    Good morning all :-)
Cardiff was crowded. Very. Wet as well. Very. lol. Enjoyed the photo shoot I had with my 22yr old. Different, never done anything like that before. Probably won't again lol. Part of it was free, the makeover and hair styling, and two complimentry photos. Over that we had to pay. We had already put down a deposit, then there was a charge, which had the same amount given free (a bit like a bogof) Very expensive though. Ended up with 4 photos each, plus the two free ones. Had to pay a little extra on top of what had already been payed, but not too bank breaking (phew) We chose about 40 pics at first, and when I asked what the price was I nearly fell through the floor. Hubby would have gone crazy, £1,950 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We finally got the lady to understand we didn't want to spend much more than we already had done already, so reluctantly she told us the package we ended up getting. Tried to get us to get a larger package one, and was going on about taking out a credit with them and pay for them over the year, but we didn't want that. Anyway. We're pleased with what we got :-)
Have another pair of snowflake slipper socks on the needles, ready for my next door neighbour. She loves the first pair I made her. Bless.
Hoping to pursuade a friend from church who is coming for tea tonight to start a knitted square. Thought it would be a nice thing for us both to do :-) She has some learning difficulties, she can do plain knitting. She said she enjoys it, and I think she's going to be a regular visitor to my house, (she's fallen in love with our Rottie and the cat.) so thought it would be somethoing nice we can do together :-)
Off to Cribbs Cuaseway soon with our 12yr old and 15yr old. Will try to avoid Hobby Craft lol.
Have a prosperous day all of you, and successful knitting ventures :-)

    Hi everyone.

Salome - I've heard of others being talked into paying loads of money for photos, so good on you for standing your ground!

Orkney - hope you feel better soon; just rest as much as you can.

Well, I woke up early, got up for a cuppa, then went back to bed and overslept, so I'm all behind this morning. I've just put the dreaded ironing board up and must get that done before anything else.

I had a lazy afternoon yesterday, just lounging about; I could have got a lot of crochet done but I kept dozing off instead. I'm hoping for a more productive afternoon today.

(((Hugs))) to all the MIA's - hope life is treating you well.

Thanks for prayers - much appreciated and very much needed. Hi all, it's been a hectic weekend for me. Saturday I was in town shopping for prezzies and Sunday was partner's DIL's 30th celebrations so I have been looking back through the posts I hadn't seen

Mrs MP's Hedgehog story was lovely and the idea of knitting hogs to help other baby hogs wonderful. It was on TV the other night about the decline in numbers so they need all the help they can get.

Mioliere, I know how frustrating it is to make a mistake in a simple pattern. I know this will seem a bit simplistic but a tip I learned from a friend who was a brill knitter was to use a little note book and pencil, especially when doing a complicated pattern. For each patt row make a stick and then cross it off. EG if you are doing the 7 patt repeat do 7 sets of 4 sticks and cross off as you knit each row. I still do this and find it helps if I have to leave off and also makes a good reference to look back on (noting any alterations I make).
One thing I have yet to try is knitting from a chart. Has anyone had a go and is it easy?
My home-made presents pile is growing steadily. Have done a two-tone green ruffle scarf and made a pair of two tone waffle mitts to match it. (Just did the 10 rows of stocking stitch in the contrasting colour). I had previously done 3 Tudora neckwarmers in a cream fleck colour and now each one has a pair of matching mitts. I knitted a cafetiere cover in beige (improvised for the pattern). And work in progress is another ruffle scarf in the Fantasy wool I bought last week from Lidl which is Teddy Bear colour with a gold thread. Looks lovely and glitzy when crocheted up. (Will need to discover how to add pics on here).
For all those struggling with crochet, I found it helped to print off a page with pics and detailed instructions as well as watching the video tutorials. I guess it is also very important to note the difference between the DC and Trebles used in UK and US patts as I had not known about that.
Well, I will close now and send good wishes to you all and especially the people who are feeling down for whatever reasons. K x
