cripes, I'd forgotten about the olympics as well, I'm doomed!! I think we've got the shooting at the NRA at Bisley but I'm not 100% sure. Think I need a 24hr serious research stint!!!0

Hi Guys,
Can I join as well?
Looks like I am going to be a 2012 bride as well - despite trying to persuade OH for next year. Not totally selfish reasons as my dad is ill.
But guess 2012 is not that far away in terms of organising a wedding (thats what I keep telling myself anyway- :rotfl:).
We are thinking late July/early August but no definate date set yet. and nothing booked as yet. Though might potentially have the venue sorted.0 -

HI again all, and welcome to the newcomers
Today, being me totally organised self, I went and bought what I hope is everything I need to make my invitations and rsvps! Went to the Paper Mill and filled a box for £4 (could have had a smaller box for £3), bought the sticky pads, and embellishments, all for £17.70. Here's hoping that I don't need to get anymore and then all I need is envelopes and stamps nearer the time!
Just got to get a mock up made now to see if I'm happy with what I have in mind, and then stop myself actually making them just incase the details have to change!!!No longer ...tobe! Married 20/06/13MFW 2021 #117 £5415.40/£6000MFW 2022 #77 £3740/£3000MFW 2023 #82 £0/£30000 -
Thanks for the welcome guys!
As I said might be booking the venue in the next couple of weeks.... would everyone think I (whoops, of course, I meant we) sent out save the date cards soon after.
Its just that I am thinking of August 2012 and also because I have a cracking idea for them. And also I have no patience.
Also when can you ask people to be your bridesmaids? Is no wto far in advance - again I have thought of an great way of doing that. OH likes my ideas, but thinks I'm mad - as he puts it I have a year or so to look at things and make decisions and then only next year or so commit to anything.
I am just so excited though!!0 -
I think its a great idea to get your bridesmaids on board soon plenty of time and oppertunity to get weddingy...I guess with everything else going on in the summer of 2012 (olympic based and holidays) it would be good to do save the day invites...but saying that it really does seem such a long way off...or perhaps thats just me (I sometimes struggle with remembering whats happening next month!) so to receive a save the date that I countn't write on next years calendar would perhaps boggle me!frugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!
2017 toiletries challenge 179 out 145 in ...£18.64 spend0 -

I'm hearing you on the 'no patience' front!! So much I wanna do, but can't until actual decisions start being made, plus I really should be studying but wedding planning is so much more fun..... aaarrrggghhh!!!
I'm a little torn over Save The Dates myself - on the one hand, the earlier the better to make sure that people definitely don't double book themselves. Trouble is, if you send them out soon for an August 2012 wedding there is the danger of them being forgotten about/lost etc, especially as people won't have a diary or calender to write the date in that far in advance. Maybe, if you really have to do something straight away, compose a nicely-worded email to send to everyone just to confirm that you have set the date, and further reminders and information are to follow nearer the time. Or a letter to go in Christmas cards, perhaps.
Re asking people to be bridesmaid; it's never too early in my opinion! I haven't asked mine yet, I will either ask her next time I see her (we don't live that near each other anymore so it will be a planned visit rather than bumping into her in town and going 'oh, by the way...') or wait till we have set the date. As far as I know H2B hasn't asked his Best Man yet either, although I'm fairly sure he has now made the decision.
We have just been completely rethinking our ceremony and venue, after I spent ages looking for civil wedding venues! We're now thinking of having a Humanist ceremony, which has the advantage of having very few restrictions as to place and content, and we would then be able to tailor it completely to our personalities. It would probably also reduce our budget a little as, without a wedding licence, the hire cost and additional costs (eg in-house caterers) should be a bit lower, making us a bit less dependant on parental contributions. As it would not be a legally recognised ceremony we would have to have a registry office 'signing of contracts' which would likely be just be us, the Best Man and Maid of Honour, hopefully on the morning of the wedding (for some reason I really want the date on the marriage certificate and our wedding date to match!). We'd then have the ceremony mid-afternoon, giving us time to get ready, as I don't want to wear my wedding finery to the registry office - H2B is only allowed to see it at the ceremony!Marrying my lovely man on 1st September 2012

Hello, can I join please?
We got engaged last month and have decided on 2012 because we want to have a mega honeymoon but have already got most of next years holiday allocation used up due to a friends wedding abroad!
So 2012 it is, now just have to decide when and I think it's mostly down to weather because I'd really like a sunny day, but it's so hard to predict in this country! Is June always a wash out do people think?0
