Having a bit of an unproductive day today - just been chilling out on the settee most of the time.

The chimney sweep has been though and the chimney is all ready to go now - think we might go and get some wood tonight. The plasterer is here as well sorting out the kitchen so hopefully that should all be finished today. Am really annoyed at myself, I should have thought to make a sandwich or something before he came and kept it for lunch, ended up having to go to tesco instead - that was £2.69 I didn't have to spend.

Think we are going to have to get takeaway in for tea as well. Was going to make a curry but the kitchen is definitely not going to be ready for action any time soon. Am also annoyed about this because I have been feeling really blobby recently and wanted to make a concerted effort to eat a bit better...again. I suppose I can work with what is available though...maybe a chinese with boiled rice, that wouldn't be so bad.

One thing I have managed to do though is go up to the flat with my dad and we have got the water switched off to the bathroom.
This means me and OH can start taking the sink etc. out tomorrow and get the bathroom painted ready for the new floorboards to start going down. The plasterer is going to give me a quote for the tiling there as well - so hopefully we can get that done soon too.

I was getting a bit down about the whole debt thing earlier. I was thinking about my student loan and how even after I have paid off all of the rest of my debts to cards and loans that I will still owe the government about £10K. And then, after that, my mortgage fixed rate on my flat will run out in 2011 and it is a 100% mortgage which I am fairly certain is now in negative equity. This should really go on a buy to let, which will probably mean a 30% deposit, i.e. 30K.

When we were round at the flat earlier I was looking at the guttering on the kitchen extension and there is water coming off the flat roof from the flat above, which is probably damaging it. That would costs 1000s to fix if it needs it. The thought of things like this just terrifies me, I can make all the packed lunches in the world but what am I supposed to do if my boiler breaks or my roof needs replacing?

I just can't believe I have managed to get in this state, how did I end up spending so much money? What have I spent it on? It's not like I've been on many amazing holidays or drive a really flash car.

I know I should be more optimistic, I have a good job, a good wage and a roof over my head. I think I am just on a bit of a downer today...I am just so angry and ashamed of myself for getting like this.

Don't get too down Katy, and you shouldn't feel ashamed either. I have paid £9K to my debts but added almost £4K! Apart from a new fridge freezer, I have no idea what on. Washing machine is leaking a bit and I'm dreading it incase I have to get a new one, but if I do will just have to put my DFD back a bit. We can't do anymore than we're doing at thes debt busting malarky. Hope feeling chirpier by now x

hey hun you seem to be doing brilliantly whilst still having a life, you really sound like you have your head screwed on. Well done, starting a diary gives you so much more motivation doesn't it, I think just telling people pushes you in the right direction. Will catch up on your whole diary later.

Woo hoo, saturday night on MSE...rock on! :D

Ahem, yes well that says it all really! Am sat on the settee, under a blanket with the real fire on for the first time ever - it's lovely and cosy. OH is upstairs sealing the bath so I'm watching the return of the king and have a weightwatchers chocolate brownie pudding to look forward to in a bit.

Thanks for the kind words yesterday, missy and swinstie, think I was just on a bit of a downer. It just feels like I'm at the beginning of a very long and hard road at the moment and I'm not sure how I'll cope with it all the way along. I'm not going back though, no way.

Ended up overspending my food shopping this week by about £10 because I had to pay the chimney sweep out of my budget. The cash machine only had £20 notes though so I ended up taking £20 out. Will put the extra £10 back into the bank on Monday. Hopefully can manage to recover a bit of that £10 back next week.

Anyway, OH finished off painting the kitchen tonight after the plastering was finished. It was getting very late when he was doing it though so I couldn't really cook anything. Was very very tempted to have a takeaway but managed to resist and went to morrisons instead...cheese and tomato pizza, spicy potato wedges and weightwatchers puddings...£4.50. You can just about buy starter for that in the chinese so that felt a bit more MSE. :money:

Mmm, Aragorn is just lovely...why don't men carry swords in real life? ;)
