    Hi serendisglair,
    Welcome to the thread

I wouldn't recommend iron on appliques for a knit/crochet jacket. Take a look at the page link below & I think you should find something you like.

    http://www.crochetpatterncentral.com/directory/appliques.php

Some of us here have the nosy gene & would love to see a piccy of the jacket when you've finished it.

oops Kinsey beat me to it - I'm being lazy and trying to type with one hand 'cos I'm snuggled up.:rotfl:

Hi everyone. Hope you're all keeping warm and safe. I've been watching all the snowy drama in the UK on the TV and I can't believe how much of the white stuff you are all having to cope with! We had a light sprinkling of snow this morning but the sun came out and it's almost gone. It hasn't gone above freezing at all.

I hope the more vulnerable are coping, too. It must be awful at this time of year with the cost of heating in the UK so high when you only have the basic pension to live on. I get a bit angry when I see some of the weather girls on the TV wearing sleeveless dresses - I've seen a few this last week, so obviously the studios are very warm - they could turn the heat down (surely they would if they were seriously worried about global warming?) and wear an extra layer. It's not fair when some people are having to choose between heating and eating.

Chalky - I hope your trip back is not delayed by the weather. I've been looking at your stunning photos on Facebook. The blanket is truly gorgeous - I love the edging you've done.

I've been busy taking down the decorations and clearing up today, did a bit of work this afternoon, and have a chicken stew cooking away for dinner.

Maytaurus - thanks for all those links - lots to choose from! I'll have a leisurely look through them later. I hope you're feeling better these days?

Kinsey - the lollypup pattern is gorgeous. Thanks for the link to that and the appliques.

Shaz - I hope you start feeling better soon. I've had a nagging cough but no other symptoms, so I've been lucky.

ISOM - I hope your doctor can help with the sleeping problem.

Serendisglair - I echo Prfungi and definitely wouldn't choose an iron-on motif to apply to anything knitted or crocheted. And Prfungi is right again - we would love to see a photo!

Well, I hope to settle down to relax this evening. It's been a busy day but I feel I've achieved quite a lot - the house feels tidy and organised (well, for now - DH is planning the big move into another sitting-room; we just need to install some downlights and lay the new floor) so, once that transfer has been done, he will start taking down the ceiling that he's been threatening to do for months! I shall start another square this evening - I just have to decide what kind!

Have a great evening, all of you, and please don't go out unless you really really have to.

    Hi Everyone
Hope everyone is coping OK with the snow and keeping warm and that poorlies will feel better soon.
Have just done a vent bonnet and am sewing it up but I can't get my head around the way it works :o. Does the flap go on the top of the head so I need to sew only a couple of inches of seam to allow for the neck  or something else? Must be one of Jaqui's la-la moments as I am without a clue.
Off to sort littlies. Hopefully back later.

    Hello everyone

chalky - the blanket is lovely, nice colours and the different patterns look really good together gives it a textured look.
kathy - I've been taking ours down as well (in between scraping paper off the walls) I love to see them up but also glad to get them down so I can have a good clean and tidy up. Its amazing how much dust they hold:eek:
Shelley - How long do the ties need to be, ooo and are loose or tight chains best??
Shaz - hope you feel better soon
May - thanks for all the links, I just dare'nt look at them yet ;)

We have decided to decorate the hall, stairs and landing as we cant get out, not that it needs doing....MUCH..... almost finished scraping the paper off. I am off to the sofa next to do something I would much rather be using my time for :rotfl:just got to decide hook or needles

    Have nice warm evenings all

Thankyou Pippa and Shez. First vent bonnet of the year done! All my baby stuff is in pink at the moment. Never mind, I suppose it all evens out. Can't decide what to do next . Can't face a sleeping bag (don't know why, but I just can't take to doing them!) so maybe a sailor hat. Or maybe a square while I have a think about what next :D.
