  • Maytaurus - lovely to see you back with us. Please take good care of yourself and rest as much as possible.
I understand about the problems with dementia as my mother in law suffers from this and has been in a care home for nearly 2 years now. It just got to the point where my father in law couldn't cope anymore, and to be honest it would have killed him if he had carried on. he was very secretive and didn't tell us the half of what was going on. But she was no longer mobile, and being quite a large lady, he couldn't manage to bath and dress her etc, although he did have carers going in to help. But on the bright side she is well cared for in the home that was chosen although she hasn't a clue where she is or who we are. It's hard for those who have to watch the constant deterioration of the person they knew and love.......

I don't want to add to anyone's list of things to make a this busy time of year, but I found this last night and just had to post the link http://www.myhq.com/public/c/r/crochetpoet/ On my PC it takes about a minute to load up and then you have links to literally hundreds of crochete patterns for just about anything you can think of.

Salome - your family has had its fair share of bad luck, hasn't it. Please give (((hugs))) to your Mum and Dad - it must be very worrying for you but it's lovely that you are not too far away from them.

Jean - glad you enjoyed the ruffle pattern. It's so satisfying how it turns out as if by magic, with just a few simple stitches, isn't it?

May - thanks for those gift tags - perfect for the things we are all making! I hope you're sitting down with your feet up and a cup of tea (that someone else has made) next to you. Have a good day.

welcome back maytaurus:T:j:T make sure you get plently of rest and only do what you want to do so you recover fully.

i think yesterday went better than expected we had to have a suveyor round as we have cracks in the walls in yongest DS bedroom - we need more tests but looks like its subsidence due to a hedge the council planted along our boundary, we feared we might have to find £1,000 to pay for the excess:eek: BUT got to wait and find out exactly whats causing it then decide what to do about it. its not major damage and there is no danger of the extention falling down (which was scaring me) so at least havent got to find the money this side of chhristmas

i wont comment on what happened on here yesterday as we seem to back on a nice even keel again

i hope all are well and that the poorlies are improving.
    welcome to the newbies.

im on cake making duty again this afternoon its the church christmas fayre tomorrow so the choir have a couple of stalls to raise funds.

no update from me (again) this week:o i did start a sailors hat last night but not sure when it will be finished.

ive found a knitted wrist warmer pattern but its on dnp:eek: might have a go at that but possibly put a side seam in to do it on the flat if i can

    have a good day all

Gosh those posts crossed---- I am going to follow Kathy with my next one with softer wool and do it with trebles and a loose chain to begin with helps. I used a base of 160 chains. My Doh came up with a lovely idea and thought of doing 2 in different colours and intertwining the ruffles

oooo Chalky how spooky is this then,I finished it yesterday!!!

    Hi Salome,
No its just one scarf, what I did was make the the lighter green scarf as normal, then begin again from the starting chain with the darker green,
with........ 1 tr in each chain to the end
next row.. 1tr in next tr, 2tr in next tr to end of row,
    next row.. repeat last row.
with DK wool and a 6mm hook

It makes quite a thick scarf, I am going to do a longer one next, if I ever get the time that is

You sure do have a lot on your plate at the moment here have one of these(((hug)))

Lovely lots of knitting and crochet going on here the last few days. All very inspiring :-) Moilere, I've book marked that link you posted :-)
Got to the dentist with two of my girls, and was told she's running an hour late, would I like to wait? The expression on my girls face told me that wasn't a good suggestion, plus I had other things to do, so have made another appointment for them in a few weeks time.
Did manage to get some knitting done :-) funny when you think time's going to be to short to do any, and then you end up getting more done than usual lol. I think that's because you think you have a spare minute and use up getting a row or two done while you can lol. Anyway. Got the collar finished on my jacket, just need to sew up now, and put the buttons on. Then back to the slipper socks, and I think I'll give that wheelchair wrap a go as well :-)
Off to Swindon shortly. As I didn't have to hang around dentists surgeries, I have more time for the girl I mentor, and she fancies doing a bit of Christmas shopping before trying on her prom dress. Can't say shopping is on top of my agenda, but it's important to spend time with her :-) All lot are suitably occupied with their friends and my 15yr old has decided to go back to bed lol. Such a hard life. lol The local schools have a day off to day for teachers training, and then they have Monday off for Christmas Shopping. My two are home schooled, but I give them the days off as well so they can spend it with their friends. Lovely having a day off for Christmas Shopping. Unheard of in my school days lol.
    Have a good afternoon :-)
