Sorry Shelley, I would offer but I've 3 toys waiting for sewing myself - not my favourite occupation I'm afraid - & I've got to finish them for a Fete next weekend, guess what I'm doing on Sunday!

    I'm sure someone will volunteer.

    'bye for now

I really DO have to get a life, I quite like sewing up it means the project is finished and I can move on to something else, or just another snowman in my case.

Jean - each of those gorgeous little snowmen seems to have its own personality; you've done a fantastic job with them. I love their little hats and scarves.

It's pouring here with a vengeance. I don't think I've ever seen so much rain. I told DH we've had so much it's making the granite soft! I had to go out shopping this morning and there was no point waiting for a gap in the rain because it's in for the day. Luckily, I didn't have to go far. The supermarkets here are having a Banque Alimentaire; I had to visit two, so have made two donations to the cause. They were doing very well and their boxes were really filling up. I also see that the Rouge Croix (or is it Croix Rouge?) have a gift-wrapping stall in one of the shops. Is that for wrapping things up for charity? There was quite a queue, so I didn't have time to wait and ask. If it is, I'll get a little boxful of stuff together.

Chalky - my sentiments exactly. Every Christmas, the best part for me is knowing that my loved ones are happy and healthy. We've never been a family to spend the earth on each other; we love to choose really appropriate pressies that usually have more time spent on them than money, and it's just the way I like it. Both my boys and their families are the same. For my birthday this year, DS1, DIL and the grandchildren made me an album full of photos of them all, and two little magnetic photos for my fridge - they wouldn't have cost a fortune but they are much treasured. I'm so enjoying making things for them all this year, especially the lapghans which I hope will be as treasured by them as the one that DH's Nan crocheted for him when he was four years old. We still have it - it needs a few repairs but is one of DH's most prized possessions, simply because it was made with love.

Things aren't quite so commercial here, but the amount of toys for sale in the big stores now is amazing, and so are the sizes of the choccie boxes - the French have really sweet teeth, I think!

Maytaurus - hope you're feeling well and enjoying some much-deserved rest.

    Elaine - (((hugs))) to you.

This might make you smile Jean :) (and the rest of you).
Honestly I am not just sitting online all day, I have date muffins in the oven, have been knitting and playing cars with DS!

Sorry Orkney Star, I really shouldn't put red wine on the cornflakes!!! Or perhaps I should go see about a pair of specs? Going to make a pocket angel - thanks Kathy for that, might even manage to do it on the knitting machine - lazy or what?
Back later if the weather permits.
