oo look at you os - very posh! Just back from a lovely day out. Church am, allotment clearing pm and surprise sunday late lunch with yummy yorks - we were all stuffed didnt have room for pud! Now at home but its a tad cold so off to fill hotty and decide whether to knit or start the long overdue job of my quilt - although am inclined to machine it as suspect I'll never finish hand quilting it and would quite like it on my bed before I retire!
As for ironing ...makes me shudder and I do seriously wait until my mum comes if at all possible!

Oops sorry if it looks like I am showing off.....it is just these are my first crochet squares, and after initially wondering if I could knit any I am happy to be able to do crochet ones.
Doing a one colour one this time, has hearts in the design :).
Then I think I will get back to buntings.
Hugs to everyone who is struggling just now.

Orkney Star Thats brilliant well done! I love pink :grinheart

I have had another relaxing afternoon knitting & snuggled under my new fleece blanket that DD bought me for Christmas (it's oale oink with darker pink love hearts on it :D) I have done another ventilator bonnet :j They are so quick to do that I can feel a new addiction coming on! I am desperate to get to the wool shop this week to get some more colours for the 8" squares. I am trying to learn to crochet a chain for the ties on the bonnets but not having much luck at the moment. I think I'm using a too small crochet hook (3mm) as I like thin ones to pick up dropped stitches with. I shall buy a 4mm and a 5mm unless anyone who is more experienced thinks otherwise  I can now do the chain bit but it's very tight & kept twisting hence the idea for a bigger hook.

I hope that everyone has had good days & are looking forward to the return of normal life tomorrow - I am the children are driving me mad now :rotfl: Still no change with MIL sadly.

My 3 girl cats were all shameless little hussy's when young & always invited male attention :rotfl: Not these days though thankfully (we had them done!) although 5 yr old Jessica Ca Ca (as she is known to us ;)) still leaps onto the back of unsuspecting workmen when they're bent over the washing machine/under the sink etc. She assumes they will all love and adore her. She is actually the only cat in the world that my Dad likes, probably because she climbs up his front and rubs noses with him at every opportunity :D

    Hi everyone

Orkney Star - your square is lovely; well done! I love the colours!

Maytaurus - I love the idea of booties but not sure that Louis would take to them! And if I gave him a haircut like that, he would lose all his street-cred, as well as freeze to death this weather! Hope your Mum is doing well.

Sunny Girl - I've only ever had male cats but I know from other cat owners just how tarty the females can be!

We'll be getting poor Louis done while we're away in the UK in around a month's time. He'll be staying with a friend who takes in cats as a business, and she said she'll arrange it for us which is great. Early last year, I had the task of having to take DS2's cat to be 'done' because neither he nor DIL2 could get the time off work; I've always felt bad about it! Still, I know it's all for the best.

Well, I was going to crochet late this afternoon but first DS2 and his family Skyped, closely followed by DS1 and his family, so I've had a wonderful time catching up with them all. DGS and DGD1 are back at school tomorrow, and DGD2, who is now almost five months old, is doing so well, laughing and giggling all the time. She looks more irresistible every week. As you can imagine, I really can't wait to see them all!

Anyway, I'm just going to see if there's anything worth watching on the box.

Hope you all have a great evening.

    Hi
A very belated happy new year to everyone :-)
Haven't had the best of weeks this week, but think things could be on the up a little, so that's good.
Finished my neighbours 2nd pair of slipper socks. She was thrilled with them :-)
Have started the baby blanket, got three squares crocheted, and one on the hook.
I'm busy knitting some dolls clothes. My 22yr old is off to America in a couple of weeks to stay with her sister for a couple of weeks, and is feeling a little nostalgic. Not only has she bought books from her childhood memories to take over, and some toys, but she has asked me to knit some dolls clothes like one's I knitted for her when she was dollie mad, to take over for her nieces (I suppose dolls clothes for grandchildren's dolls can be classed as charity knitting ?? lol.) Do you know what. Asking that last question reminds me of when I was little, and I had a baby doll called Patsy, and she only had one outfit, so I wrote to my gran who lived in Shaftsbury, and told her my doll was cold, and a couple of weeks later, in the post was some dolls clothes she knitted for them :-) What are grannies for eh ??
prfungi.... I've knitted some log cabin type squares, they knit up quite quickly I found.
Old peoples homes are always happy to have blankets. My 22yr old crocheted two blankets for the home my dad is in, and they were thrilled. She had wrapped them both up, one for a lady and one for a man, the carers put them on one side, and as far as I know, they went to a couple of old people who didn't have any Christmas presents :-)
Do we have an address to send you squares Chalky. Could you PM me one? My friend who I've got into knitting squares is well away with them, and I mentioned about this to her and she's very keen. She's just bought that new crochet series that's out at the moment, but can't quite grasp how to do it, so I shall try and spend an evening with ehr soon, and see if I can get her going :-)
Isom.... You'll have to go and visit my 24yr old monkey who hangs out in Crouches lol. He's in the older shop in the other mall, not the new one.
Ok, well. Have a blessed evening everyone, what's left of it.

    A work in progress :D

Hi everyone -- Just a quickie as I am supposed to be playing cards in a minute -- I'd rather be knitting but hey ho
Sqaures are looking and sounding great Thanks so much.
Salome old peoples homes have been suggested and that is wonderful--- your family sound very generous. What a lovely thing to do for that couple.

If anyone is dying to get a move on and shift their squares we are in the UK until Sunday so I think early postage at the beginning of the week would be fine. PLEASE send as cheaply as possible as I am very aware how hard things are for everyone after Christmas.

My DD does live in our house whilst we are in Spain but after next Sunday I would ask if everyone can just hold on to any squares until after April 10th as that is when we return to the UK next and when I will devote all my time to sewing them together--- I really enjoyed that job on Elaines blankets . If anyone wants to add a knitted heart in the parcel or sewn on their squares itreally did lift the finished blankets . Lots of patterns for knitted and crochet ones on google.
Dont worry if you dont want to.
    Right must go
Try and do a good deed every day.
