Hi Seakay - it's good to know that potimarron is available in the UK. I have really enjoyed the one I bought. One half was roasted with other veggies, to go with roast chicken and gravy, and the other half was turned into soup with sweet potato, onions and garlic, and was truly delicious. We are just about to have another helping for lunch! I've been told that they keep for months, so are well worth stocking up, which I will be doing this week! I'll try the next one mashed.

Another `brrrrrrr` day here again although the snow falling is the wet sort so not lying as much as yesterday`s. No intention of going out tho` if I can help it !!
Am being good today and doing a weeeee bit of the dreaded house****. Have to - got to hoover up all the dog hair from the carpet so that I can get all the Christmas presents wrapped up
Think I might set the timer and see how much I can do of a 1 hour scarf - probably not much as I`ll likely fall asleep in front of the fire
Hope everyone is well / getting better.
See you later.

Hi everyone :-)
Sunnygirl... I've done a pom pom scarf, I did one stitch between each pom pom :-) Like already said, once cast on it grows very quick and makes a nice long scarf :-)
Got some small flakes of snow falling at the moment. Not much. Don't think it's going to come to anything.
A blessed and prosperous day to all, and hugs to anyone who needs one :-)

Hello to everyone -- Well I guess it will soon become quieter on here-- so we may not HAVE TO MOVE HOME AGAIN IN 2009!!
If we are quiet ,without many posts because we all have our hands full, that is of course so totally understandable and I too will look forward to us all bobbing up again with fresh ideas and new energy after New Year.
If we are quiet because we just need to be, this is a very emotive time of year, that is also so totally understandable and I will so look forward to meeting up with all our friends in the New Year.
If we could count every click of needle, every twirl of hook and every inch of wool we would all be amazed. It all would add up to the most wonderful recipe of kindness and love. Top that off with words of support, understanding and friendship and this is certainly some special dish.
I think we should perhaps think of a little project where we could all join together in our efforts for 2010! Something which perhaps only costs the price of a cup of coffee in postage but is filled with love.
I know everyone else hates sewing up but as the blankets for psso showed I dont.
So maybe we could join all join together for a celebratory project based on the wonderful work of this thread and give the finished result to Charity.
So if you have 1 minute over the next few weeks or lots of minutes I would love it if we could all join together across the cyberspace and move a feeling of goodwill -- the real meaning of this time of year towards an idea we could all join in with and give us a focus for 2010
So ideas would be very welcome

Hi Everyone just a quick pop in because I need to do some wrapping. Hope everyone is OK. I've just got a bit more pressie crochet to do and then I'm done. Although I've really enjoyed making presents, I'm looking forward to getting back to the charity stuff a bit more so there is no pressure. In leaving it close to the time and doing more than I initially intended, it made the pressie making a bit pressured, although I am pleased with how things have worked out. There are quite a few ruffle scarves wrapped up - thank you Kathy! I am determined to make myself a hat when I finish the last of the pressies as made one in lovely aran for someone. Anyway have wittered for long enough.
Chalky, I think it's a lovely idea - back to the square roots again?0 -
Hi everyone. I've had a busy day today, like most of us I suspect! Luckily, I have longer than most to get my pressies finished because most of them are not being given out until January.
Still cold here but the snow started to disappear today because the sun came out.
Chalky - I think that's a brilliant idea. Perhaps we can all have a think of a joint project to do in the new year. This thread has been a great success, thanks to all of you who have kindly donated time, effort and materials to those less fortunate than ourselves. It would be great to do something between us to celebrate!
Anyway, the second part of Strictly is about to start - see you all later.

Morning all.
Well we have the dreaded snow this morning - not very deep at the moment but still falling. I know it looks lovely but could do without it!!!
Chalky - what a brilliant idea - you always seem to have the right words to express everything that happens on this forum.....
So the plan of action for today, decorations to go up - I know I'm late but have been waiting for delivery of new mantle for the fireplace. That's now here and its all systems go. Still got all the pressies to wrap and some cards to write but it will all get done (I hope). Sometimes its all a bit overwhelming isn't it. I have to admit some years I'm glad when its all over!!!
Ah well, must get on...
Take care all, good days and kind thoughts and hugs to all who need them.
