Hello everyone I'm back and raring to go, :j
I aim to have a go at the santa pattern first, I quite like doing small toys they knit up fairly quickly and I am sure Shelley will be able to sell them on the stall.
Did some more on the ripple blanket while I was away, but have ripped some of it back as I was'nt happy with the colours (for the 3rd time)
I WILL get it right one day
I havent read through yet so will go and have a read for an hour or so.
Back later
Anne

Hi everyone. Tried to come back on here yesterday but couldn't keep my eyes open! One thing this cold has done is worn me out! Shaz and Welsh Poppy - hope you are both feeling better now. Loads of people seem to have had this particular cold - I'm in my third week of it and I keep feeling I'm better then one or other of the symptoms comes back and I'm back at square one. Still, I've stopped getting through a box of tissues a day now; I'm just left with the tiredness, especially as the day goes on. I made myself go out yesterday and get stocked up with everything we need for the next week or so, so I can avoid having to run any errands. I even booked DH's van in for its 'control technique' (MOT) this afternoon because the MOT on it runs out tomorrow. I've bought loads of lovely fresh veggies for making soups so I shall be busy this morning, then I can take it easy for the rest of the week, hopefully. We've been invited by the local Mayor to a Beaujolais Nouveau evening on Friday, so I really hope I'm better for that.
Anyway, enough of all that. I've done a bit more to DGS's blanket, and I've also been seriously collecting patterns for other pressies. Like you, Chalky, I'm concentrating on pressies at the moment - I don't have much choice of things here because we don't have all the lovely shops that the UK has, so I want to make as many things as I can. With immediate family, plus lots of nephews and nieces, and three new babies this year including my darling Summer, I have to a lot of pressies to organise. I'm annoyed at how much time this cold has taken up.
Chalky - it was lovely seeing that perfect photo of the 'Peace' rose on your blog - it really did bring back memories; the photo was so good, I could smell the perfume!
I hope everyone is able to see the update on my blog. I can't find a way to post it on here at the moment. Jean has worked wonders on the spreadsheet, making it really really easy to add things to it. I'm so grateful because I felt it was really getting beyond my control before. As each item is added, it automatically does a final total in each column - how clever is that?
Pol - I do love the idea of one of Chalky's banners with the word 'Noel' on it.
Jacqui - hope things are going well for you.
I hope Maytaurus is a lot better now and that she'll be home soon.
ISOM - for my contribution, please say 'sending lots of gentle hugs and good wishes, with love, Kathy'. Thank you so much for thinking of a joint card for her - I'm sure it will go a long way towards helping her to recover and get back here where she belongs.
Elaine - thanks for sending Maytaurus's address to ISOM. I'm so glad someone had it!
Pippa - welcome back to you!
Shez - sounds like a great collection of things!
Well, I'd better go and put the kettle on again. What on earth would we do without that good old British cuppa? Luckily, although I've found reasonable tea here, my SIL bought me a huge box of PG when she visited the UK recently, and I really appreciate it!
By the way, still no news of what is wrong with my sister at the moment. She's still in hospital undergoing tests and has been there nearly a week now. It worries me that, after a week of tests, they still cannot say what the problem is. They have moved her out of isolation, though, so I'm taking that as a good sign.
Anyway, this is a long post, so I'll go and have that cuppa now, then have a bit of surf around on here.

Oh, and has anyone heard about this year's Blue Peter appeal? It is to help with a project (in India, I think) that carries out as many operations as it can on cleft lip and palate. They are asking for customised t-shirts which will be used as hospital gowns for the children; each one will save the project the £3 cost of a proper gown. The money saved with 50 t-shirts will pay for one operation. The old but clean t-shirts just need to be cut down the back and ties sewn on (as in traditional gowns), but the fronts can be customised with anything you want - gems, appliques, jewellery, feathers, and so on. They are not used in the operation itself (where everything needs to be sterile) but for moving the patients between the ward and the operating theatre. I should imagine that the children can then keep the t-shirts.
If you google Blue Peter, it will give you more info. The good thing is that the t-shirts can be dropped off at loads of points all around the UK, so saving the cost of postage. British Airways are taking them to their destination free of charge, which is fantastic. Although I'm not handy for a collection point here, I shall send one to my Mum to drop off at her nearest collection point.
I think it's a brilliant idea. We must all have old t-shirts to spare, and bits and pieces for decoration. Lots of celebs have already contributed, too. There are currently 30,000 children that the project knows about who need the operation, and they are hoping to go out in December and carry out 500 ops in ten days!
Another great cause. Don't forget, if you do have the time to do one, we'd love to see the photo before you send it off!

morning all,
kathy, sorry to hear your cold hasnt left you yet, mine seems to be getting worse by the day, sneezing and coughing are bad enough, but the tiredness and the chest pains are leaving me lying on the sofa for the biggest part of the day. thanks for the link loads of lovely stuff, will have a longer look later.
my kids have done the t shirt thing for blue peter, they used fabric paints, and drew smily faces etc on them
isom, on mays card can you put, get well soon, (((hugs))) love shaz xxx
hugs to those that need them
shaz xxxenjoy life, we only get one chance at it:)0 -
Hi Shaz - I didn't get chest pains so I think it may be an idea to see the doctor. My cold felt as if it was better one day, then worse the next, but I'm really on the mend now. Hope you get over it soon but, please, see the doctor about the chest pains, and take it easy. Well done to your two boys for doing their t-shirts!
