Hi all, I`m back again !!!
Been aaaaages since I was here, although I have been in the land of `lurkdom` now and again. Had a really bad spell in a verrrry dark place which was difficult to get out of ( as Roamin Jean would say - EDNA BUCKET time). Thanks for your concern and kind thoughts dear friends.
Since then though, have had all the bugs going, hitting various family members at different times. Colds, coughs, flu, sickness - you name it we`ve had it, either in my house or DD`s - grandchildren both been off school / nursery too, so needless to say the sofa has been well used lately by poorlies  and every time I try to pop on here there was someone needing attention.
Hope things are back to normal now.(or what passes as normal here.)
Good to see you`ve all been busy clicking and hooking though, lots of people getting twirly scarves and hand/wrist warmers for pressies. I did a curly scarf a while ago from a pattern someone posted here (Kathy?) It was knitted though, but I might be tempted to try the crochet one if I can get a few minutes spare.
Well, DD is not having the easiest of pregnancies. She`s still being sick, very sleepy and has pregnancy dermatitis thrown in for good measureso she`s scratching all over as well.......hope she has an easy delivery after all that.
Only charity knitting lately has been some hats for LH as they are so easy and don`t need much concentration - not much of that available just now - although I have started doing some bits for preemies as well. Will update later though.
Have decided that Christmas will not be cancelled this year after all. Wasn`t going to bother with tree etc. but DD & I went away for a long weekend to recharge the batteries and came to the conclusion that Jim would not be impressed with us if we opted out of the festive season altogether, so spent most of yesterday sticking cloves into oranges, (messy job juice everywhere and tender fingers today) but I love the smell of oranges, cloves and cinnamon. I know I could buy pot pourri or spray but it`s not quite the same is it ?
Righto, off to pick up the little lad from nursery, that`ll be the peace shattered again. We`re going to be making flannel reindeers for him to give his teachers as his sister did some yesterday for hers and he decided he wanted to do it as well
Back later.

Great to hear from you Elaine; it seems to have been pretty eventful for you and your family lately, so I hope things are calming down and that you are taking time out for yourself, too, and you don't have another visit to that dark place.
Sorry to hear about DD's pregnancy - with any luck, she'll have an easy labour and a baby that is easy to look after at the end of it all!
I'm so pleased you had a change of heart about Christmas. I'm sure Jim would have been upset at the thought of it being cancelled. It will be a difficult one for you all (I remember the first one after my Dad died), but it will get a little easier each year.
Take care of yourself in amongst all that looking-after of everyone else.

Kathy - ahh thats good, I do worry about our older people this cold damp weather, I find it cold so it must be worse for them as they can't move around very quickly.
salome - thanks for the tips, I hope to have another try at it this weekend, so fingers crossed I don't make another hash of it !!!
f1widow - yes it was me with the wool, I did'nt buy it though my sister left the 2 coloured balls at Mums for me, she could'nt get on with it so kindly gave it to me, and Mum bought me the cream coloured as a surprise, I am so lucky. I have bought a L/H charity cookery book each for them. Mum will be so pleased as her recipe is in it.
Elaine - nice to see you back, sounds like life has been busy to say the least. O your poor DD I feel for her, I was sick for 6mths with DS1, did'nt have dermatitis though she must be so uncomfortable.
Chalky - glad they turned out ok in the end:D your MIL sounds like my MIL she used to knit up a storm some years ago, but can't now as arthritis has taken it's toll on her hands. She said to me a couple of weeks ago, she wished she could knit again as she really misses it.
Have wrapped up the girls scarves and wrist warmers along with the other stuff we have for them, also done Mums the wrap looked so nice after I had pressed it I just know she will love it, then she can use it instead of the shawl I made her in the 70's (ooo thats a long time ago) she has washed it so much it is very thin now.
Have the Christmas dec's out of the loft and ready to be put up, I am sure the tree grows every year  We always used to have a real tree when DS1 and 2 were young, but not now.
The last time we had one was a nightmare, it looked and smelled lovely all over Christmas and NewYear...then it was time to take it down....OH took it outside through the door in the hall, into the kitchen, though the back lobby and out the back door, sounds ok but..... he caught the top of the tree on top of every door way and it was just like a catapult the darn thing threw needles everywhere:eek: by the time he got out into the garden he was carrying a STICK:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: took me flippin ages to clear all the needles up;)
This sure is a long post sorry for the ramble
Have good days all
Anne

Good evening (morning) everyone!
Well I can only imagine that needles/hooks must be smoking hot, judging by how quiet its been tonight; either that or folks have been gadding about a bit.
I’m one of the latter – been out for a lovely meal at a pub that’s fairly local, £6.50 taxi fare if that’s an indicator.
For the last few days I’ve been “humming & hawing” about a hat for my middle DGS, I did one to a basic pattern using the “small” and if I’m lucky it might fit a medium size teddy bear! I’ve ended up doing a “watchcap” which should last him into his teens. They live near the north coast of Scotland, abt 45 miles from Aberdeen & it gets pretty cold there so he needs something toasty.
I’ve nearly finished a cabled scarf to go with it so that will tick one pressie off the list!
His sister is also scheduled for a hat & scarf – hat started, about 1/3rd done, so according to original plan I still have to do –
2 scarves = 6 days
1 toddlers jumper = 3 or 4 days
4 mens hats = 3 days
6 pr fingerless gloves = 3 days?
Hmmm – must rationalise methinks! Yes there are 14 days to xmas, the above = 16 (6 hour) knitting days, plus need to do house***k, shopping etc & maybe (????) have a life!!!!!
OK, decision made (:rotfl::rotfl::T)
To do list is now: 1 scarf (for Scotland) = 3 days
2 Hats = 2 days
1 jumper = 3 or 4 days
? fingerless gloves as I can fit them in.
OK – that feels better, think I can sleep now.
Thanks for reading my “rabbiting on”
Psso – great to hear from you.
Maytaurus, lovely post from you also.
PippaS, gosh you've been a busy bee!.
Kathy - thanks for all the links - I daren't look too hard.
f1widow - hope your plans work out.
HUGS to all the poorlies and under pars
night night all!
luv

Pam - that sounds like loads of things to do! My list is still quite long, but I do have a couple more weeks past Christmas because we're not going back to the UK until January, and I'll be taking most of the pressies then. Please don't think you're 'rabbiting on'; you're just thinking out loud, and it does help to write things down when you have a lot to do, doesn't it?
Well, I'm progressing slowly on the second cushion cover for my Mum, mainly because I just can't seem to keep my eyes open lately. As soon as I sit down on the sofa and pick up my crochet, I doze off!
Anyway, hope everyone has a great Saturday, and (((hugs))) to all the poorlies and those MIA.
