Hi everyone. I hope you are all well. I was MIA for much of yesterday, due to having to de-dust the house after DH's latest DIY session, and it turned into a massive clear-up - sanding-down dust gets everywhere, including on my chest, so he has been told not to find something cleaner to do for the next few weeks!

Mrs Moneypenny - I loved the story about Broomy! What a lovely name for a hedgie!

Ladykath - the Tudora neckwarmers sound intriguing - are they knitted or crocheted?

Orkney Star - hope you are feeling better today. Sending you lots of 'get better' (((hugs)))'.

F1 - won't be long now before you'll really have something to smile with! I loved hearing about your neighbour's little girl. My DS has red hair - when he was little, the class were asked to write down their ethnic origin and he wrote 'ginger'. It made us all, including the teacher, laugh for weeks! I also remember telling someone that he was a Saggitarius, and he said 'no I'm not, I love meat'! They do come out with the funniest things, don't they?

Maytaurus - lovely to see you posting again, and finding us such lovely links. I love the bottle cosy, and will be making those for my two boys, and DGS, in their favourite football colours. They'll make lovely extra pressies.

I love Monty and Tyler; what a lovely photo. Thanks for sharing. The joke is brilliant, too!

Last night, I started a crochet cushion cover for my Mum. I'm using aran wool in cream and chestnut to match the autumn colours in her curtains and sofas; I'm making two, one in a giant granny square, and the other will be in the ripple pattern. It's lovely working in thick wool for a change, because it grows so fast. The cushion inners I bought for them are in a coffee colour which shows through the wool slightly, but I'm really pleased with how it looks. I shall do a big crochet flower for the centre of the granny-square one, and will pinch an idea I saw on a blog for the ripple one - made like an envelope with crochet ties. I'm trying to get all my pressies finished off (I must admit, I have a bagful of things that need the ends sewing in, so I shall have a session doing that at the end of the week), then I want to make some squares for the Help the Heroes in red, white and blue.

Anyway, thanks to the lovely Jean, the update will be posted on my blog later this morning - she has done the totalling for me on her wonderful spreadsheet.

Pippa - great time in the quiz yesterday! Well done!

    See you all later.

    Good morning all.
Gave my friend from chuch some wool and needles last night and she started a square. Very keen to do some, she went home very happy. Will try to make a regular night with her once a month, where she can come for tea and we can have a knit and chat :-) I started my first charity square as well last night, although I found some squares I'd knitted a little while ago, while experimenting with the log pattern technique, and they are the right size, so will send those of to be put into blankets as well :-) I'm going to have to organise my knitting time somehow, as I also have next door neighbours socks on the go. I need to do some more baby cardies, and I've been asked to make a cot blanket!!!!????
Hope you all have a good day, and all you do is proserous and blessed :-)

i finished the beanie hat for my old school friend last nigt and got that and the matching wristwarmers sewn up im really pleased with how they turned out.
its the kids martial arts club tonight so i can sit and knit for an hour while i watch (ive started a poppy to use up the left over wool from the hat and wristwarmer set as they were red) but i also want to go in the attic and find some baby wool i have for a little blanket for one of the mums at school who had a little girl a couple of days ago. then i want to make a pair of wristwarmes for one of the girls at the martial art club. shes really nice and when her gran died earlier in the year she gave me a bag of unused wool from her grans stash as she noticed i wwas often knitting (i'd wanted to make her something out of some of the wool as ts personal to her but wasnt sure what the wristwarmers will be ideal.)

i must go in the attic today and do some secret wrapping and sort the tree and deccys out id promised they come down at the weekend but ran out of time:o

i really hope everyone day is a good one.
i hope the knitting groups that seem to be springing up all succeed
sending hugs to maytaurus and every one else.

    Hi

Just popping in quickly to do my update:-

    3 dolls
    1 santa
    3 snowmen
    8 stockings

    Signature is up to date.

I doubt if I will get much more charity knitting done this side of Christmas, but my plan is to teach myself to crochet over the Christmas holidays as I've been so inspired by some of the crochet patterns that people have posted, and frustrated that I can't do them. I learnt how to crochet many years ago but must relearn (can you teach an old dog new tricks?????). With that in mind I've dropped hints to my DH that I'd quite like a couple of crochet hooks in my stocking this year!

I'd love to have a go with the ruffle scarf - do you use double knitting or chunky wool, or something else?

If it all comes off I'll let you know how I get on. I may not post again until the new year, but I'm reading most days and definitely getting quite a stash of patterns and wool. Oh how addictive it is!

If I'm not posting again this side of Christmas I wish everyone a peaceful and blessed Christmas and look forward to happy knitting (and crochet??) in 2010.

    Best wishes
    Helen

    Mornin All

A nice sunny day, just warm enough for me to have the garden door open, lovely!

Just popped in to let you know that Kemps have some fab sock yarn in - the Regia stuff I made a shawl from earlier this year - its listed as Patons, and is a fantastic £1.20 per ball (£4 rrp). I couldn't resist it OOPS! :o

I've been invited out to lunch today - a nice surprise this morning so I must do something (??) with my hair!

Lovely to see all the posts - it was a very quiet weekend wasn't it - a sure sign we're busy.

Hugs to everyone, especially to those under par,

    luv

    Right lets try again.
    Hello to everyone
DMIL is sitting knitting a premmie hat so I have just had a lovely few minutes catching up with you all.

Firstly lots of gentle thoughts and a big hug too if you are feeling fragile or certainly " unable to knock the skin off a rice pudding!!"

ISOM,SHAZ, MAY, ORKNEY STAR Hope you soon feel much stronger.

Salome - you sound such a lovely Mum and soooo busy !

Pam Brilliant Fundraising and thinking of PamsPal

Jean - I think snowmen definitely count. I remember during 1 of my dippier moments saying about the Geographical importance of snowmen -- I still understand what I was getting at but everyone else thought it hilarious!!

Mrs MoneyPenny Hedgehogs - yahh -- My huddle went to my local resue centre. Aren't people wonderful

Hi Kinsey and anyone else not mentioned by name -- I hope everyone is happy crafting and a special welcome to all our new nutters I mean knitters or hoookers!!

    ISOM
    - I have spoken before about my personality disorder the one which causes me to love a wave or comment etc. So thank you so much for the kind words about blogs. I have popped into to see you and it was lovely to see you posting and Kathy's is another must visit.

Is there anyone else on here with one as I would love to visit-- Just plain nosey!!!

I love comments on mine. In many ways I think Blogs like diary writing are not necessarily for other people but I love to find a comment so I think it works like this

Enter your post in the "Post a Comment Box" Underneath in the Select a Profile box Select Google Account . This is the key they are very easy to set up or maybe you already have one.

    Then post comment
If you want to find peoples blogs click on the persons name in their postings on here then click on "their Homepage"

Anyway thanks again for visiting and your encouragement it really does mean a lot to me.

Kathy hope the dust has settled

    Good morning everyone,

ladykath charts are actually easier to follow than a witten pattern, once you get into the swing of it. The Tudora sounds interesting, does that mean a frill that stands up like ruff?

Pippa.S it's a flying bat! Couldn't find that particular pattern but I think I can fudge it using a combination of others.

f1widow good luck at the dentist tomorrow.

ISOM that's a nice pattern, very similar to the one Pol posted, will you have to use your wool double? Good luck with it.

mrs-moneypenny your attic sounds like a treasure trove.

Had a lovely weekend with the family, DS and partner are going to have another baby (oooh lovely) so have decided to get married......... on 8th january:eek:. They have it all organised, clothes, venue etc. I have real problems getting clothes that fit. Not going to panic!

    Love to everyone xxxx

Hi everyone - I have just posted the update on my blog. Jean has arranged her brilliant spreadsheets so that she and I can both access them, so the days of errors and mistakes (which usually seemed to be with Pippa's totals!) should well and truly be over now!

Thanks, Jean, for doing this week's totalling!

The update is for totals posted by late last Sunday evening; any items posted on here since then will go in the next update.

Don't forget that I shall do a last update before Christmas with totals posted by this Sunday (13th) and then will suspend updates until January. I will make notes of totals posted on here during that time, so shouldn't forget anything!

Talking of crochet charts, I've never followed one, preferring the written instructions, but it's because I've never tried, so that will be a challenge for me which I shall have a go at soon.

    Have a lovely lunch, Pam!

Kinsey - what exciting news! We had my DS2's wedding the year before last, Chalky's DS's last year, so it's about time we had another one to think about. Not much time, though, so I hope all the plans go smoothly! Good luck to the happy couple.

Chalky - glad you've got your MIL knitting! I hope you are all enjoying your time together.

For a change, we have lovely sunshine here with blue skies, so I have a line full of washing drying nicely, so that's another load ready for ironing tomorrow. Doesn't housework get in the way of things?!

Salome - I hope you can arrange monthly knitting get-togethers with your friend.

ISOM - that looks like an easy pattern so I will have a go at one; I think I still have a few scarves to make, and I also want to make one for ME, too!

Well, it's 12.30 here and my leek soup smells lovely; it's been cooking all morning so I'm going to dish it up.
