  • Hiya, can i join as we are getting married 9th june 2012?!!

We didnt really have a date but knew it would be 2012 as paying for it ourselves so need time to save up. We have found the venue which then gave us dates available and we plucked one out. Ringing the registrars today to pay £50 deposit so we can def have the day and time we want. Then just need to pay the £500 deposit on the hotel.

I have got everything sorted in my head that i want, just need to get it all into practice. Have already sorted bridesmaids and best man and ushers out and found suitable dresses on ebay, have found abouti 3 dresses i like on landy bridal but not getting it till the summer/autumn to give me enough time to get into the shape i want. Know how i want the table decorations to be so pricing up the options and getting info from several photographers.

I think its never to early to book things although i have noted a tendancy to need to put deposits down as booking so far in advance. Least it means we can look around and get the best deal!
    December 2018: £20,850.24. Now: £18,333.02 Total paid in 2019: £2517.22

Still no date set for us, waiting to see which venue we choose and see what dates they have.

A colleague of mine pointed out that I will have to take into consideration the school holidays if I wanted time off as I work in a school (only allowed to have time off in the school holidays!)

    Hi girlies!
Congrats to all your engagements. I can't believe I lost my own thread!

Anyway, has anyone got any tips for negotiating venues down on their quote?
We have fallen in love with 2 venues. One is a WOW venue but a bit over our budget (about 2 grand) and the other doesn't look much from the outside but inside is lovely (if not a bit small) and they are definitely within budget (which has also gone down due to other issues).

Has anyone hmanaged to get their venue to budge? Any help would be much appreciated! xxx

Hi everyone, I just wanted to say hello as I got engaged two weeks ago and we are looking to get married in 2012. We're still in the initial over-the-moon stage right now so will probably not start looking at venues until after Christmas but in the meantime are going to work out what we both want and how soon we will be able to save enough for it.

I've been reading through everyone else's posts since a few days after the proposal and thought it was time to say hello! There's loads of inspiration here, especially for someone like me who has no idea where to start!

    Hi everyone

I'm a 2012 bride also. Just booked the venue (Nunsmere Hall, Cheshire) for 28 January 2012 - am v excited. We've also booked the honeymoon (a caribbean cruise as we got engaged on earlier this year!).

Am v excited but a bit nervous as I'm trying to do things on a budget so any recommendations for flowers, DJs, Bands etc would be appreciated.

    Thanks
