!

DS2 & DS3 got half way top school when I had a text from school to say that they were shut today after all - 8.20am  They're back now, changed out of their uniforms & have a cup of hot chocolate each to warm them up. Not sure how much knitting/crocheting I'll get done today again but I'm going to sit down after lunch and try.

DD & DS1 are both in today so it should be a little quieter.

DH is going to be spending most of the day at the care home with MIL as they're stopping her insulin completely from this morning as she is unconscious and fading still. He is snappy at the moment but that's to be expected so I am giving him lots of TLC.

Take care in the snow folks & keep warm today. Have a good one :D

Surely that is not a good idea if you are planning to send it off to a hospital  ? Just a thought, and save the poor cat his/her blushes too!
I have stopped doing squares, although me and DH both think we might actually like a square blankie for ourselves, so will be doing more soon (chalky will still get some though :D). Doing a crochet burial gown just now, took a few times to get going but now about to start r5 and going ok!
A little more snow here, so not going to Toddlers today, car snowed/ice in, buses changed to hourly now :(, and DS hates going too far in buggy or walking!
    Hope all are well.

PS I bought the first issue of the crochet mag, as thought 99p was worth it for the yarn and hook, but won't buy others unless freebies make it worth it!

you guys say you like a nosey? so I'll add some pictures of things I've made so far...

Good morning one and all-- Still covered in the white stuff here -- very beautiful but very cold!!!!
Busy all day yesterday as have to be very organised for the events back here whilst we are away unti April.

Luckily DSIL ( REMEMBER the one who bought all the knitted baby clothes to Spain with her when she visited) takes all my cards and parcels for me. I put the date of each 1 to be posted and she sends them all off so they arrive on the right day -- What a gem !!!! Pity she does not knit!!!!!

Well had lovely news from 1 of the knitting group in Spain--- she has knitted over 20 eight inch squares -- what a lovely thing to return to I shall enjoy sewing up over there as well !!!

Well I crocheted eight inch squares yesterday

For me this simple method works. Very similar to tutorial on Attic 24

Chain 4 ,join to make a loop. 12 trebles worked into the loop in sets of 3 with 1 chain in between each set. This makes the first round.
Round 2 . -- Three trebles ( this forms 1/2 of a corner section and you will finish the round with 3 more trebles and 1 chain in the same space to complete the corner) Then working around the spaces between the sets of 3 trebles in the foundation row. Work 3 trebles 1 chain 3 trebles in each space . Each of these 4 sets makes 1 corner. Pull it slightly and you will have a square. See bracketed instructions to finish the round.

Work 9 rows in total obviously adding just 3 trebles in the spaces between the corner sets and for me it makes exactly an eight inch square - well as near as dammit!!

So have got another blanket waiting to be sewn up -- Such a lovely feeling and it keeps me so cosy as I am working!

MAYTAURUS Thanks so much for the puppy pattern have sent it to niece to see if she likes it -- I hope so !!

Welcome to the newbies so lovely to have you here and Kiraroo I was really touched by the South African appeal -- even if we have difficult times we do have so much !!

Sunnygirl Gentle thoughts to you and your family - What a horrible way to start the New Year .

So you lovely people I am off to the showere--- Lazy morning -- Well it is an indoors day!!!!

Lots of gentle thoughts to all I can feel the excitement across the miles from Kathy and her impending trip "acuddling"
Try and do a good deed every day.

    Morning everyone:snow_grin

It looks beautiful out there the sun is shining and the snow is pure crystal white....but having said that I'm glad we don't need to go out :snow_laug
The roads look treacherous, we are on a bus route so it does help to keep the road a bit clearer, but we have had NO grit right from the start of the bad weather!!! The side road just down from us is awful not clear at all, and still some idiots drive too fast

 Jarus -hello and welcome to you we love it when new friends join us

Shelley - :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:at the thought of the cat

f1widow - thanks:D it went well yesterday at least all the paper is off, but I am not a fan anymore, done so much of it over the years the novelty has worn off, we built our very first house in the late 60's and havent stopped much until the last few years ;)

serendisglair - love the pics, the parrot's my favourite thanks for showing us we just love to see what everyone is making

shaz - glad the cold seems to be easing off a bit

SunnyGirl - sending lots of (((hugs))) and prayers to you and your family
it is hard for everyone at a time like this, the waiting wears on the nerves, your DH will appreciate the extra TLC x

kiraroo - thanks for the link, I think we did some AIDS squares last year for L/H, we also made Teddies and the childrens choir from Africa took them back with them. Our Teddy champion chalky :T spends some time in Spain and she even got the Spanish ladies doing them.Take a look at her blog, Chalky's world, she has a teddy bears picnic going on there :D
May - just had a look at the links you posted the way I am going I will be papering the walls with all the to-do's:rotfl:
kathy - hope the new sitting room is coming along ok,
ISOM - did'nt realise it was 120 issues, with that sort of money I could buy loads of wool and another wheely cupboard to put it in, OH will throw a wobbly if I do though :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
mrs-m - ouch:eek: hope you are not too hurt.
Jean,Lorna and all other MIA's :hello:

I looked at the link Kiraroo posted and on there I saw some beautiful squares crocheted by a lady in Florence they are gorgeous, look a bit intricate though. She did them from a book by Jan Eaton so I am off to have a squizz at Amazon to see how much it is.

    Keep warm everyone
    Anne
