    Debt-free and Proud!
It's payday today and I've done all my banking tasks:
    • Extra £60 saved last month in cash paid off Virgin Card
    • £350 paid off virgin card from wages
    • £400 transferred to cash card account for spending
So that's my total debt down to £16496 - 11.4% paid off!! :j:j:j

I know I keep saying this but I can't believe how good it feels to finally be in control of this. Don't get me wrong, I know it is going to be a long hard slog but every little thing I do is taking me one step closer to my DFD. Am loving the "what small things" thread as a way of keeping me accountable.

Went for my riding lesson last night which was brilliant - was going over jumps and everything. The instructor and the other people in the lesson seem nice too so I'm definitely going to go again next week.

Spin class tonight - have been really lazy since tearing my ankle ligaments and really need to get back into it.

Right, back to work, am really struggling to concentrate on it at the moment. The motivation just isn't there for some reason.

Wow, feeling much better this evening about things. Have achieved everything on my small-things list today, paid some big chunks off my credit card, been to spinning and managed to have a really productive afternoon at work...something I've been struggling with recently.

Not looking forward to tomorrow, it's timesheet day and I work for a consultancy so all my time has to be booked to different clients...there is not much room for unproductive days. Am going to try and do my timesheet first thing in the morning when I get to work so at least it is out of the way.

It amazes me how good exercise can make you feel though - have been to a really hard spinning class tonight and got a really good sweat on. When I do that it always reminds me how far I have come and makes it seem like things are possible.

Am off to watch secret millionaire - love that programme!

  • Hey there

Good going! Well done on a cracking start. I wholeheartedly agree about exercise. We've just got our first mag of Runner's World mag (via Tesco clubcard points!) and I know I should start doing more running as my whole mental (and health!) well being would thank me for it!

  • Hi Katy - well done on your payday debt busting! Great to see progress being made, isn't it!

Regarding the photo license thing - if you check your licence you will find that there is the date for expiry of your driving entitlement (this will be the day before your 70th birthday - at which stage you require a medical to continue driving) and there is also (shown next to code 4b) the "licence valid to" date which tells you when the photo needs renewing. Beware though - if you fail to renew you can be fined up to £1000!

The title got me in here. Well done on the weight-loss. If you apply to same determination to being debt-free you'll be there in no time.

You should consider doing a weight loss for the debt conscious thread. I'd want to know about that.

    Hi Katy,

I subscribed to your diary last nite but forgot to post, duh! Well done on the weight loss and the debt busting, it feels great doesn't it?! You can do a debt ticker on tickerfactory.com (I think) it's great seeing it moving along towards being debt free. Will look out for more updates.

It's the day before pay day today and I am feeling quite good about things really. I think this last 6 weeks has been the first time ever I haven't been scared of checking my bank balance or of the cash machine giving me a receipt.

I've ended the month with £10.11 left in my account :D

Am quite excited about the fact that I have got to a point in life where I am excited about payday because I can pay money off my debts, rather than going out spending!!

Well done you :D welcome to diary land - sorry I didn't spot you earlier :)

Great stuff and you are right to get excited about these things, they are exciting

Waves hello to lots of lovely familiar faces as well

This lot will keep you on the straight and narrow with lots of lovely hint and tips

SO tell me - when are we naming one of your debts an evil name so you can throw money at their evilness and moawahahahahah everytime you pay even 1p into the little whippersnappers.

    Enjoy new diary :)

Ooh, thanks Essex Hebridiean, I've just checked and my licence doesn't expire till November. That's brilliant because it means I can get it next month. Have just found out I need to pay £40 to get the chimney swept so I was wondering where I can get the money from.

It's making me think I should maybe have a "household maintenance" fund. Although I would rather just pay it off the debt and then budget elsewhere when its needed. Hmm...

Catzpaws, running is brilliant. I was supposed to be doing the Great North Run this year but I literally got stopped in my tracks by torn ligaments in my ankle. Am desperate to get back into it though, there is something very theraputic about getting outside with some kick-!!!! music and just going for a run.

Fay - not sure about the evil names yet, I don't know if there any any evil enough to describe the virgin credit card monster. I did feel very mwahahaha yesterday though!

Got a phone call from the next directory this morning offering me a bigger credit limit on my account and a storecard type thing. Not on your bl**dy nelly!!! That's the one debt I have managed to clear!
