Hi
Just had a look at the link www.touchinglittlelives.org/knitbunting.html that f1widow posted and I'm stuck already
The pattern just says baby yarn? Could anyone tell me if this is DK or a finer yarn?
Thanks in advance - I'm sure this is only the first of many questions!
Hi Dally1, for this pattern you need DK baby yarn & 4mm (old UK size 8) needles. If you have 4ply baby yarn you can use two strands together.
luv

My goodness!! I am smiling already. What a lovely welcome - I wished that I had posted before.
I am definately going to have a go at a few squares. I would really like to have a go at the apple bag that was on one of the links a few pages ago. They look great and useful but a bit out of my depth - YET.
I might ask some cleaver people here for advice and then have a go. I can do basic granny squares in crochet.
Thank you so much for the welcome!!I have never been able to find out precisely what feminism is: I only know that people call me a feminist whenever I express sentiments that differentiate me from a doormat - Rebecca West

Wanted to do sommat nice with my pressie wool and this will last a lifetime, is doable and has lovely texture so cast on here I come. Beautiful day outside and I know I should leave the house as havent been out for days (and days actually!) but have to venture out to church and allotment tomorrow (have made a date with allotment partner - who is married before people start wondering!!) so despite running out of milk I'm staying in!
Chumbasmum ask away - someone (not usually me as I'm a beginner!!) will always be along soon enough to assist! I've just found this thread! I currently crochet cat blankets for my local cat charity. Just very standard large granny square type blankets. I guess I make about one a week. I've just been following Penelope's hexagon pattern to make different blankets and it's going well so far. I thought it was be really hard as I don't know much about crochet but it was very easy to follow and I've done 6 hexagon (joined together as I went along) so far.0

Hi everyone, just been catching up with everyone`s news and knitting/crochet progress - or not - as the case may be.
ISOM - I like to keep my tum covered up as well (there`s a bit toooo much of it to leave it exposed like the skinny malinkies do)
Pam - I`m sitting here with my `friendship blanket` around my shoulders -thanks to you lot I`m nice and cosy.
dally1, chumbasmum and kiraroo - welcome to you all, and anyone else who is lurking come and join us. We`re a friendly bunch and newbies are all welcome whatever the level of skills. We all had to learn after all, and some of us are still learning.........like me with my crochet.
Maytaurus - thanks for all the info - you are determined to convert us to crochet aren`t you? xx
Well, I sat down with wool and crochet hook for a change last night, but didn`t really enjoy it I must say. I find my neck gets very stiff for some reason and I can`t watch the telly as I have to concentrate too much on what I`m doing. Think it will be back to the knitted squares tonight. DS reckons I`ll have to get some audio books to listen to while I crochet instead of watching tv. Might be an idea hmmmm ?
We`re still having showers of snow and goodness knows where the gritters are but they`re certainly not round here.:mad: certainly making life difficult for everyone at the moment.
Hugs to those who need them whether `online` or lurking MIA`s.

_party_Hello My Lovelies
Just managing to pop on our friends computer so have not had a chance to catch up with all the news on the thread but firstly---
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL-- EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU
I HOPE 2010 brings you everything you desire and sees us all going from strength to strength as a group.
So new beginnings. Welcome to anyone who is thinking about joining us and to all our new friends.
Well I knitted all the way up and hook and needeles have been very much at hand. Lots of lovely squares. They do make me laugh . Its a bit like pavalovas some you make are just right and some even though you do exactly the same thing have a mind of their own. But fear not, wonky, slightly small, slightly large, slightly curly --- slightly anything they WILL BE sewn into submission!!!!
Must go as I dont want to be thought anti social !!!
Will be back in Devon on Monday so will catch up properly then but until thenHappy Weekend to you all and lots of loveTry and do a good deed every day.0 -
Welcome to Kiraroo - I hope you enjoy it here; it's a lovely friendly thread.
I must say it's lovely to have newbies so, if anyone's lurking and wondering whether to join, please do!
Well, I'm still working on pressies but I have sorted out the huge pile of wool that was gathering at my end of the sofa and put ready some for squares. Elaine - like you, I find crocheting more difficult to do when watching the box than knitting, so I will alternate my crochet with knitting squares.
We've had a lovely day here today - still really cold but sunny with blue skies all day, so really uplifting.
I have a huge pile of ironing starting at me every time I go into the utility room, so I have promised it it will get done tomorrow - then I will earn an afternoon knitting or crocheting.
Well, I'd better go and start the dinner.
Hope you all have a great evening.

Good evening everyone from a very snowy Manchester  It has snowed on and off all day and it's stuck. I've not been to the nursing home at all today as DH & SIL wanted to be there on their own. Things still progressing (if that's the right word) slowly with MIL although DH doesn't think it'll be long now.
I have finished my first Ventilator Bonnet today & I'm very proudThe pattern was interesting to do and once I'd sewn all the tails in it looked great :rotfl: I shall have to ask the kids how to post photos so I can show it off
Tomorrow is going to be squares for Chalky
Have a good evening everyone & I'll pop in tomorrow.0 -
I've just finished 10 squares that I've enlarged from 7 ins to 8 ins, I'll post them on Tuesday when I'm back at work, I still have loads more squares, all much smaller, I'll work my way through them & make them 8 ins too. Can't remember now who suggested squares, pm me an address & I'll post them on.
