Well...the hairdresser issue is sorted, my sister in law is coming after all.
Final contract has gone to venue with all details. Still waiting to try on dress for the final time but have lost a stone since last trying it on - I'm hoping it still fits me!
Bridesmaids bouquets are sorted, MIL2B is fit and well after heart op, SIL2B has been negotiated with, and that's all OK. Need to sort out favours and get return tickets for hen do (forgot to book earlier and prices for train back to London have gone up from £9.50 to £24.50, so am getting first class for £30.50 all the way home, rather than using Oyster to get back - it's about £1.50 more expensive and I'll at least get a cup of tea out of it).
All is generally well, touch wood. Things left to do:
Bridesmaids' jewellery (didn't like the stuff I went to buy a few weeks ago)
My jewellery
My bouquet
Table decs
Cake decorations
Favours
All in control.

littlearfer - sounds like you are doing well
its good its all coming together nicely for you
oh i forgot, I went to see my friend last week who is doing my bouquet and my bridesmaids bouquets so thats all sorted out now
and for the table centrepieces, i have finally found a local florist who didnt treat me like crap the moment I walked in the door lol so we are having fish bowl vases with calla lillies twisted on the insideI was going to do it myself but decided it was too much to worry about on the day of the wedding, plus if they do it they will take them to the venue and set it all up too so thats another thing I dont have to think about

Ooh we're all getting there now.
I've just met my photographer and he's lovely and costing £150 (+ his meal) for the day and 1 hour at night including disc with copyright and he will do the technique I like!! Very excited.
My evening invites are ready to be given out over the weekend.
My list of still to dos
Sort out flowers and button holes. (Have them ready but need to wrap the stems and get the buttonholes ready)
Pass out the evening guests invites
Get the girls hair trials done
final dress fittings
prettify the younger girls dresses (add sparkly bits)
add skulls or black bits to one of the bridesmaids outfits
make party type bags for the younger guests
chase up my readers to confirm their choices
confirm music choices
get passport name change form signed by the registrar.
buy presents for mum and older bridesmaids
sort out my makeup.
thats all i have for now but seems to be a good enough list0 -
oh bloody hell.....
very very bad day yesterday!!!!
me and my oh were on our way up to the nec (to go to a trade show for my job) we got about half way ish....my car lost all its get up and go, so we pulled onto the hard shoulder, marc took a look at the car said he feared it was the turbo so we called the aa
the aa man came, took a quick look said he thought it was a valve so he topped up our oil and told me to drive to the next junction so he could look properly
well i did, my car was pouring smoke out the back and making a horrible noise (and would only go at 40 ish)
we got to the junction and pulled over, the aa man came running over, checked our oil...it had all gone, he said dont start your car again your turbos gone and if you start it again you could blow the engine....argh
So he called for a recovery truck and left us at the side of the road......about 2 and a half hours later the recovery guy came, but he had been told just to see what was wrong!!! he called them and said we needed recovering, they told him to leave us they would send someone else, but luckily he refused to do that
So he popped my car on the truck and drove us home (well to our local garage) We left the car with them to look at and they called me last night to say it was def the turbo
So I spent last night and this morning getting quotes for a new/refurb one......best I have found is £400, so I have now ordered that and they will fit it next week (probably another £150 - £200)
argh nightmare, really really really cant afford this right now, but have no choice at all, I need my carMarried on 5th March 2010still lurking on the wedding board tho :rotfl:0 -
Hi Yellowbug, really sorry to hear about your car and the turbo blowing up !! Poor you what a nightmare - sending you big hugs !!! Thats the last thing you need when your wedding is soo soon !!! Hope it is back on the road again soon. Have a  you need a few after that !!!We got married 17th April 2010 !! A wonderful day with my wonderful husband !! :T0

Yellowbug, that sounds like a minor disaster...but it could be worse (I think). It's only money, and you still have your health (as my mum would say). I had to call the nice breakdown people out yesterday, but mine was just a flat battery (cold weather plus not using car very much apparently). I've just noticed that you're getting married on the same day as me...We'll have to compare notes after the event!
All still OK here, but I keep remembering other stuff we need to do - like emailing the DJ our songs, and picking the music for the ceremony...all quite minor stuff though.0 -
Hi all, happy valentines day! Hope your spouses to be have remembered - I got a heart in golden syrup on top of my porridge this morning, how sweet :-)
I'm printing of the orders of service at the moment. Had a slight organist crisis as after having the piece of music we wanted for the recessional for the last 6 months, he's now decided he can't get it as an organ arrangement. Still, apaprt from that all is going reasonably well - though there just doesn't seem like enough hours in the day to sort everything out! It was 4 weeks yesterday for us...Live on £11k in 20110 -
We went for proper romance the other day - Pizza Hut
(I'm dieting and we hadn't been out together for a meal for ages, so told DF he could pick where we went...only 'problem' was they ran out of individual bases and had to give us a medium...EACH. Bang goes the pre-wedding diet for this week!)
Ordered my favour bags from ebay the other day, should be here by Wednesday£4.50 for 50 of them (including postage). Fingers crossed their description of 'royal blue' actually means royal blue!!!

well what a week lol
after the disaster of my cars turbo going, I have been using my other halfs car (a passat estate) so I had been taking him to work and picking him up so I could have the car to get around and do everything I needed to......so on a routine trip to sainsburys on monday....I reversed into a post!!!!!! argh...luckily its not bad and he isnt bothered about it cus its just cosmetic damage lol
then i got a call from the garage saying they had worked out what had caused my turbo to go...so that needed fixing too...so all in my car cost £750 to get sorted.
Then I had my insurance renewal to do....and due to the cost of fixing the car I asked to do it monthly........for which they wanted to charge an extra £120!!!!!! on a £250 renewal...I nearly fell off my chair, so I ended up diving into the savings some more and paying it
Then we were washing up the other day, let the water out and next thing I know its all over the flipping floor, the sink waste bit underneath had come off lol It was an easy fix as I just had to fit a new seal, but it was a pain in the !!!! having to clean all the pots and pans that were in the drawer under the sink
Then...yesterday my moh came and picked me up to go and collect my dress....so we are driving along and her car is making some odd noises but were not too worried about it, we park up go and fetch my dress and get back in the car to take my dress to my mums house....on the way the car is sounding worse....so we drop the dress off and I ring the garage for my friend to explain the noise, he says can you nip round and Ill take a look.
So we drive over there.....he gets it up on the ramps and shots us a very bad look, turns out she had a hole in her gearbox and its a good job we went cus it was about to conk out. We left the car there and then had to go and get a train back home lol
All of this when I was supposed to be at work, so I ended up staying at work late last night to try and catch up
and breath lol
