Hi all,
Just popping in quick to say 'hello' had internet connection problems last few days so haven't been online.
Been very busy trying to get everything done before kids break up today and their letting them out an hour earlier as well.
DS1 is over excited already, DSIL is due tomorrow weather permitting.
Try to get back on later.
Hugs to all.xx:jWooligans Totals 2010:

Hi all. We had a light scattering of snow overnight, and it started again about an hour ago. Looks lovely so I must take some photos. I have online work to do to a deadline so I'm concentrating on that this morning, but enjoying a coffee break now, and where better than to spend the time here with my virtual friends?!
Chalky - for the first time in years, I am having Christmas dinner cooked for me (by two professional chefs - one English, one French, married to each other in a marriage made in food heaven!), although I must admit it's my favourite time in the kitchen. I've always enjoyed cooking Christmas dinner. Still, it makes a change and will help take my mind off not seeing the family on that special day.
I finished yet another scarf last night, which needs wrapping with all the other pressies.
DH is tasked with writing out Christmas cards. I only ask him to write them for his Dad, two brothers and one sister, and it takes him ages. I write out all the others, yet he still sits there with his four cards and says' what shall I write?' - this happens every single year!
Anyway, he is also clearing out some more space in one of the barns, an open-ended one that was originally used for storing hay. My car is already in there under cover but his is a diesel and he doesn't want it to get too cold overnight, so he's making space to park it in there beside mine.
I don't need to do too much shopping for Christmas. I've made lots of pressies and those I need to buy can be bought after Christmas because we are taking them back with us when we visit the UK in January. Apparently, they have good January sales here, so I may end up with a few bargains, although it will feel strange wrapping things up in Christmas paper after the event. Still, we are all planning a proper family Christmas in the New Year, so we still have a lot to look forward to. I can't wait for my second Christmas!
Well, I'd better go and do some more work.
Oh, before I forget, that potimarron veggie was delicious roasted with other veggies last night. The rest of it is bubbling away on the hob with some sweet potato, onions and garlic, and will be soup for our lunch today, with lots of homemade bread. It smells wonderful. As the potimarrons keep for months, I shall be stocking up with some more at the weekend, now we know we like them!
Anyway, hope you all have a great day.

Afternoon all
Pippa, that wool shop did have me drooling. What a lovely way to pass an hour or two in.
May, thanks for the patterns, I’m going to have to make a couple of the rainbow scarves, really cheery colours.
ISOM, hope the Chinese was good
Kinsey, thanks for the sheep pattern, just the thing to knit up quickly as a stocking filler.
Mioliere, I love the simon’s cat films. I don’t have a cat, but I had to laugh at the CatManDo film it was so realistic!
Zippychick, welcome and don’t worry you’ll be whizzing along with the crochet in no time.
Shezmit, fantastic totals, well done.
Owens3116, welcome, and anything you make will find a good home somewhere here.
Chalky, sorry to hear about your DD, hope she’s feeling better now.
Pam, that link was fantastic, I’ve never seen anything like it. Brilliant!
Well, it’s pretty cold here and woke up to snow. More for tonight too. The roads are terrible so won’t be going very far this weekend. Haven’t wrapped anything yet, so must stop knitting and get on with it! Where does the time go to?
Hugs to all
Lisa

Good afternoon
I am after some advice please if possible? I have bought some Teddy Pomp wool which has little pom poms along the yarn every inch or so. I am a reasonably experienced knitter but I'm having problems casting on with this wool. I want to make a 12sts wide scarf so it's frustrating to say the least! Has anyone else had a similar problem or does anyone have any advice. Thanks in anticipation :T0 -
Hi Sunnygirl, I assume it's on fairly large needles. I would cast on as normal, and when I came to a bobble if it's in the way just go the other side of it and the 'big stitch' shouldn't show once you've got going for a few inches. Good luck, hope that works.0

Ooh, forgot Pippa's wool shop! It looks lovely but sadly isn't mine - though I reckon I may have a cheeky case for ownership as it's got my name on it!
Freezing here also (Chalky, you must be in shock ) but pretty blue sky most of the day.
Will pop back in properly over the weekend.
Hope everyone is warm and healthy, hugs to those who need or want one.0 -
Kinsey It's on 4mm needles. According to the wool shop and the ball band I should be knitting 2 sts between each bobble. When I try to cast on the stringy bit wraps itself around the bobbles and pulls tight  I'll sit down later and have a faff. Thanks for your reply :A0

It's bloomin freezin here, can't seem to get warm, no fresh snow today though, sun was out this AM but did'nt last long
Had a phone call from DS1 earlier just to let us know they aren't coming up tomorrow they are snowed in:eek: and have decided to stay put, we are disapointed but better safe than sorry we would hate them to get stuck in the car with the girls. It's really bad down Sussex way and to get here they have to go on M23/M25/M40/M42 and it takes around 3 hrs.
He did say though that if the weather improved they would be up on Sunday, but we said not to risk it as we can always get together after Christmas, the girls will love having 2 Christmas's.:santa2:
We have all the Birmingham cards, pressys and money up here so I will have to tell them Santa got mixed up and left their pressy's up here. Don't want to shatter their illusion's just yet, want them to believe as long as possible.
They have been out in the garden making :snow_grin:snow_laug and lovin every minute DS1 said
Chalky - I love red cabbage but can't seem to get it right its always hard, how do you cook your's?
Pam - thanks for the link, its brilliant, have sent it on
Kathy - sit back, relax and enjoy, it will do you good to be waited on for a change
SunnyGirl - yes I have some of the Pom-Pom wool I love it but just can't get to grips with it. I will try again after christmas when I have'nt so much going on.Someone on here has successfully used it but I can't remember whonow sorry
k2tog - that's what made me go into it, I saw K2TOG and just had to have a deko

Edit: have just had a look at my PP wool and it says 4mm on the cream and 7mm on the sparkly red and purple so those 2 must be a different thickness0 -
Just wanted to thank ISOM for taking me to the Farmers' market yesterday - lunch in Ikea and then back to meet Isoke (totally cute) have a look at cabling instructions and finish my sock for my brother. What a fun day out! And thank you also for the jar of chutney - so kind of you.
Anyway, I got socks posted to my brother (phew) have finally finished all cards (late again - I have such good intentions but never quite make it to the place where everyone gets a thoughtful note enclosed!)
Anyway, just (!) have to do wrapping and long neglected house cleaning and then I can finally finish my charity jumper that I started weeks ago and which has been totally neglected.
Off to library now until evening heating comes on - wasn't feeling too cold but just realised that's because I still have my hat coat and scarf on from when I went out at lunchtime!0
