Morning all,
Still feeling rough, not been to Doc's yet (bad me!) but think I might go soon!
Managed to do a big chunk of mum's scarf last night so nearly finished.....which is good as need to get it posted soon (will hopefully finish by the weekend and wrap and send beginning of next week).
No charity stuff done as yet but having urges to make vent caps.
Will read thread proper later.

Good morning everyone,
Thank you to Maytaurus for all the lovely links. You were right that the link for the Tudora Neckwarmer was the one you mentioned and it does stand up like a ruff
http://knitty.com/ISSUEwinter07/PATTtudora.html
I used a thickish DK wool on 4mm needles and it turned out fine.
I have just made a mug of coffee to drink whilst writing and that set me to thinking....two things...maybe tips that could be useful to others.
The first was that if I am just making a mug of coffee only for me, I do it in the microwave. There are two advantages, one, it seems to taste nicer and the other is that it heats up the mug too which seems to help it keep warm longer.
The second thought was that the super pattern we have for those waffle wristwarmers could be easily adapted to make mug cosies in the matching pattern. Simply adjust the sewing up and perhaps add a few more stitches.
Another idea of mine is to take along a small light pair of knitted slippers when visiting friends. It is polite to take off shoes and my feet get very cold so, Hey Presto! out come the little slippers and I have nice toasty toes again. They would make nice little stocking fillers as they are easy to knit and, as it says on the pattern, it is a good chance to learn knitting on double pointed needles. I did my pair on dpns but I now have a long circular needle and have recently mastered the 'magic loop' method so will try my next ones on that I think. Will report back on how it went.
If anyone is interested in the pattern this link should work, or if not it is in Knitting Pattern Central under 'No Sew Slippers'.

My present project is a ruffle scarf in the teddy coloured Fantasy wool from Lidl with the gold thread. It crochets up nicer than I expected as the gold thread gives it a nice 'fizz' but is not too sparkly. Still not decided if it is to be a present or for me but will probably do another one for me after Christmas.
Well, must go now as have hairdressing appt later and some shopping to do first.
Best wishes to you all. K0 -
Hi everyone - I've been busy today, out and about, and in doing some dreaded housework. I couldn't believe how much 'day' had gone when I looked at the clock!
Jean - make sure you take time out to breathe now and again!
Chalky - you keyrings are lovely. I also went wrong with the fingerless glove pattern, simply because I wasn't concentrating during the 'waffle' bit. Once you've done a few repeats, though, as there are only four rows to the pattern, it gets easier to see where you are. I'm really pleased with the ones I've made my Mum and am hoping to get a few more pairs done, if I can find the time!
Pippa - I have some of the fancy wool and have not decided what to do with it yet! Well, I have used some of it to tie up a birthday present because it matched the paper exactly!
Well, I'm halfway through my second crochet cushion cover, this time in the ripple pattern which looks really good in chunky wool.
Maytaurus - I loved your post today; it's so full of tempting goodies and great ideas so I am going to back and have a good read of it once I've posted on here. I hope you are feeling better and better now but, also, that you are not doing too much.
Ladykath - I love the idea of the slippers; such a good idea to keep a pair in your bag to use when visiting people's houses. Thanks for posting the link.
ISOM - well done for yesterday.
Orkney - please go to the doctor soon; it really sounds like you may need antibiotics.
Well, off for a cuppa then another look at Maytaurus's lovely post.

Hi all,
Sorry i never popped back in yesterday, i don't know where the time is going.
Mioliere/Kinsey Thanks for asking, Doctor only gave me a decongestant spray as he said all my tubes are blocked, there's no infection in my ear so i don't need any antibiotics and if it hasn't cleared up in a week i have to go back.
Isom glad things went well for you the other day, hope the scarf works out this time.
Orkney star good luck with the doctors tomorrow.
Maytaurus lovely to see you, don't go overdoing it now.
Thanks for all the links you've all posted, I have even more on my to do list and not enough time. Still I have managed to wrap a few pressies and I'm almost there with getting all the families pressies ready to send.
Hugs to everyone.x:jWooligans Totals 2010:

Orkneystar, hope the docs can sort you out tomorrow.
Onlygirl, hope you’re feeling better soon.
Ladykath, thanks for the link for the slippers, great idea. I could do to learn how to use dpns.
Maytaurus, lovely to see your posts as helpful as usual, but please take care of yourself. I HAVE to have a specs holder!, they are brilliant!
Pippa, that pompom yarn is gorgeous, has to be done on 4mm doesn’t it? I love the way you knit between the pompoms and it all lines itself up
Keiss21, that mohair is really lovely to knit with, wrap it up quickly or else it will call to you.
I listened to a program on R4 called tempus fugit the other day(while I did the ir***ng), it explained why time passes more quickly the older you get, now I know why I haven’t got round to doing any wrapping yet!
Hugs to all who want them and hi to everyone else

Well this is only a pop in because I have been busy all day with citrusy things!! DMIL is churning out preemie hats like a little machine -- and she is little!!
Anyway just wanted to say that I have been REALLY clever and managed to the other wristwarmer to match . Completely wrong but looking completely right because they match if you see what I mean !!! They are for DMIL as she has been envious of me knitting for DDS!!!

Hi everyone. I hope all the poorly ones are feeling a lot better today.
Elaine - haven't heard from you for ages; I hope you and your family are all keeping well.
Well, I'm still working on the cushion covers I'm making but kept falling asleep yesterday, so have not got on as well as I'd hoped. Will really try and stay awake today!
I found this while I was surfing - it has lots of ideas for things to make out of oddments and scraps of wool http://simpleknits.blogspot.com/2008/03/500-patterns-to-knit-with-1-285-yards.html. I've seen lots of ideas on there for next Christmas - I daren't take on anything else this year.
Chalky - I loved all the citrusy things on your blog!
Pippa - thanks for asking about my Mum. I phoned her last night. It would have been my Dad's birthday yesterday (he died when I was 16) and, bless her, she had got the dates wrong and thought the 10th was today! She was so pleased to get the reminder; she always buys special flowers for the day and, luckily, she had bought them yesterday. She's just getting over a nasty cold but is well on the mend now. I can't wait to see her when we go over in January. Both my boys and their families have visited her over the last couple of weeks, so they are keeping an eye on her for me.
Well, I shall try and get some more crochet done today, but I must also do some more Christmas cards and get them off in the post.
Louis, the kitten - well, he's huge now! - has been a little under the weather for a couple of days. He had lost his appetite and we had decided to take him to the vet's yesterday because I hadn't seen him drink anything, but he suddenly picked up yesterday morning, and is as right as rain now, thankfully. He is normally so full of character and personality, but he just wanted to lie down and be still, which was worrying. Anyway, he's back to stealing balls of wool now, and following me round the kitchen!
Well, I'd better go and put the kettle on.
Hope you all have a great day.
KathyXX
Don't forget - I'll do a last update to include any totals posted over the weekend, and will then suspend updating until the New Year. I know most of us are concentrating on Christmas now, because it's so close, isn't it? The last update this year will be on Monday 14th December.
Just had this in an email http://www.favecrafts.com/Christmas-Crafts/101-Easy-Christmas-House-Crafts# Lots of different ideas, including knitted and crocheted things!KNIT YOUR SQUARE TOTALS:

Morning all.
Pippa s... It takes some getting used to, the pom pom yarn. Casting on is a bit strange. You need to ensure each stictch is a pom pom, should work out 4 pom poms in a row plus the one either side where you've turned your work. Once you get into the "swung" of it, it's fun, as it grows so quick, and you do get a lovely soft long scarf. I was lucky because the lovely lady at our wool shop had some knitted up, not by her, her assistant had done them, and she gave me some very helpful hints and instructions which helped :-)
I am feeling cold today. Didn't sleep well last night either. A return to bed is very inviting lol.
Hope to get some knitting done later. Made good progress with next door's socks yesterday. No more on my square though.
(Just had to save the cat from the Rottie. The cat is in a playful mood, and the dog doesn't realise the cat doesn't want him to join in????!!!!!!)
Ok time for my breakfast :-)
Have a blessed and prosperous and happy day everyone in all that you do :-)
xA work in progress0
