evening all, not much knitting done here, finished ian's hat this morn, then we went shopping to meadowhall, in sheffield, it was so packed. i prefer the shops quieter myself.
when we got home we put up the tree, love the sparkly flashing lights we have. feeling better in myself today, prob a mixture of being out and having company, as well as spending money lol.
maytaurus, lovely to see you posting again, hope you all start to get better soon
    hugs

  • ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh and breeeeeeeeeeeeeeathe! Scarf driving me UP. THE.WALL. Now discover extra stitches and dont knw what I've done wrong...Going to have a break from it and make a pair of mitts (keep thinking of people for presents lol!) as a break. Knitting roll a disaster so ordered one from ebay...the wrong kind of wool Rowan say so for those who want to do knitted felt you have to make sure its not treated wool which (as I've discovered) will never felt!! Ah the joys of homemade gifts ...if only people knew the [STRIKE]language [/STRIKE] love that went into a homemade gift ;)

Lovely to see you up and about May. Hope things get easier for you very soon.
Pol - wow you've been busy! As have you Jean - curlies, snowmen and generally zooming about.
ISOM, feel for you re the non-felting wool. It's horrible getting to the end of a project and it isn't like it should be.
Shaz, rather you than me with the shopping crowds _pale_. Find them very hard to deal with - at least you are tall enough not to have your nose jammed against someone's navel :rotfl:
Had a lovely day here today (it helps that it didn't constantly rain) and the tree is up and looking very overdone but I will worry about having a tastefully decorated tree when my children have grown up and left me ;).
    Hope everyone is OK.

welcome to knithappens and any other recent newbies i may have missed
lovely to see you posting maytaurus i hope you are continuing to improve
well done on the sale shez

had a little rescue here yesterday on friday night whn it was frezzing cold and rainy my youngest DS spotted a little hedgehog snuffling round i the front garden - it was trying to wrestle a crust out of a bird feeder that had falling out of the tree. it looked so little and cute and i thought he should be fast asleep by now so took it in gave it 1/2 a tin of cat food which it wolfed down and set about rying to find out what to do with him. on saturday rang the local animal rescue they gave me th name of a coupl wh o ovewinter baby hogs that wouldnt normally survive (mine weighed 340grms so i was told he wouldnt last without help)
we took him round with DS who named him broomy;) they were a lovely couple who do it for love they had about 30 hogs wintering with them 11 were little ones in the kitchen too small too hibernate it must cost them a fortune as they toldme they arent a registered charity but rely on carboot and donations to help them with food and vets costs.
she rang DS today with a little update to reassure him that broomy was doing well and we had caught him in time.
i think once the christmas knitting is out of the way ill be knitting them some eyelash hedgehogs to help fill their car boot sale and hopefully raise a bit for food etc. its nice to think there are people out there like them helping defenceless creatures.

    update

    Evening All,
well, what a "lazy" day I've had today, I've been "chilling out" most of the day, got a very early start unfortunately - dog wanted out at about 6.15 & it was tipping with rain so, by the time she was dried off, I was wide awake. I've enjoyed just picking up my knitting as & when I felt like it - no pressure, I've made another 2 pair of gloves and I'm halfway through a hat.

The fete went well yesterday, all my mitts and scarves sold but we had a load of baby clothes left - the plan is to keep them for the spring fete and if not sold then they will be sent off to LH. Overall the fete raised £463, not bad in 2 hours. The money raised will be spent on the residents for Xmas treats & a pub lunch outing.

Sorry but I forgot to take piccies of stuff I took to the fete - slapped myself on wrist & wrote a hundred lines - must try harder:o

For the gloves I made today I used a thinnish DK with 3.25mm needles, followed the pattern & they turned out a nice bit smaller (about 25%), should be good for 9/10/11 yr olds I think - I'm taking them to a friends to be tried on for size - I'll let you know !

Maytaurus, its great to hear from you:T

Mrs MP - lovely tale about the little hedgehog, well done to your DS for spotting him.

Shazrobo - oooooo MeadowHELL is dire in December - I find the best time to go is after 6pm weekdays - its open 'til 10pm so you can get plenty of shopping done with a lot less hassle.

Mioliere - love your flower decoration on the gloves!

Pol, well done - you've achieved a lot this week! Sounds as though you might be getting ready for Xmas :rotfl:

ISOM - put lacy scarf away for at least 2 days, then have a look & see if you can fix it - if you try when you're frustrated I find it always goes even more wrong - HUG

    Time for another ,

HUGS to all who want them,

    luv

For those who belive prayers would be appreciated this week...cant say more but its going to be an emotional week...friends and church and mum been lovely but I'm hibernating in preparation. Had a lovely service in church this am with the encouragement that God has a plan for me "not to harm" which is a definate case of the right words at the right moment...
chalky off to look at your blog..lovely that youre having such a lovely time...maybe we should visit for a knitting group en masse?!! Wonder if Martin the marvellous would fund such a charitable trip...?!!!
Lovely to see you May...love the cracked quote!! Rest up ...know its hard with poorly people around you but you must heal and you wont do that rushing about! big healing hug for you...youre on my prayer list...
Love the hedgie story...I do love them...know they have fleas but sooooo cute!
Of to bed...2am yesterday and 1 today! Dirty stop in me!!
chalky been trying to post on blog bu wont let me...love the tales of olives, beautiful photographs but mainly that youre enjoying the simple things in life! Am very jealous!!
