lovely to see you back posting pam, sorry to hear you've been poorly.

have finished knitting myself an aran sweater and have a few balls left over. it is a dark colour and would be suitable for the sailors hats, could someone point me in the right direction for an easy aran hat pattern on two needles please.

Great to hear from you, Pam, but so sorry you've been ill. There's a lot of bugs doing the rounds; I'm still trying to shift a cold that is now in its third week. Still, we should all better by Christmas, fingers crossed!

    Hi everyone,
Sorry to hear about May(taurus) and all the others who are ill. I have a head cold (thought it was more tonsilitis when my tonsil got a bit bigger!), with blocked sinuses and a runny nose......not so good! Tried to knit yesterday but ended up having to unpick as I managed to lose a stitch......fluffy wool too so hard to pick up again, managed to sort it though :).
Still managed to nip into town today, and got some small wool oddments from the charity shop (very small bits suitable for innocent hats or stockings etc). I looked at the LH update- my name/parcel is not on there but as I only sent it about 3 weeks ago perhaps it will be on the winter update (I know it arrived as Lou told me it did!).
Hugs to the rest of you.

  • Been thinking about may...wondered if there was a way we could arrange a snail mail card for her from us all? A way of doing it would be for us to post a message here and then whoever sends card could write/print them and paste them into the card? Dont know if someone has the address? I'm happy to do it if people would like - as long as I know where to send. I realise that we cant do it for everyone who is poorly (cos there are so many of us lo!) but justfeel that May does so much for us and goes over and above in researching patterns etc fior us and making us smile that I for one would like to give something back IYKWIM? What do people think?

I think that is a lovely idea, I have not been on here long and you are all so friendly, but May does go out of her way with patterns, and cheerful messages too.

ISOM-- What a lovely idea. She really is so good to us all. Hopefully Jean or Kathy will be able to tell us if it is possible. Whether we have an address etc.

Well I do hope all the nasty bugs which are affecting so many soon slink off under a rock or somewhere.

Lots of lovely pictures on Loving Hands -- I loved the children with the teddies. Aren't Lou and Shelley wonderful dealing with all our clicking and hooking.

Well Oh is cooking tea again but I hope everyone has peaceful evenings and for anyone only up to peeping in at the moment a very gentle thought. Lots of people not posting at the moment so hope it is because life is busy not sad

Hope we get good news of May and F1 soon

Kathy hope you sleep a bit longer tonight

Shazrobo, I just finished three aran wool hats took about 3 oz each
cast on 84 st on UK OLD SIZE 6 (5mm) then knit 2 purl 2 to the end, next row knit 2 purl 2 to the end, so you end up with rib.......till its 9" long, next row knit 2 together, purl 2 together repeat to end of the row, next row cut the wool (about 15-18") thread through a needle and sew through the stitches - pull up tight and stitch down the side of the hat.... I knit slack, so perhaps you would need to adjust the needle size.
I don't have an address for Maytaurus, perhaps KATHY or SHEZMIT will have it as I think she sent her teddies to sew up, not heard anything further from her family yet, but I expect they are all extremely busy with important things.
F1 hope your op has gone OK
off for a comfy chair and a bit of knitting.
