Hi everyone. I'm retired and confined to the house by snow for 2 days. Passing time on the pc I came across you lovely lot. I've got spare wool (mostly dk) but the largest crochet hook I've got is 4.50. Can you point me at a suitable pattern for 8" square before I waste any more time looking for one please?
Best wishes0 -
Hi everyone. Hope you're coping with the weather there. Every time I see the UK on the news, it looks worse, so I hope you're all keeping warm and safe.
We had some snow overnight but only a light covering. It's still very very cold, though - about minus six during the day and minus eight at night. The new central heating boiler that we recently had installed is really being put through its paces but is proving very efficient.
I'm so glad that I work from home and don't have to face going out and driving to work any more. DH has jobs planned for customers but they are all outside work so he's had to put them off until next week - hopefully, the cold weather will have gone by then. Having said that, they have forecast snow here for the weekend. I'm glad I did a top-up shop the other day - we have everything we need, and I made sure we filled both vehicles, too, in case we need to go out.
My friend with the swine flu is still feeling rotten - the worst thing is the giddiness she's had for four or five days. She's seeing the doctor again this afternoon, so I hope he can help her. She won't let anyone visit for obvious reasons, and she's been keeping a mask on round the house because she doesn't want her husband to catch it. I shall be so glad when she's back to her normal lovely self - she doesn't deserve to be ill.
Welcome to the addiction, Kiraroo and Jarus! I'm sure you'll love it here!
Shaz - I'm so glad you're starting to feel better. I've still got my cough but no other symptoms except lack of sleep!
Serendisglair - I love the frog, and all the other lovely things you've made. Thank you so much for posting the photos. We are definitely a nosey bunch here and love to see what other people have made!
Mrs Moneypenny - ouch! I hope you're not feeling too sore.
Chalky - how wonderful of your Spanish friend to make so many squares! She'll certainly keep you busy with the sewing up! I hope your plans for returning to Spain go smoothly, what with all that snow - you'll be glad to get back to milder weather, won't you? I check the weather for Marbella now and again (we've been several times and may take a holiday there later this year). At the moment, it's a lot milder there than here!
Sunny Girl - (((hugs))) to your MIL and your DH - it's a dreadful time for you all.
I phoned my boys and their families, and my Mum last night to see how they were coping with the weather. They are all fine - the schools are closed, and both my DSs are staying at home because the roads are too dangerous for driving. My Mum is doing really well; she is fully stocked up and my sister is keeping an eye on her so, all in all, I felt very happy and contented to know that they were all warm and safe.
Well, I'd better go and make DH a cuppa.
See you all later.

Hi Chriskim and a warm welcome to you. I hope you're keeping warm - the weather is atrocious, isn't it? Here's a link to lots of patterns for squares http://www.crochetpatterncentral.com/directory/8in_squares.php hope you find something suitable. A 4.50 hook should work well with DK wool.
I expect some of the others will be along with some more links for you!
