dont know any chinese dishes that are low point value - unless home-made
the only thing i can suggest is to choose a chicken and veg type dish, and not have any noodles/rice, as even the chicken/veg is gonna come in at around 7pts per 100g!
just had a look on WW website, and vegetables in oyster sauce, or chicken and mushrooms gives the biggest portions for the lowest points - although both are still 3-5pts per 100g
As for alcohol. 1 pub measure of gin or vodka with diet coke/lemonade is only 1pt, so if you want a drink thats the best way to go - however the more you drink, the hungrier you feel the next day, so best to keep it down to only a few

oooh Flea you just reminded me that i need to get some weighing scales for the kitchen! have been guesstimating weights at the moment and may be totally off - even though my tracker graph looks good!
Lexus - how did the chinese go hun? hope you found a low point chinese option!
i have had loads to eat today - done no excercise and according to my tracker went 10 points over today! BUT feel really stuffed so have realised it was a mistake - just got greedy with kids being around - ate bits of what they were munching on... but i did try to log everything and was sat here picking up with empty wrappers to work out the points.
Is it just me or is losing weight much easier on weekdays?!!0 -

Had a reallllly long walk yesterday - got a bit over excited with the excercise thing! walked to school to pick up kids (20 mins) all walked back (25 mins) came home for a toiolet break and then I had the bright idea of walking to pick up DD from nursery!! (45 mins wth me pushing an empty pushchair!) took the kids for some food and then walked to the bus stop (10 mins), got off at the brand new home bargains to mooch around and then walked another 10 mins home! I left home at 3.10pm and cam home at 7pm so almost 4 hours out of the house and most of that was walking solidly!!!
Kids loved it - and have slept really well!!! think today will be a "chilling" day for the kids!!
weekend may be harder due to kids being around and going out - so lets all try to be as good as we can! good luck for our first full weekend on the challenge - just remember to log EVERYTHING so you know what you have eaten and can see how the point total adds up! xx
Well done on all the walking, it really is my fav exerecise as it's so low impact and it gets you from A to B. You don't need any special equipment or clothes and it's freeeeee!
I haven't logged my points, must do it now. Thanks for reminding me xoplzhelpmesave! wrote: »me again! where are you all???
Im having such a lazy day today it's ridculous! stillin my PJs, house s a tip, have eaten LOADS - and only 0.5 over my points - have included dinner points in that too!
have strated to cook 1 day in advance - so cooked off some marinated chicken last nite while making evening meal and will warm it up in some sort of sauce and have it with sweet baked potatoes and sauteed mixed vegetables - best thing is that the whole family will be eating the same meal - although may give the kids some fishfingers if we run low on chicken!
Have some curry on the hob now for tomorrows meal and will to the preparations tomorrow for Mondays dinner. Helps me feel more organised and helps to sort out meal planning too - have also just joined the grocery challenge to helo with costings for food!
You sound very organised, well done. I've eaten ok today but I always tend to eat less at weekends. I'm babysitting (hence posting at 2am!!) and have ignored the cake left out for me by my friend - bless her. It is very tempting but I will not give in. I've been here 6 hours so far and am proud of myself for not eating it.Very fattening!!
And yes, it tempts us to eat junk... I am mortified! We went out early this morning for our shopping trip and went without having breakfast at home... so what did we do? Went to flamin Macdonalds!!! what did I have? cereal? of course not... I'd got the munchies from having a drink last night and wanted something a bit filthy!!! A sausage and Egg McMuffin and a Hash Brown!! I knew it would be high in points.... but when I came home to track it, I discovered that my little greedy indulgence had cost me 11 points!!!
NEVER AGAIN!!! plus, this evening we are supposed to be having a chinese takeaway! Eldest daughter is over at a birthday party sleepover so OH is grabbing dinner on his way back from Golf!
I have 9 points left... does anyone have any Chinese suggestions? I've found Chicken Chop Suey is 6 points (Prawn Chop Suey is only 3 points... but I don't do prawns!!), and then there'd be Rice on top of that... or a Chow Mein is 7.5
Something veggie with boiled rice? Oh I have no idea... I don't really eat takeaways. Hope you managed to get something good and low in points.

There are some good digital scales in Tesco atm for about £9, they are so accurate - defo worth the money! I hardly ever weigh anything unless baking but I guess I'm going to have to start!
I eat more on weekdays, lol! It's just boredom/habit at work really, plus my colleagues are sweet addicts and always offering me stuff! At home I can control what food is around me. Also, I have less routine at the weekend and walk more, and will often have just 2 meals a day plus a little snack. And I have more time to make meals as healthy as poss - and take my time eating them. Not like weekdays when I have breakfast AND lunch at work and get interrupted by calls, emails etc. If I didn't have to work all day I could lose weight far more easily!!Get to 119lbs! 1/2/09: 135.6lbs 1/5/11: 145.8lbs 30/3/13 150lbs 22/2/14 137lbs 2/6/14 128lbs 29/8/14 124lbs 2/6/17 126lbs

Hi tara and girls!
What a lively thread! I'm supposed to be part of the lose 7pounds in October thread myself ( not started properly yet this month....Monday DEFINITELY!)
Just read your posts about Chinese takeaways and would like to pass on a bit of insider knowledge.....if you can... AVOID them!
There is so much variation between shops and if you are unlucky you'll find yours made by a chef who uses loads of oil. While the meal itself will contain healthy ingredients, you can't control the amount of oil that may be included. Much better to try to make your own (I know, it doesn't taste the same) or else share a meal with a hungry OH or just write off the experience as a no-diet day!
Hope you don't mind me butting in, but you all sound so fired-up. It's not a case of don't eat them; just make sure it's a well- informed choice!
Love

Lexuslass - if it were me I'd make us both something healthy and use the leftover points for a couple of glasses of wine to go with the meal - that way you get a treat and stay in your points - with a takeaway Chinese you have no idea how many points you are eating.
OR pick up a selection pack of chinese snacks to share as a treat for supper for the supermarket/Co-op.
Unless of course you go for a national chain where the figures are available -
pizza hut takeaway - 56 points for a MEDIUM pepperoni feast pan pizza!!
McDonald's - big mac and medium fries - 15 points
Brewer's fayre smothered chicken (my favourite!) - 16 /2 points.Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

aliuro - at the pizza hut points! the WW ones were on offer at £2 each in Asda so was planning on getting a couple to freeze - but forgot! my other branwave was to use asda mini WW naans (on offer 2 packs for £1!) and make my own pizzas and freeze them - think the naans are 2 points each so with tomato base, some free points veg, chicken breast or quorn & low fat cheese should be nowhere near 56 points!!!
Gosh, i sound like a right little Delia Smith!!
Tara - thanks for the scales recommendation! off to tesco later to use a £7 off 50 spend voucher so will get the scales while i am there! Can you or have you tried makng or preparng your weeks food at the weekend - will really help with point logging and knowing what you're eating after a long days work makes like a bit easier. You can make enough for lunch the next day at work too....
Bonnie - ur welcome to join in any time! I'm loving this thread - like you say its a lot more lively than the WW message boards! i am quite dissapointed with them..!

Bronnie, feel free to post on as many weight loss threads as you want!I second your advice and would like to add that it can taste even better when you make it yourself! I make my own stir fries, curries and noodle dishes at home because I think takeaways always just taste of MSG and grease! They're not hard to make, promise. Just stock up on cheap storecuboard ingredients at an Asian supermarket, pick up a few recipes (I'll be raiding the WW recipes for new ideas) and you'll be all set!

Holy hell!!!! 56 points!!! You can make your own pizzas too ladies, it is so easy and very MSE! You just need yeast, flour and a little oil (optional) for the base, and then whatever you want for the topping. Easy! I refuse to pay pizza takeaway prices or eat their doughy fatty bases and 2cm thick layers of mozz... yuuuuk.plzhelpmesave! wrote: »aliuro - at the pizza hut points! the WW ones were on offer at £2 each in Asda so was planning on getting a couple to freeze - but forgot! my other branwave was to use asda mini WW naans (on offer 2 packs for £1!) and make my own pizzas and freeze them - think the naans are 2 points each so with tomato base, some free points veg, chicken breast or quorn & low fat cheese should be nowhere near 56 points!!!

have a good low points day!
plzepmesave, I do sometimes spend a Sunday afternoon cooking up a huge batch of curry/spag bol/whatever to freeze for dinners, but I quite like having something like fish or a stir fry for dinner which can't be made in advance. Thanks for the tip though, maybe we could make a list of healthy dinners which can be made in advance and I'll stick it in the first post.
Lunches are usually fresh and I make them every day. I don't mind, it doesn't take long to throw a salad or sandwich together. Occasionally I'll make a batch of HM soup or couscous with roasted veg leftover from dinner and bring that with me so that's easy enough.
Today is going ok so far... here's hoping it stays that way!
kaza - I will definitely slap you on the wrists... only if you do the same to me!Good on you and your attitude... start over again and you will be fine!
