Chalky they sound great. I love the way food tastes eating outside in the sunshine when it's been bought from a gorgeous market - it's completely different. *sigh* holiday and sunshine is a long way off so I'll have to get my fix from your blog - roses are beautiful by the way.
Chain of 175 is taking me forever but have reached the point of no return - have done to much to unravel and redo it shorter :rotfl:. Next time......
Work tomorrow and should go to bed as shattered but want to finish blimmin' row of scarf. Oh, for more hours in the day or less tedious stuff like housework!
Night all0 -
Chalky I would love to go gardening with you, but I'm afraid I would sleep all afternoon if I ate the lunch!
ISOM I think I've got some alcoholic raspberry stuff in a cupboard somewhere (not really a drinker, no head for it) might go and find it after this week though. All ok now I think.
I know I keep saying it, but thanks for the support, you're all lovely people.
Love and hugs to everyone xxxx0 -
I often come on here and just read all your stories about your knitting and crochet work, I was extremely shocked today to see a post put up blaming Bonnie Babies for causing trouble for Shezmit on the internet. I have been knitting and sewing for this charity now for 3 years - it is a wonderful charity helping thousands of babies worldwide - it is a registered Charity where you know that everything is going where it is supposed to go and nothing is being sold.0

I will Tell you all about it
When i was knitting for BONNIE BABIES i had a load accusations which is going back 3 years now and when i decided to go my own way they didn't like it and started to spread load of rubbish about me. I went to the Charity commissions and they took the steps and got in touch with Bonnie Babies telling them stop and now for the last 2 years there has been any hassle, i was having nasty emails and messages all over the internet, If anyone wants proof of where your items go feel free to contact me and i will send you copies of letters from the hospitals which all have recieved items, I hate this when these messages come up but these comments are made in 2007 and we are now in 2009
it also mentions about cross stitching which i was doing at the school with the children at my local school which i did not sell as all the children had kits for christmas presents which they all enjoyed
also i would like to add i have kept reciepts of everything i send out for the last 2 years if anyone wants to see them too,
Sorry but this has really upset me
Not quite my memory of what happened Shez. I don't think you can blame Bonnie Babies or any of the other groups you have left for spreading rubbish about you. Please do not criticise a bone fide charity and its hard working members in this way.0 -
a7slush, kentjulie1 - thanks for your post.
As you can see from the recent posts, all that has happened is that some history has been questioned and explained. Generally we are aware of the good works carried out by the many and various charities we come across on forums such as this.
I find that we all have to be inventive when it comes to raising money to fund the large postage costs etc incurred when trying to help others. Myself and others on this thread have made and donated items specifically to be sold in order to raise funds for postage and general admin needed to keep our preferred charitable outlets afloat.
I appreciate that you feel the need to defend a charity like Bonnie Babes which does such good work, however, the posts discussed historical, not current, issues.
I feel that this thread is, as a whole a fabulous charitable resource and many of us feel like "family". We try not to be exclusive but a lot of us can be "giddy kippers" and a little overwhelming to newbies, we are very supportive and protective of each other.
I ask, humbly, that you use PMs for any further comments about this particular subject, so that we can try to restore our harmony.
Thanks

Thanks, Pam, and thanks to a7slush and kentjulie1 for your input, but I agree with Pam - perhaps pm's are better for such comments. By general consensus on here, we have agreed that it is up to the individual to donate to whichever charity they prefer.KNIT YOUR SQUARE TOTALS:

I went into Tesco to grab some bread & milk whilst my DD sat in the car
I came out of Tesco got in the car .... I said to my daughter ‘’I think you’ll have to take me to the hosp cos I’m having a heart attack
Luckily we were only 10/15 mins from hosp, I was unconscious when we arrived blah blah blah
OMG isn’t morphine fabulous?
All sorts of tests etc had a coronary angiogram ... & Angioplasty
Dad still not right ... having tests done at home etc

Oh, Maytaurus - how truly wonderful to have you back here where you belong! You've been SOOOO missed. I have no idea how you cope with everything you have on your plate - it's no wonder you had a heart attack with so much pressure and ill health. Thank heavens you've come through it and haven't lost any of your unique sense of humour and love.
I wish you all the luck in the world for a full and complete recovery, and the same for all your family - what a lot you've all been through.
Thank you so much for having the great idea of posting photos of the lovely card and heart that ISOM sent to you on our behalf. It was all her idea and we were delighted to be able to contribute.
Now - just you sit back and wait for the explosion of welcomes you'll be receiving as everyone logs in this morning!
Please, please take care of yourself and make sure you have plenty of rest where possible.
lots of love

Great to have you back with us maytaurus :-) We've missed you xx How sad you had to actually have a heart attack before anyone would listen to you :-( Not good. I know how you feel about your mum. My dad has dementia, he is in a care home because he has serious health problems as well, but my mum is living near us. She moved recently to be near me, with dad, who was still mobile at the time, but not well, this was two years ago. They put the house on sale and before it sold, dad had a severe fit, and never regained his mobility and due to diabetes and other health issues he fell very ill. He only spent one month in their new house, because mum has heart problems, and the hospital wouldn't let him go home again :-( It's hard keeping mum happy, as she worries a lot bless her, and is always working out senarios that may never happen. We have to keep her calm so she doesn't bring on another heart attack, which is difficult. Dad still recognises us, when he's with it. Lately though he just wants to sleep, and mum finds that hard, because he won't communicate, which then makes her depressed. No matter how we try to console her she just slips into this depression, phones me up and tells me she spent the previous night crying and feeling very sad :-( She does have one of my daughters living with her, which takes away the lonliness of the house, and she is next door to my eldest daughter, and I am about a few minutes walk away. So in a strange sense I am a carer as well, but not in the sense that mum is my full responsibility. Dad has a short term memory loss problem, and although he knows us when we visit, he forgets within minutes after we've gone, that we've been there. We can visit him, and he will wake up and smile and say hello, fall back off to sleep, wake a few few minutes later and greet us again as if we've just arrived !!! Bless him. Anyway. All a bit long winded, but I can sympathise with you in slight, maytaurus. I can understand the pressure you must be under at the moment. Try and make sure you make time for yourself, easier said than done I know, but "you time" is very important.
It's pouring with rain here at the monet. I have a friend comming shortly, who is going to sell some books at a cafe run by some ladies at our church on a Friday for mums and toddlers, as she doesn't live here, I need to take her to where it is, then I have to tak DDs 9 and 10 to the dentist. Later today, I'm going to Swindon with a young girl from our church who I mentor, to see her prom dress, we have to be there by 4, so everyone will have to see to their own tummies tonight. I have a lot of bit's and pieces that need usuing up, so that shouldn't be a problem. So whether I get any knitting done is anyones guess lol. I will try and get a few rows done if nothing else :-)
Happy knitting day to all. Be prosperous.
