Some of you might want to pop over to LH. Poor Grannydo is having a hard time and could do with some good wishes.

Re my attempt to crochet some squares for South Africa - not doing too well. I tried 24 chains (too small), 38 chains (too big) 34 chains and about five rows (too small). I settled on 36 chains and worked about 5 inches. Then laid it down and it was working towards a perfect triangle! :o Will start again tomorrow and do something different at the end of the row - one more stitch should do it :D

Kiraroo- thanks for link to African appeal

in search of me - thanks for costings on Art of Crochet It is very expensive and having bought all the Art of Knitting and not finished that it does seem another waste. I know it is expensive but what appeals to me is the idea that you do one a square a week as you buy the magazine haha!!

Keep smiling all this snow will soon be a distant memory xx

I tried to do the squares like off the website with 24 chain, working trebles into it but it too came up too small and was getting incredibly fiddly. So instead I made a tighter granny square instead. Starting with a chain of 4, working 12 trebles into that and going from there on round 2 putting 6 trebles, every three trebles from the previous round, without putting singles chains between them. I ended up with 9 rounds, using 6mm hook and DK wool and this made a 8" square, I have absolutely no idea if this makes sense!!! I will try and post a picture to demostrate IMG_1083-1.jpg

    Hello everyone,

Just a quick visit to let you know that Mum passed away about 11.15 tonight. I am very sad that she’s gone, but so please that her suffering is over. She’s not been “well” for a while, but for the last couple of weeks, she’d stopped eating altogether and this week she stopped drinking as well.

My brother saw her this evening & stayed while the staff put her to bed, when she had a drink then fell asleep, he left her about 7.30, we had an update call from the home about 10pm when the Nurse expressed her concern that Mum seemed to be deteriorating, then a call just after 11pm for us to get there asap. We arrived within half an hour but she passed, in her sleep, before we got there.

We said our goodbyes & left her with her music box playing “Londonderry Air” a favourite from when she was “our Mam”. Its been a long farewell but she is finally at peace.

Thanks for listening to me offload!

Please keep us in your prayers.

    Luv
