bumpety-bump, as this thread's languishing halfway down page six
How are all you fellow 2012 brides getting on with planning?
I'm currently waiting for H2B to return from his mate's stag do in Madrid tomorrow so that I can wave a piece of paper under his nose with 13 venue details written on it so that he can help me to narrow down to a visit-manageable number!Marrying my lovely man on 1st September 2012

I've kinda put all my planning on hold for now, got to wait and see what's going to happen with H2B's divorce - yep, I know we're kinda premature but I'm keeping the fingers crossed that it's going to be done sooner rather than later.
Have a reserve date in mind if for some reason it doesn't go to plan, just need to check with the venue that it would be ok to change! No longer ...tobe! Married 20/06/13MFW 2021 #117 £5415.40/£6000MFW 2022 #77 £3740/£3000MFW 2023 #82 £0/£30000 -

You're getting married on my birthday in 2012! awesome date... all 1's and 2's.
Congrats to everyone, no idea why I'm lurking on here... wishful thinking...If you aim for the moon if you miss at least you will land among the stars!0 -
Thanks helen! Yeah we liked it. We only picked that weekend as it had to be in winter and a weekend when there wasn't a competition on so it kinda narrowed it down to two or three weekends! If we have to put it off I think it will either be the end of february then straight off on our annual trip to the place we met the next day, or 10/11/12 as it's a saturday aswell!!!No longer ...tobe! I had my engagement party over the weekend. I got a little drunk
.
It was a bit of a let down when about 30 guests who told us were coming never showed up .
There was loads of food left over etc.
They are most definately crossed off my guest list.
Why do people always have to let you down? my OH worked hard all day cooking all the food etc just for loads of it to have gone to waste.
Rant over :rotfl:

My engagement party did not exactly go according to plan either - H2B had a load of mates coming over from his home town who missed two (yes, two) trains, then another group got waylaid in another pub on the way, my best friend and her husband couldn't find us....... They were setting out the buffet when there were still only us two there! I was almost in tears by that point, utterly convinced that no-one was going to turn up.
Oh, and not one of my (now former - ha!) colleagues bothered to turn up
But apart from all that, it was a great night. I have a hazy memory of spending a large part of the evening sporting a fake moustache... :cool:Marrying my lovely man on 1st September 2012

We didnt have a engagement party - we couldnt be bothered with the hassle and spending the money so we just went out with our friends then a meal with my dad then another meal with my mum and OH family. Also, it was my 21st Birthday so we did a joint engagement meal/21st Birthday!
No more plans my end. Have found a really nice dress which i am in love with and only costs £600. if i knew how to add a picture i would:rotfl:
We've got a photographer coming round next month to look at his work so we are still deciding what sort of package we want.
Where has everyone got there wedding insurance from? Just starting to research the best deal
Week off this week so i think most of my time will be spent looking at wedding bits! Also starting our christmas shopping this week!0 -
We've not had an engagement party either. It's not practical for us with the families being so far apart. So far we've only had 3 cards aswell but I'm not too bothered about that. I'd rather people just came to the wedding itself - I'd be gutted if I arranged a party and those that said they were coming didn't bother their rear ends but I'm sure I'd still go on to have a great time without them!!!No longer ...tobe! not one person from work turned up, even though they all said they were coming!
We had sooooo much food left over.
I have decided every single person who couldnt be bothered to turn up are off my wedding list. I guess it makes it alot cheaper as that is about 30 people..
The only thing we have booked is the venue.
But we are also planning on buying our first house next year, so bit of a stressful time at the moment.

We had our engagement party in all bar one at the end of Oct. Luckily everyone turned up. We provided some food then everyone bought their one drinks. Was nice, I wanted a party as I couldnt do the wait till 2012 (I dont need much excuse for a night out
)
Am excited today we have next week off and I have booked our first wedding venue appointment. I now need to hunt on here for the thread with the questions to ask on it. Will hopefully be looking at 2 venues next week and picking one, and booking it..... H2B doesnt know about that bit yet!!0
