orkney star, hugs for you and your mum, i will say a prayer for you both tonight.
shaz xenjoy life, we only get one chance at it:)0 -
Salome, (((hugs))) to you and yours. Anniversaries are a difficult time. A real tragedy. It might be that an organisation like victim support or the police officer who was your family liaison could pass a message on to the lorry driver if you are keen to do so.
Sorry to hear about all the poorly relatives. Fingers crossed that they all mend quickly.
The MIA list is definitely growing - Lorna and Dpixie have both been away for a bit, and it would be lovely to see some of the newbies pop back in - Chocclare, gillypep and any others whose names escape me at the moment.
Talking of MIA - how is your mum Kathy? We haven't heard about Lily May's knits for a while.
Think I will persevere with large sailor's hat - it might not end up too bad. I'll do what Mrs MP did last year and hope for a sailor with a lot of hair to put in it!
Off to change wet trousers (it's tipping down here, just for a change:rolleyes:) and do washing up. Hope everyone is OK.0 -
Just seen your edit Orkney Star, I do hope your mum's ok.0

Our visitors left this morning after a lovely time together. I have known my friend for nearly 35 years and it was lovely to spend time together.
Catching up with you all is a priority here so have just read through since my last post.
What a lot of sadness and worry for so many people at the moment so to everyone who is wishing things were different or trying to cope with such difficult situations I really do send very gentle thoughts.
As always life has so many ups and downs and yesterday we had wonderful news that my Great niece has safely arrived if a little early so I am busy making a name flag for Zara ( What a wondrfully short name !! ) Another little baby born on the 11th of the 11th!
To anyone just reading our posts at the moment and not feeling up to posting please know that you are missed by us all and we shall look forward to catching up with you soon.Try and do a good deed every day.0 -
Sorry to hear about your mum Orkney Star. Will be thinking of you both.
Thank you for your lovely kind words. What a lovely lot you are :-)
K2tog..After the inquest, I did ask the police to pass on a message to the driver of the lorry. I hope they passed it on. Would have liked to talk to him myself though. I think the police thought I would be to upset. We said right from the start, before we knew how the accident happened, that we didn't want any uneccessary hassel for him.
My other two sons are really good, because I tend to worry when they're out in their cars, although my Cardiff lad isn't driving at the mo. He doesn't need to. I do like them to let me know they've got to where they're going to safely, or I'll txt a little later to check up. They seem to understand, though it must annoy them. I shall probably txt my daughter later as well, because the weather isn't too great, just to know she's ok :-) I think they humour me lol.
Have got on well with the 2nd sock about to turn the heel, so all going well :-)
What a good idea the shoe box for British soldiers is.
Anyway. Have a good knitting night all of you. Just the weather to snuggle up all cozy on the sofa with your knitting needles and listen to the wind and rain outside (if you have it like are at the moment) I love listening to blustery weather, especially when I'm all cozied up :-)

evening all...salome...great to hear that you are a Christian too..as one myself I always wonder how people cope with daily life, never mind with trauma, without hope that there is a purpose to it! I really dont know how I would have coped without my church family in my current situation...they have been such a blessing and comfort - as have all my friends, christian and not I would hasten to add! At least you have a reuinion to come when you go "home"...my granny is waiting for me - hopefully with an etherial G&T!
As for speeding in Cardiff - you cant cos there are too many speed cameras but am sure they understand your need to check that they are ok...
OS prayers for your mum...keep us posted. Also for the MIA's...squidges if youre looking in.
Was runnish at knitting last nigh - got hooked on scrabble so just played while babysitting! Today has been decorating with the help of Isoke who can [STRIKE]add chasing a paintbrush [/STRIKE] decorating to her list of newly found skills! I had to stop as its a dusky pink (crown, gentle for those interested!) and cant see it in shadow!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Popping in occasionally to read posts but largely MIA due to major dental work going on, new treatment regime for long term condition plus 20th wedding anniversary approaching (he found himself an upgrade in November 2007 and left in May 2008) which coincides with anniversary of death of mother.
So generally try to be as active as poss this time of year and not sit and think too much and spend the rest of the time sleeping.
Love to all and I'll be chattier in a few weeks!0 -
