We've seen 2 venues this week. Think we've set our hearts on one of them :) our dates free so we just need to book :) Whoo hoo.... feel's more real now.....
  • Re asking people to be bridesmaid; it's never too early in my opinion! I haven't asked mine yet, I will either ask her next time I see her (we don't live that near each other anymore so it will be a planned visit rather than bumping into her in town and going 'oh, by the way...') or wait till we have set the date. As far as I know H2B hasn't asked his Best Man yet either, although I'm fairly sure he has now made the decision.

A May 2011 bride sticking her oar in here... :p

When I got engaged in 2008, I immediately asked my sister and my best friend to be bridesmaid. Two years down the line and I'm kinda regretting it. Over the past two years she's become a bit flaky and self centred. If I had waited until now, I probably wouldn't have asked her :o

(Unless you know my real name - in which case, feel free to use that just to confuse people!)
  • I'm a 2012 B2B too,

the O/H proposed the day before my birthday in June, so though we need a bit of time to save, and have set the date for Sat 16th June 2012!! 1 week under 2 yrs from the proposal date.

Had wanted a marquee etc, but when i priced it all up it was cheaper to let the hotel provide the glasses, tables, chairs etc.
we have paid the deposit for the hotel which is absolutely gorgeous in sunny Shropshire called the hawkstone hotel which is part of the principal hayley group ;)

I am constantly changing my colour scheme, but think i will end up with ruby red to match the chairs in the room we have. We have approx 90 for the wedding breakies and about 200 for the evenbing do, and all in all we are trying to keep to a budget of 9k, but that does not include the hoeymoon, which we are hoping to use as a gift list through trailfinders.

Am thinking of creating the invites myself, and have already set up a mailmerge for lables to put inside this years xmas cards as a save the dates!!.

    it's so exciting xXxXx

Umm thats a point.... Maybe Oh is being sensible (which though I hate to admit it he usually is)... and I should just gather ideas.

It just seems much more fun to being doing all of that with my bridesmaids.

I am kind of hoping that they should all remain ok - though having second thoughts about one at the mo.
  • hey ladies, I'm a 2012 bride too!very excited and hoping to do a lot of it myself I'm just getting a bit stressed about finding a sussex venue!

    Hopefully thinking Feb 2012 xx

Im not 100%sure about save the date cards. Anyone know anywhere that does them cheap?
Oh still need to sort my wedding insurance out must put that on my 'to do' list:rotfl:!
  • If you're sending Christmas cards, maybe you could put a little note in the card with your date on instead?

    To save the money

Luckily one of my best friends is a brilliant dressmaker, so i gave her a task of making my dress and her's and another bestfriend.

she lives away from us so we don't see her that often, my wedding has given her the excuse to see us more :) and so we can keep an eye on her (she is in a dead marriage and having a rough time of it).

Going to the free wedding shows as well, for idea's and any freebies that are going around.

Other best friend who lives in France has given the ok for party in her back garden :) so once the registry wedding is done here in the UK, we shall be going to France, (my parents live in France) where my parents and a very small select few will celebrate with us.

I saw in cosmo brides mag / you&your wedding mag a lovely idea that can be used but cheaper.

Retro sweets in a mini suitcase, as favours... there is so much scope around that theme to make it cheaper than the £20 for just 3 mini suitcases.
