Shelley Well Done that is amazing and I know how much it will help with Postage Costs

Hello Everyone-- Not complaining honestly but it is freezing!!!!

Uneventful journey home. DSIL picked us up then DD1 cooked us a lovely meal so what a super welcome. Went to bed dressed like Innuits and tehn opened my eyes yesterday morning to see doh RACING INTO HIS CLOTHES AND OFF OUT THE DOOR BECAUSE POOR DD1 was stationary at traffice lights and a woman ina 4x4 with Bull Bars shunted into her backf which in turn shunted her forwards into a car infront!!!

What a homecoming!! I feel so sorry for her-- Retraining at College not got a posh car so they will probably write it off and she was so shocked she was sick twice on the way home !!

Of course it is only a car and she is OK apart from a very stiff neck and aching all over !!! So will post again when things are a bit brighter.

    Love to all .
Try and do a good deed every day.

Welcome home, Chalky, but what a homecoming. Poor DD - it must have been such shock. Hope she wasn't hurt.

Well done, Shez - what a fantastic total!

Zippychick - people put their personal totals in their sigs. The patterns for all the different items can be found under one link at the end of each of Maytaurus's posts. She hunts out patterns and tutorials for us and has put them all together under the one link. If anyone else finds a good pattern, we post it on here and she will add them to the list. Between us all, we've built up a huge collection. On the Yahoo group you've joined you can see loads of photos of the actual items. Please ask if you're not sure of anything - there's always someone here to help!

Well, my hands are frozen - it's making typing very difficult this morning! I'm going to have to make myself some wristwarmers in pure wool - the one's I'm wearing are made with acrylic yarn and not warm enough for these temperatures! We're still in our temporary sitting room; it has a concrete floor with rugs on it, but there's no rug under my chair and desk so last night I had the idea of putting sheets of heavyweight cardboard on the floor. We found loads we'd saved from the kitchen units and it works a treat. I got the idea from remembering my Mum telling me that, in the days before fitted carpet and central heating, they used to sit in the workplace with their feet in a cardboard box! It really works! It doesn't look too glamorous but is only short term so I don't mind - keeping warm is the important thing!

I made another curly scarf yesterday, for a niece I had forgotten to put on my list. I used chunky wool and a big hook and it took no time at all, mainly because she's only five so it didn't need too many stitches! I've really enjoyed doing all these scarves - I wonder if I can get away with doing them again for next Christmas! No doubt, by then one of us will have found another great pattern that will make good pressies! I also want to make some crochet brooches so will have a play around with some ideas. Attic24 has patterns for little flowers and leaves that look really easy. I bought some brooch bars from eBay a few months ago and have about fifty to use up! They would look good on keyrings, too, and also on some crocheted cord so that they could be used as handbag charms. Jean's curly keyrings would work well that way, too. Oh, dear, now I just have to find the time!

Not wool-related but I bought one of these; potimarron001.jpg they're a cross between a pumpkin and a chestnut and called a potimarron. They keep for months, so, if we like them, I shall buy some more. Only 79 cents so really cheap. Of course, we have to see if we like them first; I shall roast some with dinner tonight. DH thinks it's about a 42"DD cup in size!

Anyway, the kettle is singing my song so I'm off for another cuppa.

Hope you all have a good day and manage to keep warm.

What a very interesting vegetable/fruit. I would have no idea what to do with it! But I would ask DH how he knows the size.

Kinsey - it was a guess; no way am I that well-endowed! Apparently, you can use them in sweet or savoury dishes - I'm roasting it tonight.

Shaz - I'm still finishing off this year's pressies, but thinking ahead to next year while I crochet!

    Good morning all
My cat is being a real pain, think it might be the weather lol. he's been in and out. One minute wanting to be in the living room then mewing to go out. Then he goes to the front door, I open it for him and he walks away, comes back into the living room, and goes through the whole palava again (sigh) I chucked him outside in the end, he was back on my window sill within minutes, so I've just let him in, otherwise the dog will get upset seeing him outside the window, and unable to get him !!! It was easier bringing up the 10 children than dealing with these two from the animal kingdom lol.
Have finished my first charity square :-) Did the first square for the cot blanket I've been asked to make (crocheting that one) Need to get the 2nd slipper sock on the needle.
A happy and prosperous day to all, and hugs for anyone who needs them :-)

    Morning all :hello:

Chalky - welcome home, and what a homecoming your poor DD what an awful thing to happen, hope she is alright (((hugs)))for you all
Kathy - what a strange veg/fruit... and a 42DD... its a big one then  Thanks for the sheep link he is lovely...another one on my ever growing TDL :D talking of cardboard, when we were young Mum used to put it in our shoes and wellies to keep our feet warm, worked too, bit uncomfy if it was a bit thick but it soon squashed down as we walked on it.
Kinsey - I can't get the kitty link to work for some reason
Hello and welcome to you Zippychick :wave:just a warning...it is very addictive in here and you will soon catch woolitus, that means hiding wool in every nook and cranny you can find, and making excuses for buying more and more :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Shelley - wow well done :T what an impressive amount, must have been a popular stall, good luck for the next one
May - thanks for asking, my arthiritis is'nt too bad funnily enough, but I am trying to keep my hands and knees as warm as poss, and keeping away from tomatoes, apricots and oranges. Except for satsumas for some reason they don't affect me. Hows things with you and yours???
salome - have I read it right... you have had 10 children:eek:

Its Mum's birthday today she's 88 rang her earlier and she told me she went down to the day room Bingo yesterday and won 2 lines and every house....:T not bad for someone who has never played before.
They have their Christmas meal later this afternoon, the staff have already trimmed the day room and will set all the tables out later,
No Tai Chi this week so she said she sat in her flat and did it herself...she never ceases to amaze me, still does all her own cooking, can hardly walk has chronic arthiritis and osteoporosis but keeps battling on.
She has knitted little stockings for the day room tree and also for her 9 Great-Grand children, and filled them with chocolate money so they can all have a pick from the tree :D

Still got a scarf and 2 stocking's to do so will get them sorted tonight.
Off out for lunch with Jo my friend today looking forward to that

    sorry for rambling on :o
(((hugs))) for all our MIA's hope you are still popping in for a read x
Have good days all, see you later
