    Hi everyone.

F1 - what lovely words; they bought a lump to my throat when I read them. I do agree with you - the support and goodwill on this thread is amazing and my life would be poorer without all of you in it.

Well, I finished yet another ruffle scarf last night. I need to make a few more but I want to make some of Pam's fingerless gloves next. It looks an easy pattern so I hope I can make a few pairs.

Chalky - I daren't make any birdies! I have so much on my pressie list still to make. I also want to have a go at Attic24's crocheted stars and starch them like she has but I'm making myself put those on hold until next Christmas. Don't forget, you would have to call one of your robins Robin, wouldn't you?!

(((Hugs))) to Maytaurus, Elaine, and anyone else who is MIA - I hope you are all well.

  • Need to be quick this morning as I am IC COWS all this week and need to go get em soon.
Pam the mitts are lovely, I have no time to make them but have a cunning plan and a knitting machine, so should manage to cobble something up, keep you all informed
Orkney Star, fantastic idea about the remote control holder, again no time to make them but same cunning plan and knitting machine figure highly..watch this space.
Pam again, thanks for the knitted pattern for the squiggly scarfs, its in the folder next to the Kathy crochet squiggly scarf pattern and just as soon as I get some time to sit on a chair for longer than 10 minutes I will be starting one or the other of these patterns - obviously in SHOCKING colours - I know no different
Chalky, the snowmen have now stopped - that is unless I get some PROPER snow and I can go out and make them in the garden which is my all time favourite occupation - I am but a kid at heart.
F1- you sum it all up so well, having spent previous christmas' on my own I know that you don't always want to be the life and soul of the party, but you still want to know that folk care, so providing we still care for all those we love and miss that is what is important.
Welcome all newbies, hope you will all be fine here. I am currently trying to wrack(SP) my brain (have I got one?) for something very unusual for the red/white and blue challenge at LH and have a couple idea's that I just might manage to turn into something productive before the end of the weekend, will keep you all updated and you can let me know what you think - secret till I see if it will work.
back sometime off to get the girlies in, OH and I really must make the mittens today, my hands are frozen first thing in the mornings!

Jean - try and grab more than ten minutes in a chair now and again, or you'll wear yourself into a frazzle. Can't wait to see your cunning plans!

Your words about Christmas have really helped me to deal with not being able to see my children and grandchildren on the day itself. I know they are all happy and healthy and that will make it easier to cope with.

Have a great day but sit down now and again, pleeeeeeaaaaase!

    Good morning ladies,

Lovely heartwarming posts to read when got up to a freezing morning. No knitting as I'm trying to make a couple of sock monkeys for GD and her little friend, and today am going with brother for more steroid injections, fingers crossed they work this time.

It's my boys birthday this weekend, they're all coming here sunday so cake to make and other goodies if I have time.

I'll take some knitting in case Bro is kept waiting, must go and get dressed!

May, psso and all of you who haven't been around lately, thinking of you, hope you're well.
    Lots of love everyone xxxx

thinking of those that cant make it in at the moment whether its through illness, commitments or other reasons. sometimes we can be so busy rushing round tied up in our own plans and festivities we overloook other peoples troubles thats wat is so nice about coming in here, i see it as a sancturary some days.

mrs m - did you make the fingerless gloves for your DS - how old is he?
I have had strange requests to buy shocking green and pink ones for my son - what is all that about???? Am I missing something - he is 8

i made one of them and he loved it, hes 9 so i only did it 32 stitches and used 3 3/4mm needles.
i hadnt realised till the photo was reposted im sewing mine up upside down so have the wider band of stocking stitch across the fingers instead of up the wrist. I've done DS in bright green and mid blue (he wanted those colours;)) ive done the waffle parts in green and the stocking stitch parts in blue they look quite fun really he cant wait till they are finished and said he will wear them over his black gloves. at least he wont suffer from cold hands this winter:rotfl:. ill try and post a piccy once they are complete.

i finished my sailors hat last night so ill post that tomorrow as an update which reminds me kathy do you want to suspend the updates for christmas ad the new year. so any bits we knit over that period can go in the first update of the new year. sorry if that sounds like im wishing christmas away im not but i am aware that so many of us have pressie and personal projects on the go at this time that the updates are smaller in numbers during this period

hope everyones day goes well and you all manage to say warm

Hi Kinsey - it's my DS2's birthday on Sunday, too! Hope the injections work this time for your brother.

Mrs Moneypenny - yes, we'd love to see a photo of DS's gloves - looking forward to seeing the colours!

Re: the updates over Christmas and the New Year; thanks for making me think about them in good time for the holidays, rather than all in a hurry at the last minute! I think I'll do them for the next two weeks, then suspend them until, say, the end of the first week in Jan, if that's OK with everyone? I know most of us are having to concentrate on Christmas (I know I have to because there are so many littlies in my extended family!). It just means that people will need to keep their sigs updated for almost four weeks. Anyway, if anyone is not happy with that, they can post their totals and I'll keep a separate handwritten note (as I do when the totals start coming in) anyway, and add them all at the same time. The last pre-Christmas update will be for items posted on here by midnight on Sunday 13th. I'll keep posting a reminder as the date gets closer!

I'm just about to do the end of last week's update now - I've taken the totals up to Sunday evening, so anything posted on here after then will be noted down and added next week. Thanks for all the totals!

Me again - just to say that the latest update is now on my blog (which you can find by clicking into my name at the left-hand side of this post, then going to my homepage). The update includes items posted up to midnight last Sunday. Anything posted after that will go on the next update.

I can happily report that we have sunshine and blue skies here today, and it's actually pretty warm out there!

  • morning all...a lovely snuggly day for me today and am not leaving the house!!
Disaster! Finished the needle roll, felted it and...yup you guessed it - it didint felt..am going to email rowan as its a costly error (15 of wool) which while can be unpicked s gutting as it took me ages...I now have a very long piece of green nothingness, no extra dosh and not enough time...
Have moved on to a pair of waffle gloves that look lovely so far. House bits to do today - hoover, juggle furniture, put washing away etc...but some knitting in between!
    Hugs all that need them!
Re updates I think suspending to Jan a great idea..mostly cos I've done no charity knitting and feel very guilty!! :) Well done those that manage it - I'm just not quick enough yet!

    Good Morning All,

F1, thank you for your lovely words, you put it wonderfully!:A As Mrs MP says this thread really is a sanctuary at times - just popping in to read the posts make me feel better at times.

Well a busy couple of days here, I've been to Docs for follow up & things have settled enough to tweak my meds, got a new one for BP an ACE Inhibitor - I've checked up on the possible side effects - decided I'm not going to have any of them :rotfl:, but I'll have to see how it goes. Apparently they may also help counteract the diabetes effect on my circulation so that'd be good:T

Mum's doing ok just now, she keeps asking to go shopping, I hate saying no but the shopping centre is impossibly busy with big queues at the coffee shops so I keep trying to put her off.

I'm knitting at every opportunity - just doing another pair of the fingerless gloves in the same wool as the squiggly scarf & I've the sleeves and neckband to do on a wrap over cardi, that should be it for the Fete on Saturday. I'll take some piccies when everything is ready!

PamsPal is having a rough time again - sometimes family matters can be so difficult can't they.

Kathy - sooo pleased its sunny & warm over there:D

Jean - make sure you don't do too much, give the cows a scratch from me!

Maytaurus, psso and all the others who are lurking - best wishes &

    luv
    Pam
