Hi everyone and thanks for your lovely comments about my scarves. I enjoyed experimenting and will have a go at other things after Christmas. I have a few ideas buzzing around in my head but will have to put them on hold because Christmas is getting too close for comfort!
Chalky - have a great day spoiling your MIL - she is obviously a lovely lady. I hope she enjoys the sun!
Salome - I think setting up something with the Church sounds like a brilliant idea. I will have a go at a mug cosy, now you've actually tested one and found it workds.. I like my drinks as soon as they are poured, really hot, so they would suit me, and DH leaves his for hours when he's busy, so one would be good for him, too.
Orkney Star - that's the great thing about the scarves - if you run out of wool, you can just use a different one. I think I might have a go at a stripey one - I've done them with different coloured edges, but not stripey yet.
Well, sadly I'm having to be really domesticated this morning; I bought loads of meat yesterday and just shoved it in the fridge, so I'm now portioning it up, plus I have another batch of onion soup simmering because I bought bargain onions again!
See you all later.

Hi Everyone,
I haven't been up to posting for a while i've had a rotten cold which is still lingering and doesn't seem to want to leave me yet.
Anyway I'm so glad to see Maytaurus has popped in, take it easy while you recover lovely.:A
Thanks for all the links to patterns, more to add to my ever growing list of things to do.
Ds1 made me put the christmas tree up yesterday as all his friends have theirs up already apparently! I never thought you could have so much attitude off a seven year old, god help me when he gets to thirteen. lol!
Right off for a cuppa to warm me hands, Hope everyone is well.x:jWooligans Totals 2010:
2 preemie hats, 2 preemie gowns, 1 bunting, 1 sleeping bag, 12 chalky squares0 -
Only Girl - hope you feel better soon. Yes, you're right to be wary of the thirteen year old! I've had two, one a little angel, the other - well, words can't describe how he metamorphosed almost to the day he turned thirteen! They're both lovely young men now, so it doesn't last forever!

Hi all. Thank you so much for the warm welcome you have given me, it makes me feel like one of the 'family' already. I have been into town this morning and checked out the wools in our Lidl. There were two types, one a DK lookalike with a gold metallic thread running through it in various colours (I got a pack in a teddybear colour) and the other wool is what I can only describe as having pom-poms along the wool. Both packs have 4 balls but the DK type one is about 100gms while the other is smaller. They had a few packs of crochet hooks and cable needles but no circs.
I had to smile to myself whilst looking at the wool, because a lady in the shop was overheard to say 'Wool!! Nobody knits anymore nowadays do they?' How wrong she is eh?
I have made the crochet ruffle scarf and found it easy, though it does take more wool than I would have imagined, so mine is in two-tone green but looks great. Thank you for the ideas for all the variations, will probably give them a go soon.
No chance of any knitting tonight as have a horticultural society party night. Best wishes to you all. K x0 -
Ladykath - I'm so pleased you already feel part of us; we're happy to have you here! I've heard people say that no-one knits these days but, as you say, they are so wrong. That wool you've bought sounds lovely and I'm sure we'd all love to see photos of the things you make.
I've just noticed how new you are to MSE - have you found our Yahoo group yet? Here's the link http://uk.groups.yahoo.com/group/Wooligan/?v=1&t=search&ch=web&pub=groups&sec=group&slk=1 You'll need to apply and I have to 'approve' you, then you'll be able to see loads and loads of photos of all the things we have made. It's a great place to post photos, but you can also post them on here.
Hope the party goes well tonight!

Found it !!!!! Lost hook that is. To overcome this continuing problem of runaway hooks I ordered 3 of ebay to be sent to DMIL who bought them out with her. Well 1 arrived instead of 3 and they were size 4 not 4.00!!Try and do a good deed every day.0

hello ladies - well I too am suffering rufflitis ha ha - have started one this afternoon (on circulars..... and they have not been launched across the room) I think I know where I was going wrong when I brought them I did not realise that not only is the needle size as normal but there are different lengths and I brought long ones - so no wonder I did not get on with them before - major la la moment there only discovered this morning whilst talking with my lovely Mum - who by the way loved her mittens - she is very impressed - I explained that its all down to you lovely ladies so big round of :T:T to you lot.
Hair cut this morning and am just awaiting DH's opinion - he told me not to have to much off - I have grown in quite long - what is it with men and long hair hmmmmmmmm - and i think i may have had a few inches too many off - oh well I can grow it again
Ladies I have so much WIP at the moment - sailors hat, square jumper, bunting, boobie and ripple scarf - oh dear - I really ought clear that lot up had I not - still am having fun so hey ..........
Am feeling wool buying deprevation - its a bit scarce again round here - still judging by the overflowing storage containers I have I really dont think I need any more (this side of christmas anyway)
mrs m - did you make the fingerless gloves for your DS - how old is he?
I have had strange requests to buy shocking green and pink ones for my son - what is all that about???? Am I missing something - he is 8

Welcome ladykath and hello again Heldun :hello:
Oh dear, talk of Christmas trees going up... at the weekend I think. Don't suppose they'll let me get away with any longer than that!
The scarves have really caught on haven't they? Thanks for the pattern Kathy and will look at the variations later. Very nearly at the end of one of my scarves but need to get a shift on as need to do more
Shelley - really sorry but I have missed posting my stuff for tomorrow (life is a bit hectic at the mo) but I will sort it out for the next one.
May, Lorna hope you are OK.
Thinking about you psso and hoping it's not getting too tough at this time of year.
Pippa, hope you haven't disappeared again! Take care all, especially those who are not feeling up to posting.0 -
k2tog - you reminded me that i meant to say "thinking of you" to psso and may, lorna and pippa - big hugs to all of you and hope that you are all keeping well - if you are lurking we are all missing you xxxThis time of year we all get so wrapped in turkey & presents (and trees if you are around 8 years of age & lists to santa) that it is places like this that make me realise not everyone is as fortunate as us and I step back and think of all of you & want you to know that its great that we have each other even if it is "virtual" through the computer screen - and that no matter how much knitting etc we give to charity we are also giving each other great support in what ever we are doing or what is happening to us. xxxxxxx I dont often get so lyrical (sorrrry) but felt like saying it xxAm off to position myself for a bit of mitts & ruffles (combined with some aero balls - easy for me to suck ha ha & a cuppa oh & the fourth part of The Queen on Channel 4)Love Jaqui xxxDebt Diary: Im not going to be an Ostrich anymore -LBM - 16/1/12 /0
