    Hello everyone, newbie here.

I'm just finishing a baby blanket for someone and I have done it in patches. The only problem is now I've made all the patches I have absolutely NO idea how to stich them all together

Can anyone give me any advice or hints please?

    Thanks in advance

    :)

Mattress stitch is easy and gives a lovely finish. Google it or I am sure You Tube will have a tutorial. Good Luck I am sure it will look lovely.

Just got back from the Christmas Fayre-- wonderful work for stray dogs and cats and now I am gooing to settle down and finish some things which need doing before I start something new

Mattress stitch is good for squares, and there is a very good explanation here

which can be applied to stocking stitch or rib as well as garter stitch.
  • Welcome Nunnygirl- I see I am too late with the matress stitch, perhaps you will post a photo when its done?
Chalky great to see you supporting the animals - I can send you some of mine if you like LOL
trying to be productive and failing abismally today, so will sit and contemplate my next project instead - or make some more snowmen - tough one that.

Welcome, Nunnygirl - glad you've had some answers! We would love to see a photo of your finished blanket.

Jean - thanks for that. It'll be time for the next update soon; I was so late posting the latest one. Are you going to follow in Chalky's footsteps and name every snowman you make? (Just thought I throw that one in - don't want you not having enough to do!)

Thanks for the advice on the mattress stitch.

I haven't knitted in what seems like years and picked up some needles after I saw a pattern for a patch that a friend of mine will love. It's the Superman logo and one I've seen posted on MSE somewhere before. She and her fiance LOVE superhero things

I've knitted 9 up in 3 different colours and I'm just trying to stitch them up now, but will definitely post pics once it's done

My favourite snowman is top left in the black hat - he looks as cheeky as roamin' :rotfl:

    Sven, Shakira, Sigmund......

Sorry Shez, I'm still working up to do faces on my little bears for you - I'm convinced I'm going to ruin them :o
  • Thank you Mioliere, names on snowmen - I ask you - then right before my very eyes
Chalky and K2tog jump in with suggestions, good ones too. So I will add Stuart (my first boyfriend) Sorcha-(friend of the family who waited generations for a girl), Siobhan - cos I like it, perhaps I should go make even more snowpersons.
