Oh thanks ladies I was really shocked at the response from people thats all - chalky - how awful to hear that you were ignored or called a dimwit - I have pictures in my mind of you all and have regarded you to be a kind generous witty clever lady - infact all of you I feel are the same and have not a bad bone in your bodies - not once have I heard on here anybody wanting things or asking for things other than for the help of others and all of you help others tirelessly
(how many times have I said oh look after yourself are you doing to much to one or more of you ....) and lovely work chalky - I love seeing the pics
Your right bee in bonnet definately gone stick to here in future ....... trouble is the written word never sounds like the vocal one and often comes across wrong

Sorry I have not been on much, but been struggling with cold/back.
Anyway managed to finish my first set of waffle gloves, present for DH auntie, in a nice cherry red colour:
Was hoping to maybe add an embelishment but not sure I have the concentration for that just now!
Hope the rest of you are doing ok. Next task for me is to finish mum's necktie, then perhaps some more wee stockings if I have any energy!

What lovely needle cases chalky. Had to smile at the thought of your daughter going about dressed up as a carrot.lol. The things they do. Hope you have pics of this period of her life that you can show future boyfriends when the time comes:-)
I've decided that it isn't a good idea to have a lot of knitting on the go, and then go and buy a couple of books :-( I'm afraid one of the new books has won today, so far. Determined to get some rows done before I go to sleep tonight lol.
ISOM.. I am seriously thinking of starting a charity knit thing going. Thought I'd wait now till Christmas is over, because everyone will be wrapped up in that at the mo, also, I want to get some things knitted up so I can show (be a bit like school with the show and tell time we used to have lol) what can be made etc. I have loads of ideas. One being that I'd like to work on gifts over the next year, then maybe have a stall on Children in Need day, and donate any proceeds to that, also, we had a coffee stall, and children zone on out light turning on day and donated proceeds from that to a school in Africa we are sponsering. I thought I could do a gift stall maybe next year ??? Anyway. In the new year, hopefully I will have some items made, and I'll be able to inspire others :-) I shall of course offer to teach any who would like to learn either knitting, or crochet. Will encourage cross stitchers to "join up" as well :-) (which reminds me I have some cross stitch projects that need doing as well, Oh well !!)
Tell me. How do all of you organise your project time ? Do you set aside a time in the day to do some or what ??

Salome - I knit mainly in the evenings although do sneek the occasional 20 minutes iin here or there whilst watching TV - DS likes me to sit a watch a bit of TV when he comes home from school or at the weekend if DH at work we might watch a film.
Card making I can only seem to get done in the morning or on a Sunday must be something psychological there .........
Although I must say when I was just out of hospital the couple of days I sat on sofa I got loads of knitting done - trouble is with me I figit that something needs wiping or folding (or i*****g!) run round in circles and get nothing done - like today reallyDebt Diary: Im not going to be an Ostrich anymore -LBM - 16/1/12 /0 -
Here is Dd2 as a carrot xx
It was for Children In Need!!Try and do a good deed every day.0 -
Hee Hee lol. There I was thinking Chalkys DD2 was a toddler or young child who enjoyed dressing up as a carrot, not a biggie lol. She looks very grand and makes a convincing carrot lol.
Love the waffle gloves OS.

:rotfl:Have been on the crochet anyone thread and they aren't scary - honest. And some of the boards scare the life out of me :rotfl:
Thank you for the lovely wishes Heldun
You are a busy lady Salome - I fit knitting in by ignoring the ironing (should do DH shirts this evening ) and watching the dust settle. Domestic Goddess I am not!
So pleased you had a good time Pippa.
Love the needle cases Chalky and your DD is the prettiest carrot I've ever seen!
Good to see you back May - take it easy though.
Glad the updates are less of a headache now Kathy.
Love the waffle gloves OS
Trying to decide whether to do ironing, wrap pressies or do some more ruffling :think:0 -
Hi everyone
I'm shocked at reading how rude people have been to you, F1, and Chalky. I can't imagine our thread would ever get like that with all the lovely people on here.
F1 - It's lovely that you are pleased with your teeth; I bet you can't wait to get the final result.
Chalky - I loved the photos of your work as well as the carrot!
I have friends here at the moment - I've just sneaked off to post this! I'll have a proper read tomorrow. Will catch up with you all later.

Just popping in...
F1 sorry you had a rough time on other thread...some people did try to be helpful but sadly some people think that because its the internet they can be as rude as they like - it can be upsetting though. I just try and be nice and leave the ignorant ones to it...dont not post though - some people send hours trying to help its just unfortunate that a few feel lack even most basic manners...
Have concluded that its not the pattern that is the issue - its the wool - just wrong texture for the look I wanted so will rethink...may go on a rescue mission after meeting tomorrow! Poor wool surrounded by sparkly toys and kits at this time of year - just seems inhumane to leave it on its own
Love the carrot!! Made me smile! udderly fantastic...!!!
Off to bed I go...hugs those that need them...sleep tight!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Even in the darkest moments, love and hope are always possible.0 -
Hi everyone. Hope you are all keeping well.
Salome - a stall for Children in Need sounds wonderful.
Orkney Star - hope you're feeling better now. Your fingerless gloves are lovely.
I've just been looking on the 'Crochet anyone?' thread and see that we have some lurkers. One said they found us a bit overwhelming, so I would just like to say please, please join us - we are a very friendly bunch and you will get a really warm welcome, I promise.
Well, I did a bit more to the cushion covers I am making. I've finished the front of the first one, which is just a big granny square, but I will crochet a flower to add to the middle of it. The back of each one will be plain. As I'm using aran wool, it's working up quickly; I'm going to make ties instead of adding poppers or a zip at the opening. I'm making two; they will be in the same colours (cream and chestnut) but in two different patterns.
I really must go through all the things I've made for Christmas - they're just in a box at the moment, and some of them need the ends sewing in. I wish I could find a sewing-in fairy; she would make life a bit easier!
Anyway, I'm going to read back through the thread because I didn't have time yesterday. We had friends round last night and, of course, we had to sample some wine, so I feel a bit slow this morning!
Anyway, I hope you all have a good day and that all the poorly ones are starting to feel better. Lots of (((hugs))) to the MIAs.
